I've been experiencing the same thing on my G2 but it isn't only I-55 area.. Where you lose all bars and get the red x. I'm not sure if it is a tri-band issue, G2 issue or tower issues. I would definitely like to know. I've forced LTE mode only and still don't get anything when the phone does this.
Anyone know what is going on with the towers coming up 55 in south city? No signal of any kind from around bates to AB where 3G kicks in. Can't get back to 4G till north city without going to airplane mode. This started last week on my G2.
Try going to 3G only and see what happens. I would put money on it being an eCSFB issue.

They have a GPS on them, something else relays the location back, generally through cell signals or through other means of communication. GPS alone doesn't do anything except for the person holding it.
Ya, just read that myself. Consider me an idiot.

I thought onstar worked through cellular connections?
Still I know that GPS locators exist. My employer wanted me to check on them for his trucks.
-
And I know that it is possible to install GPS locators on vehicles. Why is it such a stretch to put them on aircraft.

A "GPS transmitter" is on a satellite. As I stated previously, GPS is a one way transmission. If you think that it is a two way transmission, you are sorely mistaken. So, you can track a "GPS signal" device as easily as you can track my TV or transistor radio -- they are all just receivers of broadcast signals.

Guess i skipped over that post. My bad. So how does lojack work? Onstar the same thing. They can track a vehicle and even shut it down if need be. How do they do that?
-
I still don't understand why they wouldn't be able to track a GPS signal on a cellular device. Also I don't understand why a simple GPS transmitter is not installed on these planes.
Also if they were flying around 5000 feet over land to avoid radar as some have suggested then they could have possibly connected to a cell site somewhere. We haven't heard about the authorities checking cell phone records or anything.

I just want to remind everyone that if they are in any of the areas in these maps where we need a GCI or PCI to please grab those. I hope to get both types of identifiers in the system so when B26 starts rolling around we have the correct information to confirm sites as it will be much more difficult than just driving to the site and unless something changes the GCI of B25 does not match up with GCI's from B26 and no definite pattern can be recognized. However the PCI(3-digit style) does so we will NEED those in order to confirm B26 sites. At this point we have a lot less confirmed PCI than GCI.

I also saw people working on Harvester/McClay in St. Charles site the last few mornings hanging panels. Im guess that may be Clear work but not 100% sure. Someone may have posted in the part of the forum im too poor to be in.
Nope, haven't had a post in there for a while.

True North is on site (old Olive St. rd & Lindbergh), working on a Clear flagpole. Driving by, I saw them working in the cabinets.
I'm in a meeting until 12:30, so I'll try to circle back and chat up the workers.
I think its more likely that its NV work.

By the way folks this is where we were exactly 1 year ago today. Also to put it into perspective, these were about a week before i made my first post.
I can't even begin to imagine how difficult it would be to start work in the St. Louis metro area. The city and county are divorced entities, and the county is made up of tons of smaller municipalities. Securing permits alone for work in all of the areas must be a full-time job, independent of any construction.
At any rate, my contract is up in October, so I'm hoping to have a shiny new iPhone with LTE to play with in the St. Louis area.Is there a way to tell which tower we are connected to?
The only reliable way is to look in the LTE engineering screen at the cell ids, and then the only way to know is to do some foot work.
There is no reliable app, or any info that will tell you exactly which site you are connected to without doing some leg work.Or you caught a tower that has had a maintenance update recently. 3G upgrades typically come online in clusters, so it's not likely there are enough towers complete to have NV 3G online yet. We haven't had any reports of tower work yet in STL, so I'm guessing you just happened to find a tower that has a good backhaul connection on it's legacy 3G.
Once we actually start seeing movement in STL, there will be a lot more posts. At the moment, we don't have much more to talk about other than work should be starting in the next month or so.

Exactly!
Sorry I am not a fanboy and can't hold your hands and skip down the hall singing Kumbaya!
Sprint should have never sold LTE phones in a market that can't support them. When I got mine in August I was told by the CSR that it would work perfectly and it was 100% better than the 4G (That worked perfectly for me!) When it didn't, I took it back to return it and they refused. So sue me for having a bitter taste in my mouth.
You had 14 days to return or exchange it and you also still had the WiMax phone you could reactivate. Would you rather Sprint have stuck with WiMax? I think Sprint's Network Vision is pretty darn ambitious.

No, because it's listed as retail pricing for all the phones, and easy pay is just retail price/24. So Framily is just lump sum pricing with retail cost of phone. The N5 from Google is listed as retail pricing added on if you put it on My Way plans or Framily.
Gotcha.
-
Is Sprint selling the N5 for $350 retail now? I thought it was $450.
Edit: I see now but if you can't finance a N5 Google play purchase through easy pay then shouldnt those fields say N/A?
