Anyone else have really poor battery life?
I hate having to resort to battery saving mode since the performance decreases by a lot and I don't get push notifications. On another thing this phone tremendously overheats when charging. I've gotten temperatures up to 125 degrees.

Design wise you couldn't get much better than the M8.

So battery still kinda sucks. But last night I was in someone's house on the hill that had poor signal.
Like only minimal b26. I was there 7 hours. Didn't use my phone like more than 15 minutes. And I was at 60 percent batt life. Not bad for 7 hours is poor coverage. Pre lollipop my phone is usually dead there after 7 hours light use or not. Said I had about 11 hours left on remaining batt.
So now this phone has great standby battery. Just don't ever use it for anything lol.
My standby battery is horrible. My school is 15 minutes from me and by that time my phone is 4% less. I have to charge this thing 3 times a day smh

Try Textra for SMS/MMS. It's pretty amazing, I was reluctant to use something different, but Textra works with sending MMS over WiFi (in MMS settings in Textra, pick prefer WiFi).
Agreed on the camera opening and pictures for sure. My pics are coming out far clearer, even in lower light.
I will try Textra. I was using google messenger for a couple of hours but I hated the layout.

Over here stockton sprint is the bomb. All 3 LTE bands cover the whole city and blazing fast lte speeds. Bad part is everyone is getting sprint now so the speeds have reduced a bit since B41 broke lose.
-
Days later still horrible battery life. I can only get 2 hours of screen time before my phone dies .. I prefer the notification panels of kit kat and the default messaging app.
One thing that has improved is the camera. It opens faster, takes pics faster, faster focus, and doesn't close .

I don't like the colors of lollipop. Seems like it's made for a teen age girl. The battery life is awful, just when I thought my S5 couldn't have a worse battery life...
Guess ill be using the M8 as a daily user now until the M9 and S6 are announced

Sprint tower by the mall has gone live with B26. So far 4 towers that I pass around daily are live with B26. If you're not on B26 you'll rapidly connect to B41.
-
Sprint didn't announce this anywhere, but the following towns have Spark:
Modesto, Stockton, Manteca, Turlock, Ceres, and most of Stanislaus County and parts of San Joaquin..
Basically from Stanislaus County, through San Joaquin county, up to connecting to Sacramento.
I discovered this by accident tonight when checking Sprint's coverage map.
Notice, Sprint has never once announced any of these cities as getting Spark. Only Sacramento.
December 17th, 2014, 16 new Sprint markets were turned on according to Sprint, but they didn't name but two of the sites in the press release. Maybe it was turned on then, or when Sacramento was turned on back before but never mentioned it? Anyway, time to test it as I happen to be in Modesto, CA, I will have to try this out. I am getting a Note 4 .. maybe tonight or tomorrow to test it further.
Yeah we been having Band 41 since summer and B26 is now showing up in more places in the 209. The only city that still struggles with service.

On my way to bear Valley and guess what I got? https://www.dropbox.com/s/w0fwq3g08wc400j/2014-12-21%2018.29.51.png?dl=0

Pretty sure someone took pictures of the UOP site and its been decommissioned and replaced by the NV cow.
I try to park next to that tower every time I can. So far I've only spotted NV 1.0 and not NV 2.0
Hopefully by the time the next semester starts I spot some NV 2.0

Hey guess what...
How does it feel down there being in only the second city that Sprint has tied or beaten the other 3 in the entire US?
3rd quarter will see better results. The speed are faster now than they were back in Q2.
It'll only improve since the busiest of the tower of the city is only broadcasting B25. Once that tower goes live with B41 and the tower at UOP as well it'll be superb.
The experience here is really well. I'm spoiled! 3G is fast, Lte is fast, b41 is superb. The call quality has increased dramatically as well. I rarely drop calls like I used to.

Stockton. Hammer & west ln.
Stockton is pretty much covered with B41 in majority places you'll get B25 and then some. A world of difference compared to the 3G speeds we were experiencing not that long ago.

B26 in Livermore!

LTE finally up in manteca but speeds are terrible, currently around 2Mbps both directions. Hopefully they crank up the speeds soon.
Not much hope in Manteca because Sprint has only 1 tower there. The population has clearly outgrown the capacity for the towers.
Until they install NV equipment on the Clearwire towers is when data will be usable. Which is why I avoid going to Manteca at all cost

I thought the emoji issue was with google voice passing it along. Even though you can see it in Google voice app, I always thought something gets lost in the handout. I never get certain emojis.
it's annoying. I hope it's fixed in the next software update.
If only Hangouts was more reliable I'd go back.
-
Anyone else having issues with the default messaging app regarding emojis?
Whenever people send me emojis I never receive them. Only time I find out what emoji people send me is when I open up Google Voice. I would use hangouts but it didn't work for me. On hangouts I wouldn't receive texts, texts didn't send, and multimedia messages were a pain. I stopped using hangouts since the last update when they changed the layout.

Anyone had any luck with slim extended battery.
I just bought a 4350 mah battery on eBay so I hope it's good. I only had it for two days and it's a bit better than the stock battery.
My battery life on the S5 is awful. Tried everything to get Android OS and Android system to waste a minimal of battery but they are always my top 2 battery hoggers. On the stock battery I'd get 7 hours of life on heavy usage.

Once optimized, what speeds should we see?
Usually around 75-77 mbps. That's the fastest i've ever gotten.
-
If anyone in Stockton has a spark capable go out and find more B41 sites gone live. I found two more right now. They're still not optimized as I'm getting 25-35 mbps and on one site I hit 50 mbps.
Pretty sure there are many more sites live with B41!

My first B41 experience in Stockton
Between 8-12dbm better signal than what I'd get on B25 from the same location.

Pretty stoked on replacing my 5s with the 6.
Anything over 5.3" I have to buy a Note because of the stylus. I'd love to play around with the 6 plus but the Note series with the S pen is a game charger.
Probably going to let go of my Galaxy S5 and get the note 4 instead of the Sony Z3 since I doubt it's coming to sprint this year.
-
I'm actually hoping for that one, too. The Compact would be nice but I'm thinking I'd rather have a 5.2" screen.
The only thing I don't like is the bezels

Undecided if to go for 64 gb or 128 gb model.
Ehh probably 128 gb. I'll sell my iPod touch! With 4K video storage I'll be needing the storage.
