  1. I think it is largely a waiting game. Lower demand from 20% unemployment and failing businesses will catch-up with 5G phone prices sooner or later. I can't see the US Senate continuing to agree to write checks. Likely only got this far because it is an election year. There had been discussion in the winter of lower priced 5G phones arriving by summer.
  2. An important Android 11 feature seems to be how apps can now find out if you're on 5G, continuing a feature which lets apps distinguish whether you're on 4G or Wi-Fi connection. This would optimize content and performance for however you're connected, likely stopping you draining loads of data unnecessarily. source: https://www.techradar.com/news/android-11
  3. NSA is like a special kind of CA. Hard to get info on what you are exactly connected to with standard tools other than the primary carrier. There have been reports of people either seeing noticable speed increases with 5g or none. Ingenium gave us the reason why, noting the 5g indicator just indicates the presence of 5g and not whether you are connected. Therefore, by restricting your phone 5g to only n41 and none, repeated alternating speed tests done at a non peak time should indicate whether you are connected to n41 or not. Edit: I suggest picking a site where you can see the equipment else try a drone. Being in the edge of another site may not give detectable speed increases. My hunch is we will only find n41 at sites with n71.
  4. I have noticed with my T-Mobile phone that LTE 700 is allowed to run all the way out, but often it won' t function at that point.
  5. Sprint typically chose to have b26 operate better within its given range when they increased the radios from 2 to 4 ports. Most all sites were also given b26 which definitely helped. Rural sites where b26 was added often have the extended range. The biggest area to benefit was cities with lots of former WiMAX sites when they were upgraded to triband. Building penetration is far superior and essential for VoLTE.
  6. Not seeing it in Columbus OH networkwise. I have not observed b41 equipment at t-Mobile sites yet, although my travels have been quite minimal. Storefronts would be far easier.
  7. For those of us more used to Samsung, can you break this out by which brand and model does what from left to right? Thanks!!
  8. We can only judge them on their actions so far. Without additional details from T-Mobile, it is only natural to see these actions as a trend. If T- Mobile is concerned, they can give us more data or share more of their current plans.
  9. Agree. And we have enough interest to piece together what they are doing if we share our observations even more with each other.
  10. From a pragmatic S4gru.com point of view, how will the actual forcing of people over in unconverted markets work with new phones? Will it just be with regular retail sales forced over? Perhaps buying a factory unlocked phone and activating it yourself would be a way around this, if you can get Sprint sims. (Also gets around dreaded Sprint leases and keeps your options open in terms of other carriers.) Once a market is converted you can make a reasonable judgement on new T-Mobile service. Sprint service today is better than existing T-Mobile service for me. They key items missing are which sites will be converted, new sites, small cell plans, backhaul, new patterns for sites, and plan details.
  11. 1) stay safe 2) So can you still get b41 (4g) LTE in the T-Mobile n41 areas? 3) Is the b41 now coming from the n41 new T-Mobile sites? How is performance in both cases? 4) Small cell and MagicBoxes still function in these areas as well? Thanks
  12. The question is whether T-Mobile has bricked Sprint compatible b41 LTE in Philly. Are small cells and MagicBoxes toast? How is the T-Mobile b41 performance? Urging any members in Philly to update us on these issues
  13. Airvana C5000 has an LTE led so not a Airwave 2.5.
  14. True, given your phone supports the bands and 3g is still on local towers (Verizon has removed 3g from many sites). I don't believe VoLTE 911 is supported on other carriers.
  15. Not to mention we currently have an estimated 20% unemployment rate. State worker compensation systems overwhelmed and unable in most cases to handle 1099 claims. A lot of gaps in the social safety net. Super fast issuance of the first CARES Act checks, but may not be until October until all are issued. A long time to wait without a job or health insurance during a pandemic. Most people live paycheck to paycheck. Any interruption could sent some over the edge. Lack of an ambulance for 30 minutes could mean death.
  16. Cavalier attitude considering how many people are dependant on their phones, especially for emergency calls.
  17. T-Mobile completely brought down its sites several times in Columbus last night for B71. Took about 20 minutes between 6:30 and 7pm (prime time). Not impressed. Sprint typically would wait until midnight, a far less busy time. Personally think they should give warnings like "We plan on bringing up more low band capacity tomorrow evening. Service interruptions are possible."
  18. One thing I will miss about Sprint is them waiting until midnight to bring up new sites etc. T-Mobile completely brought down its sites several times in Columbus last night for B71, between 6:30 and 7pm (prime time). Not impressed. Sprint typically would wait until midnight, a far less busy time. Personally think they should give warnings like "We plan on bringing up more low band capacity tomorrow evening. Service interruptions are possible."
  19. Modem frequency reporting working fine on rooted LG G2s using Android 5.x with latest SCP.
  20. The key issue is to convert markets as quickly as possible while doing a good job. I would only deal with the outliers in terms of T-Mobile roaming on Sprint. After all, it plays against their marketing message.
  21. As of March 31st you could go to the settings for each one of your devices on Sprint.com and just check a box to add it on your account. I have not looked since then. Let us know if you have issues by posting a new thread under general topics.
  22. You guys seen any n41/b41 going up on T-Mobile sites yet? Or AWS 600/700 on Sprint sites? Pics if possible would be great. Stay safe.
  23. I am on everything data 1500 along with a few others here. Reasons to stay: corporate discount, you have many lines, 200 more MB per month of roaming data, 5g access, no VPN or gaming limits, full resolution on videos, 50 GB per month hotspot, Hulu and or AAA. Post on Reddit for reasons against, mainly $$. Personally waiting for market to be converted before committing to any carrier. Will then look at new plans. Secondary rounds of layoffs will hit economy harder. 2nd wave of Covid-19 would be worse but if we can quickly ramp up testing to billions per year we should be fine and start to recover. Best wireless prices will be then.
