Still waiting on the OTA. At this rate I'll be side loading it when I get home. Side note, las Vegas on 4.4.2 is a nightmare.
-
Right now I'm at Boulder and Trop with -85 on B25 (obviously), so you're right there. Wouldn't mind B41 for when I'm deep in the canal shoppes or miracle mile but one can hope I'm one of the lucky ones in the next 4 days. That or Rio doesn't me mind installing the android SDK on the desktop computers they have in the diamond lounge

Been roaming the strip with my stock N5 running 4.4.2 still and I am far from impressed. Not sure if its from not being updated (4.4.3 hasn't been pushed and I don't have a PC to sideload), volume, or NV hardware but my battery has been going straight down trying to find 3g. I did manage to hold a 40 minute call starting at Sahara/Decatur and going north of downtown, over to 95, and back down to boulder so I guess there's that. Hoping I'm one of the lucky recipients of 4.4.3 tomorrow!

Still waiting on an OTA too. Traveled to las Vegas without my laptop so I have to be patient I guess. LTE is a complete crap shoot (no pun intended) on the strip.

Not sure what the big 4 have to do with it. The phone doesn't work on VZW, it is not an official AT&T device (so they don't have to provide support). The only carriers that offered it officially are the little 2, Sprint and T-Mobile.

If 4.4.2 has bugs involving dropping data, the camera bug, battery drain etc, and they have devices running 4.4.2 (not just the nexus), they would want 4.4.3 to be released sooner rather than later so they can push it to their customers so their customers can stop calling support or going to stores complaining of said problems.
-
So I think I'm in the camp that Google is waiting for the next release of android to give us spark. To me, it would be foolish to mess around with 4.4.x this close to the speculated next release.

I would hope the OEM's and the big 4 would put pressure on them to push out an update, especially if it fixes data connection problems, so at the very least they don't have to hear about it from customers that have 4.4.2.

Does the One having a google play edition model come in to play with this HTC article? Perhaps that is the holdup? Or is it Nexus > GPE Handsets > Dispersed to big 4
EDIT - And there I go reading the entire article and figuring it out for myself.
-
Also we have a unconfirmed memo that the update is coming tomorrow the 24th.

I still can't update hangouts through the play store! I'll be able to use a computer for more than 30 seconds tomorrow so maybe I'll sideload it.

I found that the n5 had issues with keyed responses when you have a low signal. Nut only then. Toggling a sound on and off will have no effect. It is a coincidence
I even switched back to 3G and it was the same problem. Glad we have a fix though.

As per Android Police, merged SMS/Gchat messages in one page if you'd like (apparently you can de-couple), easier to edit moods/statuses, and a new notification tone!
-
Has anyone updated hangouts yet and if so what do you have to report about functionality?
-
Well data on the way up and calls on the way back. Live streaming XM on my phone went less than swimmingly on the way up, and I missed a call on the way back.
-
MISERABLE signal along the beltway in Montgomery, between 270 and Silver Spring. Have not had a problem with signal dropping but traveling to Atlantic City and back was rough all over, this was just the only spot on the trip pertinent to this thread.
-
Go into the play store, go to the top left menu, go to settings, go to Auto-update apps, click "Do not auto-update apps". That value is set to "Auto-update apps over Wi-Fi only" by default.
This is a very good idea, since it allows you to view any new permissions apps need. I haven't updated Facebook for about 3 months now because the newer versions want access to your dialer and text messages.
-
Never had the data drop outs until today... Drove from northern va up to Atlantic city and I either had voice and no data or nothing at all at least 6 times. Would like to get an update before I head home since Baltimore is a spark market and I have to stop and poke around for awhile.

yup coming into contact with any NFC chip will make that noise.
Thanks! I was under the impression it was a bluetooth type relationship with hardware and peripherals...
-
I don't see how your phone recognizing the NFC chip in the cards is an issue, that just means the NFC in your phone is working.
But is that a normal reaction by the handset?
-
Two issues that just came to my attention over the weekend -
1) At the gym with bluetooth headphones, hopped off elliptical, walked to trashcan (15 feet away), walked back to elliptical+phone and the audio jumped 5 or 10db. It didn't soften walking to the trash can though.
2) When I set my phone on top of my wallet, occasionally I'll hear a strange tone. Is there an issue with the NFC chip coming too close to Paywave/Paypass credit cards or a metro rfid card?

Did not check for signal strength (was showing 1 bar), but LTE was unusable today in Westover (Arlington). Had to dial back to 3G and was flooded with emails. Only had 1 bar of 3G fwiw. Hopefully some serious improvements on the way, but that area was already pretty good...

Well 1-2 miles SW of the Cemetery would put you near Shirlington, which is a pretty sweet place at night. Lots of bars and restaurants of varying style. There's a strip of restaurants and bars on S. 23rd St in Crystal City that are all very nice. Monuments, cherry blossoms bla bla bla. Coverage in Arlington is pretty good, downtown is a crapshoot. None of the buildings are very tall but they're almost all stone facades which doesn't do your phone any favors.

So does anybody know the deal with the lack of voicemail notifications? I get none when someone leaves me a message. I did some sniffing on the web and apparently it's quite widespread. I haven't got my MSL yet so I can't horse with the bands, which sucks cuz I knows there's band 41 everywhere! And probably band 26 too. I so far do like the phone very much. I got red and it's more of a dark orange then red. I like how fast texts go through. They were slow on the iPhone and S3. Adjusting to android from iOS has been much easier for me then previous versions of both. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Some will say to incorporate google voice to your device, I haven't. Holding the 1 button will work but you have to set your mailbox up.

Anyone else been through tysons lately and suffered the fate of ABYSMAL data? I was in Tysons Galleria today and couldn't hold voice or any data (maybe it's a building issue), but cutting behind on International and Spring Hill to go to Walmart I had bars but couldn't push texts out or get any data whatsoever. I originally thought it was a capacity issue but my service was fine in Tysons 1, plus I was in the seedy underbelly of Tysons Corner using Spring Hill and Tyco...

Mine worked just fine.
What time did you check? I set my alarm for 7:50a and it sounded at 8:50a
-
So my phone needed a reboot for the clock to show the correct time. I also needed a damn good excuse why I hadn't showered, eaten breakfast, or arrived to work on time today... Not thrilled. Anyone with a second handset on sprint notice a delay in updating the time or was this device specific?

If I were you I'd wait a few weeks for G3 information before going through with a purchase, especially since it sounds like youll be paying close to retail if you have a 5S now.
