  1. Plmn list is in the SIM card. It contains a list of plmn that are native and what to roam on. That is why I needed roaming turned on to connect and the galaxy s6 did not. It can be updated OTA so just try ##update#.

I will be in charlottesville tonight so hopefully the note 4 update I got last week will fix things. And just to be safe I will also ##update#.

Fyi - I haven't seen any hint of LTE in C'ville so far (Sprint M9). Still on EVDO all the time despite LTE/CDMA setting for mobile networks, PRL update, profile update, ##update#, etc.

  2. This landed on my desktop:

FYI: nTelos Outbound LTE Roaming Service Adds Coverage in Virginia & West Virginia - All Dealers

Customers in Virginia and West Virginia will have access to outbound LTE roaming. An updated PLMN file will be pushed to LTE enabled android devices with USIM cards and LTE enabled Apple devices with CSIM cards each day (including weekends) starting 11/6.

Does this refer to the seemingly more frequent unannounced/unexplained "service updates" that have happened lately?

  3. Got a nice birthday present this evening. On my way to Staunton for a swing band gig, I got this:

    Waynesboro:

    Fishersville:

When I mentioned this to a bandmate, he said he's on nTelos and pointed out the irony of getting LTE all over C'ville just when he received the notice about nTelos being sold. Still no LTE for us Sprint-sters, though. [emoji53]

  4. This is good news...

Sprint to deploy 4G LTE service in 279 New York City subway stations

    http://www.androidcentral.com/sprint-deploy-4g-lte-service-279-new-york-city-subway-stations

When I was in NYC last week, I did get service in some of the larger/busier mid-town subway stations, but I do not  remember that it was LTE. Maybe it's different this week (now that I'm back home!)   :(

  5. Good representation of spectrum assets.

    http://www.fiercewireless.com/special-reports/2015-how-much-lte-spectrum-do-verizon-att-t-mobile-and-sprint-have-and-wher?confirmation=123

Looks like Sprint only has 15-20Mhz in nothern Phoenix?  Is that correct, even with Clearwire's/Nextel's spectrum?

I'm curious how much the relative dearth in Central Virginia is a result of nTelos and how much it will change as Shentel starts updating the network.

  6. So, this was unusual today - SCP showing connection to nTelos tower WITH location. I've never seen that before. Gotta wonder if something's happening . . .

    (More wondering)

(Thought I took a screenshot, apparently did not)

EDIT: Here ya go - shows up on notification, but not the full screen:  (2nd EDIT - I found the setting in SCP that allows BSL address when a Note is present.  Duhhh!!!  OK, move along, nothing to see here . . .))

  7. You can see from May 2015 and the pic from today that there are some losses from 3g to light purple.  White Hall area, some of 64 west bound areas, Rivanna area, some of 29 south and some area's of Lake Monticello all lost some dark purple to light purple.

So, I just checked the coverage map for sprint Spark, and did NOT see the orange blob in the middle of C'ville as shown on your screenshot.  Neither when no device was specified, and when I specified for my M9.
