Samsung Galaxy Note 4 User Thread

Okay needing help understanding all this "LTE Plus" stuff. Is our Note 4 "LTE Plus" enabled? If so, then should we be seeing a difference in speed or coverage or both?

No, our Note 4 does not support carrier aggregation, aka LTE Plus.

It might just be the network doing this but..  Does anyone think the Note 4 is holding on to B41 a little longer than before?  Maybe a little firmware tweak in the last update?

I do get jealous of Note 5 users bragging about real-life RF performance.

I hope they update it soon, the unlock/ random lock bug irritates the crap out of me. Plus I'm hoping for the death of the lte spinner.

Is this a known bug? I'm having the same problem.. Phone by itself will turn screen on.

Well what mime dose is weird. I'll click he home button to unlock it, swipe finger. Then start to do something (ie open text and typing or youtube) and the phone will randomly just show my wallpaper and nothing else (no notification bar nothing just like a picture) then freeze up for a few seconds and go to the lock screen. Some days it will not do it and others it dose it more often. It gets irratsting after a while.

Have the same problem on mine. Sometimes my fingerprint sensor will throw an error message saying it failed and have me enter my backup password

Experiencing some frustration with the fast charging option. I attach the charger, the notification pops up saying "Fast Charger Connected"... but in Power Savings settings it says Charging USBicon1.png with the fast charging box checked but showing grey.

Used the same charger and cord in the same outlet earlier in the day and the fast charger works without problem. Been tracking this issue for two days and cannot figure out the variables creating the problem.

Anyone else suffering the same problem?
Any insights that might lead to a solution?

Battery life seems worse with last update. Granted I've had the phone for 16 months and I'm a fairly heavy phone user but nevertheless. I've even stripped away a few apps I rarely use and tried tweaking some power saving things but it seems to drain faster. I'm wondering if I should just replace the battery because it got old already or was it really the last update that had an impact.?

You should probably just replace the battery. Anker has always done me well for whatever devices I used that have removable batteries.

Yeah I thought so. The Anker battery will be on my next Amazon order. I don't plan on getting a new phone for 9-10 months so I might as well replace it.

A new battery should help, but if you haven't done a factory reset since the 5.1 update, do it. My battery drained like crazy until I did a factory reset. I am getting easily twice the battery life since the reset a few months ago.

I have, but it's pretty limited where it can be used right now. You can delete a card anytime you want.

    • T-Mobile has saved its 28Mhz mmWave licenses by using the point to point method to do environment monitoring inside its cabinets. The attachment below shows the antennas used: https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/ApplicationSearch/applAdmin.jsp;JSESSIONID_APPSEARCH=LxvbnJuvusmIklPhKy6gVK7f9uwylrZ8LiNf3BqIKlDp3_5GxoBr!300973589!225089709?applID=14787154#   Here are the sites for Franklin county OH: https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsEntry/attachments/attachmentViewRD.jsp?applType=search&fileKey=66518254&attachmentKey=21989782&attachmentInd=applAttach
    • Yep, there is a label on the side of the box but it doesn't provide any useful info that the city doesn't already provide (Crown Castle Solutions is the franchisee). You can see my graphical interpretation of the city's dataset here.

    • Totally agree.  In my county and surrounding counties, TM did not place n-41 on every site.  When I look at the sites in question, I probably would have not placed it there either.  I can find just a few with n-71 only and in most of those cases if you live there and know the probable usage of the residents, you would not do a full upgrade on those sites.  One site in particular is set up to force feed n-71 through a long tunnel on the Turnpike.  No stopping allowed in the tunnel. No stores, movie theaters, bathrooms, so n41 would be a waste.    n25 is not really needed either, so it is not there.  The tunnel is going through & under a mountain with more black bears than people.  TM was smart.  Get good coverage in the tunnel but do not waste many many thousands of dollars with extra unused spectrum. I also see sites with only n71 & n25.  Again this makes sense to me.  Depending on what county we are talking about, they moved much of their b25 from LTE to nr.  Some counties have more n25 than a neighboring county, but luckily, it is plenty everywhere.   When you are in a very rural area, n41 can run up the bills and then be barely used.  I am NOT finding sites that should have had n41 but TM failed to provide it.  They may have to come back later in a few years and upgrade the site to n41.  However, we just may eventually see the last little piece on Band 25 leave LTE and move to n25. I am not sure if the satellite to phone service is using band 25 G block as LTE or nr. We also can possibly have at least some AWS move from LTE to nr at some point.  Yes, everybody wants n41. it is not justified in some cases.  When I travel, I desire some decent service along the entire route but it does not have to be 1 or 2 gig download.   If I can get 50/5 on a speedtest with data that will flow and not stutter, I am very happy. Yes, they will swap out the USC gear.  TM needs to match their existing network. The USCC equipment did the job for years, but it is time to retire it.
