BTW I finally got my answer back from T-Mobile Corporate:

Thank you for your email. We have submitted your feedback to the department that oversees the policy regarding the amount available to finance. Regrettably, the Equipment Credit Limit cannot be increased outside the approved specific scenarios from any department. I regret any confusion I may have caused on how we send up feedback.

So it looks Iike I'm stuck with a $1,500 Credit Limit as a 20+ Year Customer with 7 phone lines/2 watch lines until their 6 months re-review sometime in December. We have three iPhone 14 Pro lines we want to upgrade to 15 Pro via trade-in.

    Uncarrier my @$$.

Get an Apple Credit Card and buy your phones from Apple. 24 mos no interest. Unlocked phones. Reasonable trade-ins.
PS. 3% off using the Apple Credit Card with ApplePay or Card Number.

  2. This was announced a while ago but it sounds like it might really be moving forward. First thing that comes to my mind is it probably won't work indoors. Does the the FCC have to sign off on this kind of thing? Have they? I have no inside info but my guess is this will probably be limited to subscribers of T-Mo's top tier plan(s)?

If I’m not mistaken, I think I was able to add the cellular plan to the watch directly in the Watch App on Sprint without going through a s—-show like this.

It’s truly hard to believe how bad this was.

You are correct. Adding and removing lines was done totally on the watch with SPRINT. AND charges were prorated. If you only needed Watch cellular for a short time you’d only pay for the time you used.

With T-Mobile, watch lines are considered a special DIGITs line. I do not claim to understand DIGIT lines other than Watches are a special case and the only way to remove them are through support and all the issues that involves.

“IIRC, the process was better under Sprint. Heck, I’d rather deal with AI.”

Sprint had the Apple Watch add/delete totally automated. If you ever want to delete that watch line it will be a nightmare as well. Maybe things have improved but shortly after the merger I moved to TMo  Adding an Apple Watch was done totally on the watch  To delete the line required getting support involved to do it.

Received a text stating I've been 'un-enrolled from your promotional service T-Mobile discount as the account no longer meets promotion eligibility criteria'.

I converted from Sprint to T-Mobile immediately after the merger. I received a similar message. It was I was loosing the Sprint discount I was receiving based on where I was working. Funny thing was I was already retired for 3 years but Sprint was still giving me the discount. T-Mobile wasn’t so generous. J

Unless T-Mobile fixes this, we'll consider doing our iPhone upgrades through Apple's iPhone Upgrade Program instead: https://www.apple.com/shop/iphone/iphone-upgrade-program

I was on the Apple IUP for 3 yrs. It worked as advertised but they did a HARD credit pull each year when I upgraded.
So now I got an Apple Credit Card which lets you finance a device over 24 month with no interest as long as you do a carrier activation. If you don do an activation it works like any other credit card. Since I do an upgrade every year I just trade in my 1 yr old iPhone to Apple and they give me about 50% every year when I purchase the next phone. According to my math which could be flawed I am paying for half a phone every year which is what I was doing on the Apple IUP but this way there is no credit score hit. Buying direct from Apple has a plus of the phones are unlocked (unless you finance through ATT) so you are free to switch carriers any time.

Thanks. So basically it depends on the graciousness of T-Mobile for what the deals will be. Do I need to have 24 months of payments to get these deals or can I just pay off the device(s) early to be eligible?

Yes. Deals vary. As I understand it free phones are really set up as an installment plan and as long as the line is active T-Mobile makes the payments via bill credits. If you leave or cancel the line then you make the remaining payments over time or all at once. Your choice. Full disclosure I’ve never done one.

What’s an example of an existing customer getting a new customer deal? I don’t really understand what that means.

    Stuff like this:

Add a new line or trade in a qualifying phone on a Go5G Plus plan for a free Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5—the strongest Flip yet. Open it up and turn heads.

Add a new line or trade in a qualifying phone on a Go5G Plus plan for up to $1000 off the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5. Double the screen. Double the experience.

Usually for new customers but if you're on Go5G Plus as an existing customer you can take advantage of it.
In these examples you need a "qualifying" trade-in. Whatever that is.

My iPhone 14 Pro on iOS 16.6 has a toggle switch that was auto-enabled for "5G Standalone" when I looked under Settings --> Cellular --> Cellular Data Options --> Voice & Data

It says: 5G Standalone uses 5G for all cellular activity, including cellular network connections.

I have things set to "5G Auto" and "Allow More Data on 5G".

I'm taking that Sprint MAX plan for all I can now...

About a month ago my voice service was exemplary using your settings. Then I tried 5G Standalone just for grins and 30% of my voice calls dropped after 5 minutes. Coincidence? I switched back and no more dropped calls. Iphone 14 Pro Max. iOS 16.6

The Carriers must have used some leverage on Apple to get them to stop selling no-SIM/eSIM free phones. I wonder what was involved with that.

It's just sad to see how T-Mobile is degenerating into the "Carrier" many of us feared after the merger, and there's really nowhere else to go.

Only if you want to use an Apple Credit Card AND take advantage of 24 months @ 0%. Some folks are unhappy since they only applied for the Apple Card for the 24 payments at no interest.
Rereading my post I can see how it could be confusing.
