Karl Bode at DSLReports even gave Sprint some props:
...
In fact, the latest report suggests that Sprint has leapfrogged T-Mobile and taken the number three spot for overall network performance. Verizon came in first place with a weighted score of 93.5 out of 100, followed by AT&T at 91.3, Sprint at 86.3 and T-Mobile at 83.5....

I use auto pay for my electric bill and nothing else, but I get a significant discount for doing so. It goes to a credit card that is now only used for that.
-
Is it time to buy sprint stock again? Just got a big discount.
Discount *shudder* I'm sure it'll come back. I guess it's time to see how much risk I'm comfortable with and decide whether or not to buy more.

It will, the dev is working on it, but he has stated it is pretty tricky, so it might be a while.
Last update I saw on it was that he had it figured out, but he wasn't going to work on it until Google finalized ART in a major release.

So now Verizon and T-mobile are confirmed to carry it, and Sony is selling it unlocked directly on their website. Still no news for Sprint.

I totally agree with you. Sprint probably has the weakest network at airports across the country. I've lately been to Austin, DFW, Detroit airports and all 3 were 1) low signal levels 2) If triband capable had VERY low speeds of ~1-2Mbps.
I was at DFW last week and had B41 outside the airport on the shuttle to express parking. Inside I had B26.

I don't understand why FreedomPop would have a 9-figure valuation...maybe they make more money than I think they can.

I don't suppose orthogonality is those "spiral waves" that made some tech headlines a couple years ago?

How much more do they need?
Edit: Nevermind, $100
Just donated. Hope it helps.

I think the real question is, "Who roams on first?"

My father and I had 2 very pleasant Sprint CS experiences today.
The first was a problem we were seeing on My Sprint on the website where the site said we had a balance of -$128.25 (because my father paid the bill, then made another payment because he was going out of the country so he wanted to have credit on his account for when they charged us for the next months bill), so we had a credit of $128.25 because he paid more than what the next months bill was going to cost, but there was a message above the balance saying something along the lines of "You have a previous balance on your account, collection services may be initiated if the balance is not payed. Please pay the balance to avoid a service interruption." So we were wondering "how can there be a balance if we have credit on the account?" So we call CS and we were very politely talked to and the woman got her supervisor looking at it and they fixed it all up for us in less than 15 minutes, including hold times.

Funny. I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile just over a year ago for about 30 days before returning to Sprint. I over paid my last bill, apparently, by $2.31. They send me a bill every month for -$2.31.
I just laugh at the money they waste by sending me that.

Battery isn't really affected.
I'm not sure about that. The first-gen LTE phones didn't have the modem baseband integrated with the SOC, and the battery life was atrocious. Remember the HTC Thunderbolt? LTE was a new technology then, but there is a correlation with battery life and modem integration.
-
Snapdragon 805 does not have an built-in modem. It must be paired with an MDM9x35 series modem, which is Cat 6 and supports carrier aggregation.
More on the 9x35: http://www.qualcomm.com/media/blog/2014/01/08/qualcomm-gobi-9x35-makes-first-300-mbps-lte-advanced-ca-data-call
Ah, there we go. That also means the battery life could really suck until they get the baseband integrated with the SOC.
-
Will the Snapdragon 805 support CA though? I'm a bit confused. Looking here: http://www.qualcomm.com/snapdragon/processors/800 the 805 supports Cat. 6 speeds when used with a 4th gen. LTE modem. However, nothing specifically is mentioned about CA, at least that I can see.
The 808 & 810 specifically mention CA (3x20 FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE). As for the OP, I'd see about getting something off eBay or whatever to hold me over for the moment and use my upgrade next year on a Snapdragon 810 device.
You could be right there.

If you're wanting to hold out for carrier aggregation, wait for a phone with the Snapdragon 805.

SIP is not considered WiFi calling. None of the carriers use SIP for WiFi calling. Whatever the reason for that may be, it must be a good one. I presume it's due to the integration of SIP into the core network. Also, SIP doesn't support text messaging, something WiFi calling does support (at least on sprint).
IMS, however, is built into Android. Sprint could leverage that and wouldn't need a WiFi calling app baked into the software.

There are, but I don't remember who makes them. A quick google search should find it for you.

A Bluetooth device must have dual microphones and noise canceling technology to work with an HD call.

Data isn't so much the issue, but it's the extremely late texts and calls that never come through. B41 is excellent in the city and parts of MD you can find it. B26 is there too but needs tuning.
Are you using Google Voice integration?

When I first saw this I thought that Masa had finally initiated his Rapid Fire B plan which basically attaches pico size smoke detectors on sites that have LTE to quell the complaints from members that an't tell if their site has LTE or not.
But then I saw this...

Edit: off topic but I didn't realize that real life trenchcoat ex- Sprint spokesperson Brian Baker is married to Terry Farrell (of Star Trek DS9 fame)
That's a lucky dude right there.

Just to put some math on your 100 gig use, that's 102,400 megabytes per month. That comes to you averaging 2.37 megs of use per minute, 24/7.
Yea. That's not what wireless data was designed for one person to use, nor could the technology support that on a large scale.

How about an HTC one Max?
