MetroPCS launches Rich Communications Services standard on LTE

I thought this was interesting' date=' does anyone know if Sprint has any intention of implementing the RCS standard on their LTE network as well?

I must be getting old. I read the article and I don't get it. What does it do? It sounds like it is redundant and not innovative at all. Am I missing something?

I read the article and even watched the Youtube video with that horrible song and I must agree with Robert. I didn't see anything particularly innovative and groundbreaking there. Perhaps it'll be a big deal to MetroPCS customers though since they largely skipped over EVDO causing the majority of their network to be stuck on 1x until they started deploying LTE.
