  1. I see something similar with EVDO. I travel through an area where I lose a native Sprint signal and when I get it back it's usually a weak signal, and it almost always is stuck in 1xRTT until long after I've traveled back into strong EVDO coverage or until I cycle airplane mode. I can even cycle airplane mode when the signal is weak and pickup EVDO again. In the event that it does switch back to EVDO, it's a lot of times very slow (sub-100kbps) until I cycle airplane mode. Not sure what the deal is. Running stock rooted LG8. This makes it nearly impossible to keep music streaming going without manual intervention. I've seen this happen on my Evo 3D too.
  2. They finally fixed that ordeal with the GS3. The GPS on the GS3 is about the best of any device I've ever used. Locks very fast and almost always with 10+ sats. My GS2, on the other hand, is a joke.
  3. Small sites? There's over half-a-million people represented in those top 3.
  4. Fastest speedtest I've ever gotten on 3G here at home. Ran 3 or 4 back to back all over 2 meg. 5.2 mi from the tower as the bird flies.
  5. Saw a couple trucks at one of the towers out here in the sticks while on my way to work this morning.
  6. Was in Joliet, Il at Chicagoland Speedway for the race today. Barely sniffed some LTE just outside the track off Turn 1. Didn't see any LTE the rest of the day until I came back through that area walking to the parking lots. My signal must not have been that great, as I could only get it in that one area. Didn't have time to mess around with it too much. Never had LTE inside the track or anywhere besides that spot in turn 1. Here's my best speedtest:
  7. Not sure how I would know the answer to that question. I work in IT, but certainly am not an expert in cellular data networking. Just posting my observations.
  8. Correct, Sprint is not upgrading to EVDO Rev B. The updates on Sprint's site are maintenance upgrades to the legacy network until Network Vision is done. I believe "Data Speed Upgrade" = more backhaul to the tower, or in simple terms - more bandwidth to the internet. Not sure on the a:8 vs a:6 deal, someone can chime in.
  9. At least one person has posted in this thread not long ago about driving by the track and having LTE. According to the NV Sites Complete map, there is an actual tower on 53 and Dollar Tree Ln (not a CoW) right across from the track that is 3G/4G complete. I know Sprint, being the sponsor of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, brings at least one CoW to every track/race that doesn't have existing equipment installed at the track. Do you have an LTE phone to test? I'm guessing not if you still have an Epic 4G?
  10. Traveling to Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet this weekend for the race, so i'll be running some speed tests throughout the day if LTE is still live there. Interested in seeing how it holds up with having thousands of people in one small area.
  11. Lost eHRPD here today also, back to EVDO Rev A, but didn't impact 3G at all, still averaging 1 - 1.5 down, peaking over 2. 800 mhz still rocking.
  12. That was actually posted a couple days ago. Good read nonetheless
  13. Interesting. I've made sure GPS was working and everything. Wonder if you have to move a certain distance? Weird.
  14. Question about sensorly: Do they require a certain number of unique samples/phones in order to actually add results to the map? I've used it several times with 3G at my house and nothing has ever shown up on the map for Sprint 3G.
  15. I didn't check PN offsets, just the Basestation ID (and with CDMA field test app). There is only 1 tower in town. I'm barely in range of another tower (which is also active with 800), but I've never seen it grab onto it from my work. I have to go about a mile out. The chances of it being different towers is about zero.
  16. I think it has partly to do with the fact that the tower it's connecting to is actually a water tower, and not a very tall one, so the antenna's are about right at the top of the tree level.
  17. Here are 2 screenshots, one sitting at my desk at work on 800, and one sitting in the exact same spot on 1900 on the exact same tower. On 1900, about the best I saw while watching the engineering screen was -91, but wasn't quick enough to grab a screenshot. It was hovering mostly around -95 to -99
  18. Figured for premier only or something, not a big deal, I was just joking around.
  19. I'm guessing you're keeping this a secret to us peons, eh? lol
  20. I see a pretty decent improvement overall. As far as in-building is concerned, I've really only looked at bars since i'm at work, but I go from maybe 2 bars on 1900 to 4 on 800 (GS3). Well obviously I am only speaking from my experience *so far*.
  21. 800 has been active again here for the past few days and when it is active, my phone never switches to 1900, it's always 800 no matter what I do.
