Certainly nobody has to agree with me, but I've had my hands on the AT&T model, and I own a LG phone already. I also said I was monetizing the bloatware at 700mAH, to each their own. I also have very little desire to root the phone, I barely want to touch the engineering screens more than to be curious and sniff around/post screenshots for the benefit of the forum. If sprint won't activate phones purchased through the play store because they plan to sell their own version, we'll all have a chance to put our hands on both in a store.

I figure the LG bloatware will cost about 700mAH battery per day, so I'm personally calling it a draw. You can make that decision on your own though on what the software will burn through.

Any movement regarding a LTE version of the G Pad?
-
i'll take the 50 bucks less AND lose the g2 bloatware..hardware is identical or nearly so.....
I'm with you. The IR blaster on the G2 doesn't do a whole lot for me (I prefer my harmony ultimate). If it's only available through sprint channels I may reconsider and put my focus back on the G2. Hows the 4G up in Brunswick?
-
Really meticulous question for those few owners so far, but does group SMS work on the messaging app, or do I still need to use handcent?
-
Went to Best Buy, Target, and Walmart tonight outside of DC... the only one to have a dummy up was Best Buy and it was the Verizon version with the small buttons. Is this trend of not giving this phone a solid push national, or just around Washington? I wanna play with it!
-
FYI, I've been to three AT&T owned stores and several mall kiosks for them and have not seen the G2. Hopefully Sprint puts this in people's hands...
-
Do we know if group sms will be supported by LG/Sprint out of the box, or will handcent need to go on this device as well?
-
Well silly me. I knew the G2 was but I was under the impression the nexus was not.
-
The worst part about being on the fence between the G2 and the nexus is that the government shutdown has shut down the FCC. To my knowledge, it hasn't been approved. Hopefully this all gets straightened out soon (and not for our phone dirt, but everyone around here out of work) and we get a concrete release date. I guess they could hold a press event saying "release pending congressional resolution"...

Also, presented without commentary, this is the default alarm:
sweet jesus.

Sort of on topic, but does anyone have any dirt on the new G2's sister the Gpad being available in a cellular version?

Just thought I would mention that I am picking up 4G in several areas in Burke VA!
I am very happy, but also a little surprised since Burke VA is not a large metropolitan area.
Until I got SignalCheck and NV started, I had no idea there were that many Sprint towers near me.
I've been getting it up and down Little River for the most part between 495 and Old Town, I'm working near the corner of little river and pickett. Faint 4G on Fairfax Blvd out by golfsmith too.

As a former delivery driver, I can appreciate the disappoint of not being able to talk on speaker and have waze tell me if there is a better way to navigate between stops. It stinks that "business-friendly" sprint built out a system that doesn't allow voice and data simultaneously. Makes about as much sense as direct connect not working on LTE. Even using direct connect and google maps at the same time was difficult on the torque when I had one.
Either way, I'm gonna try and get to a AT&T or Verizon store this weekend and get my hands on one. I stopped by an AT&T store on launch day and they didn't even have a dummy phone out. Oh well.

Cleatus, just putting info out there. I wouldn't take offense from someone else's work. If you didn't like that, you really won't like phone arena's article comparing it to the S4. On an unrelated note, a sprint store manager spoke to their LG rep and told me that Sprint would be the last to carry the device, and said "maybe 2 months unfortunately". Maybe they'll have a sale when you buy the G2 and the gpad?

Phonearena.com's review of the device: http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/LG-G2-Review_id3404
FWIW, they've been talking about they only had a non-US model since the announcement, I didn't see in the article whether it was a domestic carrier model or the one LG gave them.

I didn't have sensorly turned on doing passive mapping, but up near CUA and most of Rhode Island Avenue (NW and NE), my phone was showing 4G. Some pockets downtown with 3G but hopefully those get patched up before hockey season starts.

An amazing thing happened while I was away this weekend. The tower at 17th and Corcoran (Dupont/Logan Circles) finally got backhaul and is broadcasting LTE. Hopefully, more backhaul is installed this week and next.
I bow to the backhaul gods!
Dangit. And I was just at M and Rhode Island today and didn't bother checking. Good find. I hope the backhaul gods make their way 10 blocks east and 6 blocks south and get Verizon Center the capacity it needs for events... I drained an entire battery trying to tweet a picture at a caps playoff game this year. I'd be happy with reliable 3G in the arena!

I will double-check that rumor.
My thinking is that Sprint will want as much time as possible to get their Tri-Band infrastructure in place as this is almost definitely the first such device being released.
The extra couple of weeks won't make someone drop Sprint and go elsewhere just to get this phone.
At least I hope not.
Just my $.02

I easily could and would. The nearly doubling of my bill to go to AT&T would pay for itself in reliability, waiting 2 weeks to stay on service teetering on the edge of fully reliable is hard to quantify.

Back in June I was getting LTE in Ballston, Virginia Square & Clarendon areas to name a few.
Hm. I work on Quincy St and even standing out front on the sidewalk I get nothing.

I was at Dulles Town Center and then Wegmans and had 3G in both. Kinda disappointed. I even flipped airplane mode on and off to make sure it wasn't the phone not getting the signal. Sensorly also says there are 4G reports in the Ballston area of Arlington but I spend my 40 hours a week there and have yet to see it.
-
4G is sporadic through Arlington, with the best shot being up and down Lee Highway between Lexington and Quincy. Hopefully the East Falls Church Metro area gets the treatment next, 3G service usually fades to 1X near the station. I have sensorly installed on my work phone but turning 4G on turns off direct connect so I can only really contribute to the maps at night.

I'm getting multiple checkout problems. Let's see if this clears up soon...
