  1. Don't confuse properly calibrated and accurate with washed out. Most phones, especially Samsungs with AMOLED, are extremely saturated to the point of complete inaccuracy. You may very well be seeing a phone with an accurate panel for the first time. Granted blacks could be blacker, but the Nexus 5 screen is really very good. See this review of the screen.
  2. As to the first part, mine is also exceptionally loud, but the demo model at the Sprint store is as well. I've heard a range of vibration sound levels, so I think it's probably within their tolerances. Second questions: No, cannot use voice and data simultaneously. Voice + WiFi will work.
  3. Read the reviews and be aware of the ToS. They may be doing more with recorded messages than is necessary...
  4. Two things to try: Clear all data and the cache from the Google Voice app, then open it and run through the setup and integration again. If that doesn't work, reactivate you old phone, make sure voicemail is configured properly, then switch back to your new one. I got a very similar message earlier, but a profile update and re-doing Google Voice seemed to take care of it.
  5. You could try something like this app, which should be compatible with Sprint.
  6. Was that in STL? Starting to have trouble keeping track of all the reports of issues. Also, Robert said:
  7. Not sure if the bold part is accurate. The Sprint document says: ... which doesn't seem to indicate incumbent markets will have issues.
  8. Can't tell yet. Will update if I notice anything. Thankfully there aren't a ton of yellows nearby.
  9. In re lilg740's post above, that was me. Device: Nexus 5 Issues: None - Quality LTE signal Location: St. Louis, MO (Central West End area)
  10. Apparently depends on whether STL is an "incumbent market." I've connected to to the towers in the Central West End with my N5 and am getting great speeds, so it's looking OK here...
  11. How loud is your vibration motor? In my current N5, it's noticeably loud. On a previous N5 and another one I've played with, it was far quieter.
  12. PSA: If you got your Nexus from Sprint, don't forget to do the rebate to get $50 back.
  13. Ok, got my original N5 (preordered from Sprint) replaced at a corporate store due to a faulty LCD. I had to be persistent, but they eventually let me exchange. Sprint-purchased N5s come with the SIM card installed. The store I went to said that in order to issue SIMs to Play Store phones, they need to issue a ticket, and they've had problems getting those phones activated. Activation can take a very long time - mine took somewhere in the range of an hour. I'm getting great LTE reception right now. I'm probably not gonna be modifying mine at all, so if you need a Sprint-purchased control to compare against, I may be able to answer some questions.
  14. Yea, plan B: Gonna go to a Sprint corporate store tomorrow and try to do an exchange. Aggravating.
  15. When you turn the screen on after it's been off for a while, does anyone's screen "shimmer" for a half minute before stabilizing and looking normal? Thinking I'm gonna have to RMA this unit. Pre-ordered from Sprint. Think it's better to go through Sprint or Google? Do not want a refurb already...
  16. Ok, both my Sprint pre-orders, placed at the same time, have now shipped... But here's thing - one shipped two-day ground, the other is overnight. So I'll have one tomorrow and the other Friday. Sprint had to re-order both phones due to some problem with their system, so that could account for the difference. But note the weight difference as well... Odd.
  17. Just got my Sprint pre-order shipping notification for one of the two I ordered. They're going out! Pre-ordered 3 minutes after the pre-order site went live, although they screwed up my order twice for the next day, so not sure when the final pre-orders went through. Edit: My UPS tracking says its going out via UPS Ground with no estimated delivery date, so who knows when it will arrive... Edit 2: Although UPS says Ground, the Sprint E-mail says "Overnight: Next Day PM." Hoping that's the case. Still haven't gotten notification on the 2nd of my pre-orders. Edit 3: UPS now says it will arrive by 11/8.
  18. Also haven't gotten notification. When did you place your preorder?
  19. Posted this in the earlier thread - Gizmodo actually seemed to think the battery is pretty good... The Verge thought it was inconsistent. Awesome
