More fairfax updates. Same standards:
- Inside Trader Joe's at Little River/Pickett, stationary - 2 bars, -101dbm 39asu. cnn.com article via android news app took 20+ seconds to load
- Little River Turnpike, headed eastbound - 3 bars, -89dbm, 51asu. Did not test website, just did a screenshot (I was driving)
- Little River at NVCC, headed eastbound - 1 bar, -106dbm, 34asu. Did not test website
- Little River at 495, headed eastbound - 3G, -75dbm, 8asu cdma ehrpd. Did not test website.
Sprint still has plenty of work to do in Fairfax!

So the long-awaited City of Fairfax updates. I took three samples along Old Lee Highway on a non-rooted nexus 5, running the .23 baseband and using the android settings data (not signalcheck).
- Shopping center at Old Lee/Main St (Walgreens, Ace, Qdoba etc) stationary in parking lot- 3/4 bars, -92db 48asu, phonearena.com took 14 seconds to load though
- Old Lee in front of St Leo the Great, moving eastbound - All bars illuminated, -84dbm 56asu, grubgrade.com took 17 seconds to load
- Fairfax Circle, stopped at signal - One bar, -108dbm 32asu. I headed east on 50 towards Pickett and lost my 4G signal before m.weather.com could load
Not the best performance by the network today. I'll take some more samples tomorrow and/or sunday.

I keep forgetting to screenshot my trips around the area. I can say that service was below average in Merrifield today, not sure if Sprint needs to play catch-up with the influx of people or there was work, but basic gchat and tweeting took 2-3x as long.
-
I work in the eastern end of Fairfax City, I typically pull 3-4 bars on LTE. I will report on signal strength on Friday.

I saw the behavior nice while traveling. Nothing would make it find a signal other than a reset. I sort of chalked it up to having tri-band enabled, but maybe not.
I have not rooted my phone or played with LTE settings and this happened several times on my way home from work today. I was hoping it was tower work...

I've been having issues pushing out MMS as well. I'm outside of DC and have been having trouble the last 3 days or so. Resisting calling sprint and hoping anyone with similar issues has found a workaround.

Anyone been picking up any of this new CDMA800 in DC/Baltimore? And how was the signal strength?
-
Has anybody in the Miami area picked up a Nexus5? Just curious to see what the LTE connectivity is like with this phone in Miami
Sent from my HTC EVO 4G LTE
I'm in Delray on a long weekend with my N5 and LTE has been pretty stable up here, it starts to fade the further south I go. Sunrise blvd had no data at all, I had rough data in Sawgrass Mills and the Hard Rock, and being in the BB&T Center last night completely drained my battery. I was down here 2 years ago for hockey and the same problem happened. I read the site acceptance reports daily and was hoping for better luck down here but it's baffling that the areas with the highest concentrations (malls, sports arenas, airports) have the worst service.
-
ALL service was absolutely abysmal in the Seven Corners area today, hopefully the finishing touches were going on some new towers.

Took mine out in the area yesterday.. was as far west as George Mason University, as far east as Union Station, and as far south as Springfield (that forms a nice little downward pointing triangle for those unfamiliar with the DC area). LTE reception compared to my Viper was SUPERB, very few 3G sightings, but surprise surprise, it couldn't handle the device traffic in the Verizon Center during a hockey game. It's happened with every sprint phone I've had where I end up with 1X. I guess I need to poke around and unlock all three bands to see if I can jump on a different one.

Was it noted if the charger that comes in the box is quick charge 2.0 compatible? And has anyone timed their charges to see how long it takes with the included charger and a car charger?
-
Anyone seen any cases out in brick and mortars? Spigen dragged their feet shipping my case I bought on ebay and it's ETA is tuesday...
-
The rocky start was just getting it to connect period. Once I got bars, they were LTE bars.
-
Rocky start to the chat but my 32GB black is live on LTE without doing any tinkering on the engineering screens. I don't have signalcheck pro installed but the settings screens have me at -100dBm 37asu just outside of Washington DC. Marginally better than the signal on my Viper. I'll be roaming around your nations capital tomorrow and will report back with how it behaves.

So "Blue" on the sprint community forum has advised folks with a 32GB model and a valid sim card to private message him ---> https://community.sprint.com/baw/community/buzzaboutwireless/phones-and-devices/lg/nexus-5/blog/2013/10/31/sprint-product-ambassadors-nexus-5--gimme-some-of-that-kitkat
Take this as you will. In other news, it looks like my SIM card went out to lunch, took a nap, and is now leaving for your Nations Capital... a day longer than it really should:
Louisville, KY, United States 11/04/2013 11:43 P.M. Departure Scan 11/04/2013 3:38 P.M. Arrival Scan 11/04/2013 2:57 P.M. Departure Scan 11/04/2013 1:52 P.M. Origin Scan -
I'm guessing all the other nerds on the east coast are trying to download this update because I'm getting very little traction on this download.

oowee getting this UICC card with an Employee account is almost next to impossible. I finally got someone to order one for me but its being shipped 3-5 days. Tried to get another one overnighted but can't find anyone who knows how to order one for an employee account. Phone comes tomorrow, and I'll try the store but otherwise looks like I won't have a fully functioning nexus 5 until later this week.
Call SERO telesales at 18888824030 and then they will transfer you to international. It was pretty easy once they got their collective shit together at HQ.
-
International chat told me to call the SERO helpline, who told me to call SERO telesales, who transferred me back to international. It's still showing as "order in progress" on my account, but before I hung up I verified I was getting the correct size. She made no mention of a charge or shipping speed, but given my proximity to Kentucky, I'm hoping to get it Tuesday or Wednesday.
-
It should be noted that the international chat link does not work for those on SERO plans. I'm on hold with the SERO line now... Third shot

Did either of those stores offer repair services?
They were the only ones I bothered calling. In suburban DC, almost all of the official sprint stores have repair centers. It makes sense if they don't have any since UPS doesn't deliver on the weekends (usually).
-
Just tried two stores for a sim card. First store had no idea what a nexus 5 was, second store immediately told me no. I feel like I should just pick back up monday...
-
I just got shut down on the international line step-by-step, I even told them I knew the part number I needed and the woman was unwilling to process. I'll start making phone calls tomorrow. If anyone in greater DC needs to find one or has found one in a store, let's shoot some PM's around with good/bad stores.
-
My status still says pending. If it gets pushed to 11/22, I will be very upset. Will be interesting to see if the Sprint store version has sprintzone, nascar mobile etc loaded on it. If it doesn't, and the ship date gets pushed back, might bite the bullet and re-sign (I'm off contract now as of 8/31).
-
Any idea how long Google takes to ship? I chose 2 days instead of the other option.
My pending order page says it leaves the warehouse on 11/5... I've never ordered a device from google but I'm guessing it ships from California?
