  1. 1) Does s22 have SCP n7 problem instead of n41? Curious if so, does android 13 fix it?

    2) Curious if band selector app or other method allows band selection. Does latest samfw method still work with 13?

  2. Continuing with other FRNs for New or cancelled leases

Uses instant leases, so may already be effective.

    Places affected:

    T-Mobile to Verizon:

    B2: BTA437-Sunbury-Shamokin, PA, BTA360-Pottsville, PA, BTA041-Billing,s MT, BTA171-Great Falls, MT, BTA037-Bemidji, MN, Portion of MTA032-Des Moines-Quad Cities, Portion of MTA030-Portland, OR, Portion of MTA005-Detroit, MI, BTA380-Rockford, IL, BTA049-Blythville, AR,

AWS: Portion of BEA024 – Columbia, SC,  Portion of MTA040-Little Rock, AR.

These may be part of another deal or one already mentioned.

  3. Poking around the ULS and picked up that T-Mobile is cancelling a few 2.5GHz leases to third parties.  Cancelling leases should result in immediate frequency gains, like what we have seen in Houston, which is listed below.  I will link you to the map, but if you shift to the lease tab you can see what is cancelled.  Limiting to the last six months here is what I spotted:

    San Diego, CA: https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/licenseMap.jsp?licKey=2589293  https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/licenseMap.jsp?licKey=2592255

    San Jose, CA: https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/licenseMap.jsp?licKey=2588169  https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/licenseMap.jsp?licKey=2592881

    San Francisco, CA: https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/licenseMap.jsp?licKey=2588212

    Omaha, NE: https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/licenseMap.jsp?licKey=2590253

    Fort Collin, Co: https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/licenseMap.jsp?licKey=2588494

    San Bernardino, CA: https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/licenseMap.jsp?licKey=2591310

    Alexandria, MN: https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/licenseMap.jsp?licKey=2592442

    Port Aurthur, TX: https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/licenseMap.jsp?licKey=2588328

    Houston, TX: https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/licenseMap.jsp?licKey=2586219

I could go back further, but people may have already noticed the others.  Will check for other bands, which could be done for rural expansion.

  4. It would not surprise me if the Boost Mobile agreements with their dealers are very unstructured, thus cause management issues.  Diary Queen was/is? that way.  Many of their franchise agreements were reportedly written on napkins. I have seen al sorts of items sold in Boost Mobile locations.  nTelos was the same way.  Of course many of these sites may be bill paying locations since some of their customers may be unbanked.

Dish has struggled with Boost. In the second quarter it dropped another 210,000 retail wireless net subscribers, bringing its total number of wireless subscribers to 7.87 million. The company has lost 1.1 million wireless customers since it acquired Boost Mobile.”

Oh well. I guess Charlie could only deny reality for so long…

    Sprint 2: Electric Boogaloo

I think the reality is most customers (and staff) could tolerate one sim change.  Two was confusing.  The prospect of a third change has not been explained at all.

Personally, I see interesting technical prospects.  But will that sell?

I can confirm TMo has n25-SA+n41-SA+n41-SA aggregation working. As an aside, I found a working method to activate all bands over on XDA.

link for XDA working methods please.

A new SignalCheck beta update is rolling out now and should be available within the hour. Wi-Fi 6E support was added, and I made another attempt to fix n41 displaying as n7 and/or n38.

Please check out those issues and let me know.. thanks!

Wi-Fi 6e is identified and shows correctly.  Wi-Fi 6 just shows as Wi-Fi, like the phone icon on the A32 5g, but the s21 ultra shows it as Wi-Fi 6 in icon.

I did try the n7 fix.  No go on the Samsung Galaxy a32 5g.  I send diags. Hopefully nailed soon.  Thanks.

Hard to imagine they're actually worth much as easy as they are to get free though.....they keep sending them out unsolicited like nuts.  We just got like a 3rd packet of them less than a month ago and got another email notifying "SIM card is on the way".

Only time I have gotten a free sim from them is when I "purchased" some "free" phones from T-Mobile, unless I go back to when they were a distant 4th carrier.  My four other MVNOs are feast or famine, so I try to keep several hanging around.  I have noticed different versions have different capabilities, and newer is not always better.  They typically force you to upgrade when you need to activate another discount period.

Half joking/half serious post:  Is there an aftermarket for TMo physical SIMs?  If they keep sending us SIM's trying to ram replacement down our throats regarding my wife's A32 5G with this frequency I'd love to cash in at some point ha 🤪

E-bay.  The physical sims do have one advantage: they are not tied to your phone, thus you can change phones mostly without your carriers permission (except Sprint billing). Benefits signal hunters, travellers, and thieves.

Anyone know why Signal check Pro shows NR38 when connected to SA NR41?

    Whate does *#0011# show?

On the Galaxy S21 Ultra Unlocked and the Galaxy A32 5G, n41 is often reported as n7 in Columbus, OH..  *#0011# may show it is coming from the firmware.  Mike is trying to correct this in the SCP software.  Cellmapper shows it correctly.  Rooted NSG uses modem commands.

Are there any devices on which NSG will lock 5G-NR?  Doesn't offer the option on my Moto One 5G Aces or on my (now dead) One Plus N10 5G.

And I didn't think the Snapdragon Samsungs could be rooted.

Ok tested with T-Mobile sim that uses T-Mobile billing (different from TNX) and had no issues connection to SA n71 on A32 5g factory unlocked.

Also tried Tello on unlocked S21 Ultra with SA 71 and had no n71 at all.

The one plus used to be good for that, but we're taken over.  Trying to do it with a one plus nord 200 5g. Need to back it up to android 11 first because 12 has so many issues.  Then ask them to give me the key for the bootloader which takes a week. Then root it. Might take me a while but can keep you posted.

Actually think the issue with n71 is a mvno network restriction. Will try to get a real T-Mobile sim and test it (T-Mobile has not seen fit to move my billing off Sprint nor light up fully upgraded tower for 18 months. Grrr.)

Well, I saw a good deal on a factory unlocked A32 5G on eBay and was able to convince the seller to show me the software info screen--and it was May.  So I jumped on it.

Stuck one of my Tello SIMs in it, and while my Moto One 5G Ace would connect to n71 SA, this phone refuses to do so.  And with only 0 for the TA value, it's less useful for LTE than my older devices.

Oh, and the *#2263# menu doesn't work properly for NR.  So definitely glad I'm able to disable updates.

    - Trip

*#2263 menu working at all surprised me given unlocked firmware.  Besides Tello, I also use Boost Mobile on T-Mobile and the Samsung band selection app.  On Tello it would find n71 SA including site details, but not connect.  On Boost using T-Mobile, the behavior is the same. except it only has the n71 band.  In both cases you also get neighbors.

Can connect to n71 SA with T-Mobile locked phone with TNX.  Then put in Tello sim and rebooted, which works with psim but reported not esim on esim phones. Mobile IP address does not work. Outbound calls ring once and die with any sim in Columbus, OH.  Boost Mobile using T-Mobile network is stuck on connecting... like unlocked (can see site info and neighbors).

Could always root it I guess and try NSG which uses modem commands iirc.  A53 5G unlocked  with before June firmware another option.

  15. Sent in diags for latest beta not correctly reporting channel number for Wi-Fi 6E.  It was reported as zero when it was 5, frequency 5975 MHz with 160MHz width or had it at channel 21 6055 MHz  (the same results).  I could not do Samsung diags since it was using a Verizon network sim.  Will put in a T-Mobile sim next time to get those details.

Given that the Wi-Fi icon on many phones reports this as 6e or when in 5GHz as 6, perhaps the Wi-Fi subheading should change to Wi-Fi 6 / Wi-Fi 6E, especially since the low end of 6E starts at 5955 MHz.

So they just gave up 10Mhz of AWS from parts of Nebraska and Iowa? They didn't have that much to begin with. I'm not sure I understand why they would do that.

The auction 108 winnings should more than offset this change, except the north east quadrant of Cuming County (population 9,000 roughly).

Looking further at the Nebraska counties: In the 2.5Ghz ED auction, it looks like T-Mobile picked up C2 and C3 in Burt, Cuming, Wayne and all 3 (C1, C2, C3) in Antelope, Madison, Pierce, Staton.  Now of course this is just white space.  Looking further at Cuming County, one license for 22.5MHz clips the extreme NE corner of the county https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/licenseMap.jsp?licKey=2586636 (change the map to show 2010 county boundaries).  About the same for Wayne.  The second of two licenses is more interesting and basically seems to follow the boundaries of the Winnebago and Omaha Reservations. It strongly affects the NE quadrant of the county with over 116Mhz. https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/licenseMap.jsp?licKey=4511340

For those not familiar, C1 = 49.5 MHz, C2 = 50.5 MHz, and C3 = 17.5 MHz which is next to BR thus typically valuable to T-Mobile.  BR did not change in this case thus did not matter.  Also note that T-Mobile has been aggressive about buying up ED licenses typically within the year before they expire.
