  1. Just found the same deal at TMI Wireless: http://www.cellstores.com/eCommerce/SpecialOffer.aspx?cid=18070_510cd9e2d23944d1b6b7bd7994bacc96

Ironically the site looks identical to Wirefly, and they even use the same "whereismyorder.com".  Hm...interesting.

I decided to order on the phone.  The rep had to double check and could not believe it was being offered for free.  I agreed!  Guess I won't get too excited yet, though...I'm still on the phone as we speak.

Heh. You're making me consider buying a second one. I don't want to ruin it for other people though.

  2. Maybe, but it's unlikely. Normally supporting Bands 7+38 automatically makes it impossible to support Band 41 (they are currently mutually exclusive). And Apple will definitely support those bands before Band 41, because they're being used EVERYWHERE except Japan and the US. Even Canada uses Band 7 right now, with Band 38 being auctioned sometime next year.

People said for the longest time that Verizon would never get the iPhone because they didn't use GSM, and here we are. But without the chipset support, yeah, there'll probably only be support for two out of the three bands.

  3. If you want the month to month, I believe you have to activate through the device itself.

The clearwire hotspot activates the same way.

Turn on hotspot, connect to it with a PC via wifi, open a browser, it should do a captive redirect to the activation page.

I am just assuming it works like this.

Otherwise, you would need to activate it through sprint with the type of plan you want.

That's great news if this one ends up working the same way.

  4. How do you report a problem?  Looked all over the Sprint website and can't find a way.

I have 4G.  I'm near a tower that has 2 speed upgrade.  Data works fine (although I'm not sure how fast it is, the 4G symbol is on).   The problem is my Galaxy S3 can't make or receive phone calls.  Works fine in other parts of the city.

Might try calling Sprint from another phone. If you have no other phone, you can use Google Talk's VoIP functionality in a pinch.

  5. Considering that Wirefly is literally giving them away. Lol.

Maybe this MiFi 500 loophole is actually not a loophole? I doubt they would allow it if it weren't planned.

Sent from my Sprint iPhone 5, not the old one (using Tapatalk 2).

My guess is that Sprint's 100% subsidizing them and that we're going to end up with a new two year agreement by activating.  ;)

  6. Mine was cancelled about an hour ago and I ordered at like 4ish

Ah, it'll probably be cancelled tomorrow then since their office is probably closed now.

You don't think they will be able to charge the full price on our credit cards ?

Every place I've ever ordered from gave me the option to cancel the order if the price (excluding shipping) changed. Failing that, there's always sending it back for a refund.

  7. Lucky duck.  That link that was posted didn't work. It sends me to a Galaxy S3 product page for Verizon wireless.

Change carrier, choose "replacement device" and then change phone to the MiFi 500. I was able to put in an order for the free MiFi just now. (Whether it'll get cancelled though is another question.)

  8. Even if you pay full price or byod a new line will make a new contract on Sprint.

Which is unfortunate. It's partly why I have a prepaid Verizon MiFi--because I don't use it often enough to justify paying monthly for 2+ years, but I do need it occasionally on trips and such. The new Sprint unlimited plans might make an extra $10 for hotspot access on my phone doable though.
