  1. I said they "can", not will. Some areas take longer than others. And if you are un satisfied, why not switch providers? Is that not an option or do you just prefer to stick it out.

That's why some of us have other lines on other carriers. The amount of drop calls I get on my Sprint S5 everyday compared to my Nexus 5 on t mobile is pretty sad. Sometimes I can be on a fully upgraded area and my texts won't send or I won't receive then. It's not just something new that has happened since I got the S5. It has happened with couple of single bands lte phones too. As well with other people that I know that have Sprint.

Ecsfb issues in south San Jose were a nightmare. I wouldn't be surprised with the low market share Sprint has in the area. Due to the recent cluster , things have gotten a lot better.

On the other hand sprint's lte speeds are good enough with me. I wish I had 5-7 Mbps connection instead of 0.05-0.20 Mbps speeds...

Ps: people on this site should stop telling users to switch carriers. People are smart enough when to switch. A little rant shouldn't lead to automatically replying to switch carriers.

  2. Yeah I found a lot of EVDO service in and around LA using Signal Check, which is something I haven't seen since 2012 in Chicago.  All our 3G is now eHRPD since all our sites are 3G/4G/800 complete, so the existence of EVDO implied legacy sites are still quite abundant in the LA Market.  We all know legacy sites equate to the stereotypical bad Sprint service with dial up like speeds.

Los Angeles is nothing compared to how bad it is in San Francisco, Stockton, and Sacramento. Especially San Francisco.

San Jose is now removed from my list of horrible tri band service due to the last acceptance. Before you'd have to put it on 3G only mode to even get a signal.

I have high hopes the California cities behind schedule will light up soon!

  3. Last night I was in a heavily covered B41 area in the Bay Area and my S5 would pick up B41 right away no problem.

My friend's M8 would still be on B25 until she toggled airplane mode like two times to stay on B41. Once on B41 her phone stuck with B41 for hours. Maybe an update can fix that in the very near future.

  4. Really like how the S5 tries to pick up B41 right away without doing anything to it.

But it'll stay on a fringe B41 signal even though there's a much stronger B25 signal available. Only thing that bothers me is that it switches from B25 to B41 and vice-versa so often. Probably a network issue in the area.

  5. In the SF & South Bay markets the LTE when I went was pretty good inside the park on a crowded day on B25. When I went to Six Flags Magic Kingdom and Six Flags Great America it was not a problem.

Uploaded a ton of Instagram, FB, Twitter, and Vine videos/pics without a problem.

  6. That's great! Did you do anything special or did it happen on it's own?

Happened by itself surprisingly. Then I lost it about 3 blocks later.

Along the piers I also caught more B41 but I put my phone on LTE only mode in the piers.

  7. People are too addicted with technology. When I go on trips I always put my phone down and enjoy talking to the people next to me. The only time I use my phone is when I want to show them a funny video or reply someone back that's urgent.

Put the devices down. Talk to people around you, have a long conversation, plug in a music player, take road trip pics with a camera, print the pictures, make an album, etc. If you have a kid, give them a book to read or something.

It bugs me when I see people being on their phones instead of working. I talk to managers all the time about that. Instead of attending a customer they will be "secretly" on their phone. Or in an office job they will mess up a lot.

I don't have netflix installed on any of my phone. It's horrible watching anything on a smart phone. I'd rather wait and watch it on a big tv.

  8. I was just discussing this a little bit in another forum.  It's crazy how everyone else says this phone is the best RF performer when for me it's been the worst RF performer of any phone I've ever owned.  For instance, other triband devices get LTE here at my house.  My single band GS4 did as well.  So triband and single band LTE phones on Sprint get 4G service at my house but not any Nexus 5s.  This seems to be a product issue inherent to all Nexus 5 devices.  Even at work this phone jumps off and on 4g all day where there is a Sprint 4g live tower less than 1000 feet away.  My GS4 would have a strong LTE signal there and so does everyone else on Sprint with whom I work.  It's absurd.

At the store they were confused, as always and so I went home and called Asurion and ordered a new N5.  Which I got the next day.  Which has all of the exact same issues.  I swear I am going to explode from frustration!

But like I said in the other post...the only 3G only tower inside of I-285 is the one right across from my house on the Northside Drive side of the Bobby Jones Golf Course.  It is 3G NV upgraded but no LTE yet.   So my single band GS4 would pick up LTE from more distant towers but the speeds were decent.  This phone won't even pick up LTE from those more distant towers so I really feel this phone has worse RF performance than the GS4.  At least my experience would seem to suggest that it is thus.

Get yourself a HTC M8 or GS5 on ebay.

Had similar issues on my N5 but I switched it to a t mobile line since last year because I need LTE where I live.
