  1. Trip, there is a tower on top of Science and Tech I (if that's even what it's called still), but I have no idea what they have spectrum wise. Our next visit is from the backhaul engineer so I'll ask him what he knows about the service there. Building materials didn't prevent my friends with AT&T from posting pictures though. I was parked in lot A by the old police station when the trouble started. It's too bad professer Kelley died, he was good friends with my Dad. He could have probably let me climb the tower if I asked nicely.

  2. The good news is when the Massey building is torn down at the Fairfax court complex, the big 4 will be moving their antennas to The Fairfax Building, which my company owns. So once the city green lights all the site plans we have from Sitelink Wireless for their antennas on OUR roof, I'll be posting plenty of build out pictures.

  3. I went to the patriot center for some UFC action today and could not believe how absurdly awful the service is at GMU. Sitting in my truck in the parking lot I volleyed between LTE and 1X, and could not use my phone in the arena. I remember being on the event floor in 2010 for graduation and not being able to use it but 5 years later and no improvement is embarrassing.

  4. Seems like the system is at odds with itself. Trying to connect to the gym network (which is a crapshoot) hasn't improved, but occasionally when I check, the icon tray says LTE but the wifi settings says connected. Signal check pro says connected but mobile data connection active. Anyone else notice this?

  5. my battery life has a similar slope with mostly idle usage as well.

the 5.0.2 seemed to help flatten out my n7 battery, hopefully it rolls out to n5's quickly.

My phone has the update device card open and a system pop up that says the network is preparing your services, please wait... for about 5 minutes now. Hopefully it's 5.0.2 but I also did do a device swap today

  6. It sounds like network side eCSFB issues. Since a call can't be done on LTE until Sprint implements Voice over LTE, eCSFB is supposed to notify the handset to switch to 3G CDMA to accept the call. Since it sounds like calls work perfectly on 3G, and you're not on some experimental radio like the .15 radio that some people love, it doesn't seem like a handset issue. From what I know, it does sound like a network issue and doesn't have anything to do with your handset.

If you've had no problems with LTE prior to recently, perhaps your area is getting Sprint upgrades to enable LTE Band 41 or Band 26, but they didn't fix eCSFB on those bands. That seemed to be a problem that a few markets were having when getting new LTE bands.

Yeah I'm changing everything in the network settings, not debug menu. Band 41 is pretty solid around here but I have noticed when signal check pro says I'm on 26 the tests don't work. In a previous office in a different part of town I had fringe lte service and had similar issues but leaving it in global mode made sure I got everything timely (for the most part). Will chalk it up to DC not being an official LTE market. I'll continue to tinker and call my N5 from the land line until my boss asks what the hell I'm doing all day...

  7. Forgive me if this has been addressed prior, but I noticed something funny of late. When network mode is LTE, incoming calls do not come in. Further, instead of going to voicemail I get a busy signal after 7 or 8 rings when I call my phone. Texts come in on occasion, and outgoing calls go just fine. Is this related to LTE in the DC area still being a work in progress or do I need to tinker with some settings/duke it out with sprint chat for a new SIM?

  8. Had my first spark experience today in beautiful Baltimore, Maryland and boy was I underwhelmed. In public places there were plenty of handoffs, with the phone mostly using B41. Once within close proximity to Oriole Park, the service went straight down. From my seat, I cycled through B25, B41, 1X, and no service at all, without moving from my seat (upper deck). Killed my battery in the process (thank god I went to best buy and got the right mophie). I was the only one in my group with Sprint so I didn't have much to go on in terms of comparing devices. Plus the Orioles lost, but that's beside the point. Does anyone else have commentary from their device (post 4.4.3 update) in sporting events from different cities?

  9. The phone self-regulates amp input. I think the most it let's in is 2.1. Voltage is what you have to look out for, but ISB is always 5. :)

Thanks! Max output is 2.1, just didn't wanna blow the damn thing up. Looking forward to traversing through a true spark market for the first time tomorrow. The real test will be when I take it to Oriole Park to see how it handles in crowds and what band(s) I get pushed to.

  10. On the subject of recharging, I just ordered a 4000mah battery that UPS lost and amazon mis-shipped (I'm the proud new owner of a iphone 4 battery case), so now I'm off to best buy to buy another one. What is the optimal amount of amp output so I don't blow the battery out?

  11. Received OTA today, upon restart it did not connect to Sprint until I powered off and on, airplane mode toggle did nothing. Once I restarted, noticed stronger LTE signal in the city (Washington DC) but weaker signal at home (suburbs). Will have to investigate whether this is related to tower work or not, signal check is reporting I'm connecting to towers miles away.

  12. There is B41 on the Strip! Well, it may not be active yet but the panels and ray's have been hung. Took pictures today and upload them tomorrow when I return to SoCal. There is a lot of improvement on B25 but I am sure Sprint will eventually get them done.

Where at? I was at the PH pool and was marveling at how none of the buildings in that part of the strip had any panels at all (to the naked eye at least).
