  1. Man the Nexus RF performance is ridiculously good!!! I just rode my elevator up and down (while holding it in a death-grip) and could not for the life of me get the PCS signal to go below -95dBm (whereas my HTC One would be in the 100's without the death-grip)... ill keep trying and get back to you guys.

Looking forward to B26 stability like this! Would do wonders in pre-war buildings in NYC.

At my work there is a Sprint accepted PCS only tower in the shopping center across the street. Using my Ele Evo in the elevators there's no difference in call performance. Using my work provided BB on Verizon the calls always drop.

  2. I'm not sure how you would tell that you are using HD Voice other than what the call sounds like. Here in Fort Worth I've made numerous calls on 1xRTT that have a significant difference in quality than my calls a few months ago. It has to be HD Voice. Details below:

    Channel: 450

    Band Class: 1

    SID: 4120

    NID:311

    Base ID: 23962

    State: Trf Conv

    UE, 1xADV Supported: 1

If you are unsure whether you are on HD Voice or not, you probably are not. It is a very clear difference in call quality. If anyone has used VIber VoIP (wifi) calls it the voice quality sounds similar to that, as both are wideband (HD).

  3. Seems like the only way to enable USB debugging is via Sync Manager, which is kind of annoying.

USB Debugging is in the hidden developer menu. Settings -> About -> Software information -> More -> Click Build Number 5 times. This will give you the Developer Options menu above Activate this device in the Settings.

  4. I uninstalled it on my 8.1 machine, but it reinstalled it during the attempt. On the Win7 machine, it did not have it.

After playing with the Evo next to my One, I have to say, this was too late, but much needed. I can't believe how much snappier the phone feels overall. Had they dropped this back shortly after 4.3 was released, I don't know if I would have bothered to pick up a One (and I really like mine!).

It feels like a new phone again. I cannot express how much i love the quick settings menu on the notification bar. Makes changing settings while in app possible without exiting the app. In addition the multi tasking has improved in 4.3. When i switch to a previously opened app it does not need to re-load.

Just installed. I did the HTC Backup from the settings menu. It's coming in clutch. It just uses your Dropbox for cloud backup.

  6. Yes, thats expected. you lose all internally saved things when doing the RUU update to this due to the re-partitioning...

i did the htc sync manager backup before running the RUU and a restore after. Messages, phone history, and contacts seemed to restore well, in addition to my background. Overall my phone has been running much better with 4.3. Sense has only crashed once since the update whereas before the update it would crash multiple times each day.

  7. Hm, maybe.  Although 4.1 didn't do that.

If you press the home button from a non default home screen, it will take you to the default screen. This happened even in 4.1. Therefore, from within an app opened from a non default home screen, pressing the home button twice will take you to the default home screen. I would not call this a bug, instead increased functionality.

In addition anyone having an issue with 1x connecting to data. Signal Check will show a 1x connection only, but no data, whereas in the same location as before the 4.3 update, 1x would connect to data no problem.

  8. It's an RUU at 826Mb. I installed it. Sense 5.0 is a nice overlay over 4.3. Very much like the HTC One pre kit kat as expected. So far so good. New radio to test though.

  9. You need to open the App, enter your pin and wait for it to show being connected to a card, then just tap.  If your data signal is low or unusable, the service is not usable or will struggle and say ask the cashier or something to that effect.

Do you have your cards setup?

Yes cards are setup, but Tap and Pay stills says not available.

  10. Considering people have still not received the update could very well be indicative of more than normal error reports with ZVA. In that case they would fix the problems and then send out an updated version of the update.

  11. As I have stated previously, you may initially think that you are "losing" your upgrade at the end of your contract.  But that is not accurate.  A subsidized upgrade is not earned from the past -- it is paid down over time in the future.  So, any subsidized upgrade strikes the beginning of a new contract.  But Sprint is doing away with contracts, hence doing away with subsidies.

    AJ

And I think i remember reading that those who wanted to switch over from a 2 yr contract with device subsidy would have to pay $15 per month until their contract would have ended if they switch to Framily. This only further backs your point.

  12. Ok maybe I should've just said power it off for a few minutes not a battery pull. Same thing almost. You don't need to be sure as I know what devices i have on my account and in what I spend my cash on. Maybe this G2 is defective or the radio modem sucks but I know for a fact the LTE is not performing as well as my other devices. Speed test app shows it as so does Hulu (which does not play at all) and YouTube which skips constantly. Also out of both the links I posted one was about that csfb or whatever its called issue, the other one the user is specifically talking about his speeds as well and no one had an answer. Also another thing I noticed is standing in one spot I can get 1 bar of LTE facing one way and as soon as I start turning another direction it'll jump to 4 in the same spot so maybe it is a radio issue.. 10yrs with Sprint I think I should know when one of my phones is under performing with all the trouble shooting I've done throughout my years with them.

Are you certain it is not just an isolated sector? I have gotten great speeds in the 20-30 DL range and then driven 40 minutes south with the same or better LTE signal strength, signalcheck confirmed, and gotten around 1-2 DL. That is not the phone, surely the network. There is another site nearby my work that drops down to 1-2 DL when the signal strength is worse than -95 on signalcheck for an HTC One, S3, Note 2, and my Evo.

  13. So the 3g on my evo will not work when connected to a tower that is EV-DO, airave or if I have the phone set to cdma only. 3G only works if its under eHRPD. My phone is rooted and running meanbean with the latest radios, I have reset my data profile countless times with no avail.

Just a shot in the dark but try reprovisioning the device. ##72786# from the dialer.

  14. I have been getting HD Voice with a friend here in the bay who owns a G2 and it sounds amazing. FYI it doesn't always connect the first call. I will be connected for a few seconds and the call will go silentt w/o HD. Then I hang up and call back and HD will be engaged. Not sure if this is just a glitch between phones or the network here in the bay. Only an observation at this point.

  15. I've been contemplating on change mine. I'm a heavy user and have only 1 bar in my job which has put a lot of stress on it. Off the charger at 7:30 and currently 10:06 and it sits at 79% running meanbean

I decided that I'm going to hold off on this batch of phones and after watching a couple tear down videos and I saw how simple it is I decided to pull the trigger. Only adhesive that I found is on the lower back cover and on the back of the battery. Neither seemed to be an issue with re-assembly. Else wise a pry tool, torx screwdriver, and tweezers got the job done.
