  1. How is T-Mobile coming up with so much cash to support these deals? Surely the gravy train is bound to come to an end at some point, either from pricing that can no longer be supported or a network that can no longer support it.... right?

Maybe.. but we're paying a whopping $112 all in for four lines and two of the lines will probably always get $10 kickback credits. So for now I'll milk the cheap plan while I can. FYI tmo data speeds in abq are way, way faster than sprint's...

And I did this as a trial. If i don't like it, i can always go back as all the phones are unlocked. Or even try Verizon.

  2. I find it very interesting that suddenly when the tenor of this thread and general sprint perception was going south fast, sprint seems to be righting the ship and releasing all these great news. Maybe the figure is not so grim for sprint after all.

I gotta say that while I had a great 3 1/2 years with sprint, T-Mobile just made us an offer too great not to take up - especially with hookup, kickbacks and a free line. That said, all our phones are now unlocked and we could always switch right back to sprint if they come up with better plans.

  3. Activation fees are bad but SIM fees are worse. Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T charge activation but SIM's are free. T-Mobile charges for the plastic that costs a buck to make. Lose a SIM card? Give us another $20, now $25. I know, it happened to me when I had the $30 plan as a backup.

That said there are workarounds like getting a bestbuy T-Mobile prepaid SIM card for $5
  4. I'm just trying to figure out as to why all these promos they have have for plans all expire around March of next year. Is this like a small sign of some sort? I just don't make sense to offer something and then switch it up. It just looks like they are giving people a try before you buy and that you'll love the network so much that when we raise the price you won't care.

When I ported out to Verizon almost 2 weeks ago, Sprint sent me a daily email saying how I made a mistake and to come back for $300 credit on my line.

The 50% off your current provider plans that came out a while back also had a price hike after a year or two. I think many of those folks are starting to see higher bills around now.
  5. For me when I switched to vzw this past weekend, it will cost me $8 more per month which is small for the network and quality I gain. Too I unlocked my iPhone 7 plus with Sprint. I didn't want to switch but my data was getting bad in my home and Sprint didn't see a issue for 5 months and repeated calls.

Sidebar:: If you use Sensorly, they have a iOS update that now includes mapping you trip! So hopefully we can see more lte coverage for Sprint on the map!

    were your phones paid off?
  6. The Verizon plans are so enticing because once a phone is unlocked it can go to pretty much any network with just a SIM swap. Long gone are the days where you have to buy a Verizon phone to use Verizon. For instance the Sprint version of the iPhone 6s will work on any carrier in the USA. Verizon also has a much better network in the USA than Sprint. If Sprint works great for you in your area that is great, but in many areas they are underperforming and they are not spending on improving the network. So for my family our bill per user (not including phone pricing) would just roughly $4 more on Verizon than Sprint. The competition is great.

However, Sprint and T-Mobile will definitely win international roaming no doubt still. Verizon does allow you in many countries to use your domestic plan for $10 a day and Canada and Mexico are free on the unlimited plan.

And I gotta say that if VZN only cost about four dollars more than Sprint, I would also switch. But in my case, it's more like $60+ dollars. While we could keep our phones, we would have to pay the ETF that SPrint would charge on the two phones we have payments for with them. AFAIK, VZN will only pay the ETF if I trade in the phones. So definitely not worth it for me....

  7. OK.. maybe I'm in a plan that is better than most or I just don't get these complaints. A year ago I got an email encouraging me too switch my plan to the family share pack - 40 gb shared for $120. Better yet, the access fees for lines 1-4 were waived as long as we stayed on that plan. After an employer discount we pay $96 plus taxes and device fees (one of the phones is free (iphone promotion sprint ran last year with phone trade in), the other one pays $20 and I have the third one through the apple upgrade program). So our bill is about $133 (not including the apple payment) and we dont' get tethered if we go over the twenty whatever gb.

If I were to switch to VZN, I'd have to get two new VZN phones and my montly bill would be at least $60 more per month than I currently pay. We travel a lot internationally and that would add hundreds of dollars each week we spend abroad compared to what we pay now...

So unless I'm missing something, I don't see why these VZN plans are so enticing to some people - at least for me it would cost a ton more and while 40 gb is not unlimited, I have yet to come close to that.

  8. Yeah, Verizon is not a perfect carrier by any stretch. When you add up all the pros and cons, VZW will be a better choice for many people. But they are not perfect. I encounter sites that are overburdened all the time. And if you travel internationally, Tmo and Sprint are likely better options. I type this as I am in Canada at the moment (using Tmo). I basically had to turn off my work VZW phone here.

Verizon does allow Canada roaming for free with their new unlimited plan. That said I love sprint open world. Main thing that keeps me with sprint.

  9. Well guys I crossed over to he dark side. I really didn't want to leave Sprint but I had no choice due to my data issues for the past 5 months. Even though I'm with Verizon, I am still going to stay active on this site because I'm still rooting for Sprint and it's progress I hope they will make this year. You never know I may end up back with them down the road.
