  1. I feel like this topic would be better in the "General Topics" forum, but anyways...

Odds are, an S5 would probably be out in the March to April time frame, at least from what I have seen. And I'm pretty sure AJ has posted an article on The Wall talking about the tri-band S4. I would suggest looking at that (if you haven't already).

  2. Across from my neighborhood at -114 dBm on LTE, I got about 4Mbps down and 0.3 up.  Definitely worked well for everything I threw at it.  You don't really need anymore than a steady 1mbps for just about anything (even streaming video).  Pandora works fine for my ride and that's mostly what I care about. ;)

At my house I get pretty much that exact same speed on that kind of signal strength. I also get -95 to -105 dBm of NV 3G where I usually get <150 ms and <0.8Mbps down and up, and I'm still able to browse the internet and listen to Pandora acceptably quickly.

  3. Looks like a small caliber bullet was used, probably a .22, anyway talk about a 1 in a million shot.

Yeah, had it been anything bigger then it probably would have gone clean thru. Seems like someone was having a pretty lucky day (other than being held up and shot at).

  4. Hello,

I switched to Sprint recently from Verizon to take advantage of unlimited data. I live in the Boston area and the coverage has been just as good (if not better) in most locations than Verizon. However, the one place where I need my phone to work (at work) I have barely any reception. I live outside of Boston and get LTE, and my work is right in the middle of Boston, and I get No Service/Extended 1x etc. The minute I walk outside of the building, the service goes back up and I get 3G/LTE.

Before you say that it is the building that is obstructing the signal, when I had Verizon before, I had a good signal on LTE in the same building. I also had good service in the building when I had T-Mobile. Several months ago when I was on Verizon, I was talking to a friend who had Sprint. At the time, he said he has great reception, in the same building. He had LTE. Now neither of us can get service in the building anymore.

I am not sure what the problem is, if there is an outage or something. I figured that somebody on here would know.

    Thanks.

What kind of signal strength do you get when you walk outside? If you only have 1 or 2 bars, I would think there is an outage of some sort near you. If you walk out and have 4 or 5 bars, I would think that there is something in your building all of a sudden that is interfering with your cellular signal.

  5. For anyone who apparently deemed my post "trolling," you are wrong.  And you need to get a thicker skin.  Fraydog teed it up, and I drove the green.  I take advantage of those humorous opportunities in countless threads at S4GRU.

My post here was relevant commentary on iOS devices being behind the times, especially as that pertains to Sprint.  Plus, it was just sharp comedy.

If you cannot see and appreciate that, then you are in too deep with iOS apologetics.  At S4GRU, an iOS related thread is not your private sandbox.  Criticism is welcome.  Apple has been no friend to Sprint, so if any animosity bubbles to the surface, you should understand that.

    AJ

I love it when people joke about my iPhone; most of the things they say are true and it's nice to know that Android user's have a sense of humor :) I use an iPhone because I'm an Apple person when it comes to mobile devices; I have always loved them and I most likely always will. That tri-band S4 is looking a little tempting though....

  6. verizon and att are just ridiculous. my gf gets LTE on her att gs3 indoors everywhere. All the while i'm struggling to get sprint LTE outdoors on my note3...

That's just because Verizon and AT&T are using frequencies that are less than half of what Sprint is using for LTE (currently). When Sprint has 800 MHz LTE rolled out in your area, all your problems will go away (If you get a device that can support 800 MHz LTE) :)

  7. I've had times where my iPhone said Extended LTE for brief periods of time.  I would go to check the field test screen, and was on Sprint LTE, but I didn't check the 1X screens.  I'm guessing I was doing voice roaming somehow, but was still getting an LTE signal.

I've encountered the same thing recently, but it seems like it's just a bug in iOS 7, because if I flick the phone into airplane mode then back out it comes up as saying Sprint LTE in the corner with the same amount of bars and the same info in the field test screen. I was so excited when I saw it but then when I did the airplane mode thing I got really sad :(
