HPUE performance on the S8 in downtown Atlanta
Umm yeah, that upload speed looks kinda suspect.

Liking the update as well, lte calling is working much better than I initially thought it would.
-
Reboot your phones.
I still got the error a few times after rebooting, but it's working now.
-
I get an enablement error so I can't even turn it on.

Same here as well.
Edit:
Nevermind, it's working for me now.

I can't say specifically on this device, but I know that the policy has been to allow unlocked devices onto the network for some time.
Yeah, sorry. I know about the policy its just that I didn't think the unlocked s8 was on that list when it came out.
-
This has been the policy for some time...?
Specifically on the unlocked s8 model on release day?
-
Yeah I was wondering cause their website shows support..

Was this the policy on release day or was it something sprint implemented over time?
Edit, with respect to the unlocketds8 specifically
-
Well now I'm back deciding if I should buy it. lol
Yeah, go ahead, LOL.

I believe people have installed the Sprint firmware to enable specific Sprint features like WiFi calling and faster updates.
Well I stand corrected then, interesting.
-
Guess Sprint wants to lose customers. If I bought the Unlocked one I would switch then.

I don't understand, how will they lose customers over this? -
There's nothing wrong with buying the unlocked model then you don't have to worry about getting it unlocked.

Not if you want to activate it on sprint. -
Wow that's news to me. So you can't activate a 955U1 on Sprint as they blacklist it?
That really sucks. I was thinking of buying one today
Again, all hardware are the same on the s8 just like on the iphone and just like the u11. But if you want to specifically use any of them on sprints network you need to get the sprint specific model. The sprint specific model only means that those specific predetermined range of imei's are whitelisted for sprint's network where as any other imei's won't activate. So don't buy the unlocked model then think you will be able to activate it on sprint. -
Yes it does. It works on Sprint. Samsung and bb websites say so.

Yes. Doesn't it have all the supported bands and CA?
Ok, if you are going to activate this on sprints network then you need to buy the sprint specific model. The reason being, is that even though all s8 hardware are the same, sprints system won't accept the imei number from the unlocked model. All non sprint imei's are automatically blacklisted so no way it can be activated.Edit: you can always unlock the sprint model if need be, its not very hard. -
Why is that? Experience you had before?
My question is, at some point will you be activating this on sprints network? -

I agree but he specifically mentioned supporting the same bands as the sprint model so I took that as possibly that at some point it may end up on sprints network and the unlocked model won't work on sprints network. -
Is this the model # for the unlocked version of the Galaxy S8 +?
SM-G955U1
I'm looking at a new phone that has that model number and want to make sure it's the unlocked version and has all the same bands as the Sprint model.
The hardware is the same on all s8 models, if you intend on activating it on sprints network at some point then do yourself a favor and get the sprint specific model. -
You would think that all these carriers going towards a non subsidy model for their monthly plans would to also help with decreasing the price of these phones do to more competition but that's not changing at all. The cost to manufacture these devices seems to have stayed relatively stable for these OEM's while increasing their retail pricing at a much higher rate.

There is news around the internet of a 6gb/128gb version on sale now, or soon. I didn't read too much into it though, and I"m not sure if this will be available directly from Sprint, or if its only available online, which in case it isn't, then I'm unsure whether or not it is fully Sprint compatible.
It won't be available on sprint.

How much of an improvement is this compared to the HTC 10?
In my opinion I think it's worthy of an upgrade if you have the 10. The difference in screen size, addition of ip67, major camera improvements(the 10 did have a good camera too though), very nice build quality, edge sense(which is actually very useful), much better battery life and the headphones out of the box are fantastic. And on top of all that, it's probably the fastest Android device next to the pixel.
