BingeOn 480p vs wifi 1080p
Device: iPhone 6S Plus. T-Mobile LTE averages 60Mbps at my house. FiOS wifi averages 55Mbps.

Pretty significant bandwidth savings.

see not everyone loves TMO and isn't afraid to say when it stinks...
<note PA typically loves TMO>
New hashtag... #recarrier

I have bingeing activated on my account already. It's listed under services. And I can confirm Netflix limited to 480p resolution at 1750kbps (1080p on wifi runs 5800kbps). Quality looks great on iPhone 6s Plus.
My speeds at home have not changed at all either...still over 60Mbps.
-
I got it activated on my account too.
1750kbps 480p on Netflix. Turn wifi on and it jumps to 1080p at 5800kbps. So quite a bandwidth savings. Quality looks good on my iPhone 6s Plus. I rarely watch mobile video, but I'll probably keep it on.

So, if I don't get back on Sprint, which has got to be by next week, as I don't trust T-Mobile at all, I'll have to go to a different carrier. I'm not seeing any place in my account settings for being able to turn off "binge on", despite following T-Mobile's instructions in how to do so, where to find the setting switch, etc. It simply isn't there. Unlike Sprint's nice and helpful customer support, I don't want to call T-Mobile and have one of Legere's minions ridicule me for wanting to turn their crap 480p tech off.
It's not live until Nov 19th on legacy plans. The new plans get it starting Nov 15th. You won't see the option until its live.

Also, excuse my ignorance, but if for any of the existing cellular providers, what kind of tower equipment upgrades would be required to support 600 MHZ?
New panels on each tower required for 600Mhz. A lot of work to deploy.
-
Compressed likely, similarly to how Sprint does it's images I bet.
Unless it's some new codec that is bandwidth-friendly.
Yeah, good point. He said you can turn it off if you want.

Legere claims that it's optimized video...uses less bandwidth. LTE Broadcast?

"Optimized Stream!"
I feel like I'm watching an Apple keynote...lol
Edit: And its unlimited video...BingeOn

Long live WiMax....lol
I'm not surprised by the injunction to be honest. Given how the case has been progressing.

Western Maryland has LTE now!

You are half right, post paid, you pay after the month you received service.
That's not how Sprint's billing works. Your first Sprint bill is much higher for a reason, they are billing pro-rated portions of current month, and a full month for the next.
T-Mobile handles it in an even weirder way. When you sign up for post paid service on T-Mobile, you bill cycles in 3 days after you activate a line. So you pay for 3 days of service, then a full month of service.

I'm so fed up with AT&T, but have NO choice in the matter. It's them, or nothing. $57.00/mo x 2...second DSL line never goes over 75gb/mo.
Holy crap. I pay $29.99 (taxes included) for Verizon FiOS....50/50Mbps. I have that rate locked for 24 months. I guess I could see the reason to be concerns about wide open LTE service. For me, I'd be glad to fill in a coverage gap...but my house has 5 bars of T-Mobile LTE, so no reason for me to get one.

I left my Airave open at my parents house. Would consistently speed test 3G at 2Mbps. I don't see how LTE would invite "data abuse" for the most part. I guess if your neighbor was one of those prick 1TB a month users...lol.

I fail to see the purpose of this device, since you're using it to connect to LTE, instead of your own home internet. By definition you would need to have adequate home internet speeds and service in order to use this femtocell, so why bother with it?
BYOD devices, or devices without wifi calling. Other than that, the only target market I can see is a small business.

Small local/regional carriers simply do not have the economic scLle to grow into national carriers with the fiscal power to bid and gain meaningful spectrum for the kind of growth they need to survive long-term, which they need in order to become national carriers with very minimal or non-existant roaming, as the need for national in-network coverage is very important.
Do they actually need to become a national carrier to be a viable and profitable business? I'm not convinced they want to or need to become a national carrier to compete.

Marcelo is in Cuba for business (per his Twitter account).
Doesn't Sprint already have roaming in Cuba?

Hard capping it at 300 MBs sure as hell helped.
Sent from my Nexus 5X
True story. But I don't understand how you can use so much data roaming anyways. When my Sprint phone says "Extended 1x"...I have never had a successful outgoing call. Texts will go through...just take forever. It is more comforting to have roaming service instead of "No Service".

This is the better question: How does the T-Mobile CFO know that Sprint roaming costs on VZW run $500 million/yr? Roaming costs on one other specific operator are not public information. Should I take his word for it? I mean, T-Mobile executives never distort nor exaggerate anything, right?
AJ
He also said it topped $1B at one point. So it has drastically improved!

No that's not 2.07%, that's 2.07x. For every 100 customers that go from T-Mobile to Sprint, 207 customers go from Sprint to T-Mobile.
Doh...yes, not sure why I put %...lol
-
CFO: "We have never had in-market roaming, so we don't have those costs like Sprint, which spent over over $500M last year to Verizon alone. Those cost savings are used in other areas."
-
Legere: "The 300M pops does NOT include roaming. That is strictly 100% native T-Mobile coverage"
