  1. When we made the switch from AT&T I joked that Sprint would launch LTE here before AT&T got 3g (still edge). I'm laughing my tail off, as the AT&T upgrade completion date hot pushed back again, to July. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  2. I don't think it's official, but they're definitely lighting up. I live in Point, and this is the tower by my house, and it was the first time I've seen it. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  3. Check the signal bar up top! Ooohh yeah! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  4. LTE is hot in Stevens Point! Mapping Sensorly as we go. Don't worry, wife is driving. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  5. I listen to Pandora all the time around Point and Waisau, and had it going all over Green Bay the other day, clear up to Marinette. Worked fine. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  6. I need to map Point next. I think some of the equipment went to those sites. No joke, ehrpd pulls 2.5mps on cty R in Point. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  7. I was dropping rolls of fiber for several places, and we delivered some crates here and there. I drive for an LTL carrier, so unless its hazmat or open, most of the time I have no clue what's in the box. I live in Point, but my route covers Point, Rapids, Wausau, Marshfield, Waupaca and Weyauwega. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  8. That's a good question. I know they're pulling a lot of fiber up here right now. I've delivered rolls for a few of the contractors. Not sure who they were pulling for but there aren't many upgrading right now. ATT is supposedly pulling for 3g in point, but these guys were pulling Wausau. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  9. Ive been seeing work going on at a couple sites, looks promising. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  10. Im guessing part of the work to be completed is backhaul. They were ramping up for some massive fiber pulls, and all I can get from recieving guys is its for cell towers. No specific carriers were mentioned. I can't badger the guys too much. They get enough from local citizens. Either way it seems Sprint will finish LTE before AT&T even rolls out 3g outside Wausau. 11. Don't be. They aren't any different. My favorite quote from corporate management during a meeting one day was "what do we care what the customer wants? Where are they going to go? We're they only option." This was true in nearly all markets for a long time. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  12. So are they just waiting for back haul to light up? I'm in Wausau all the time and haven't seen it on my Evo or Gnex. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  13. Ah, Century link. I worked there for several years back when they were Centurytel. The stories I could tell you... Short answer, if they're involved, be prepared to wait a loooooong time. As for At&t, we're averaging 6kbps here. Yes, I said kbps. I didn't mistype. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  14. No argument there, Spring can show up anytime now! Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  15. Fwiw, I've been seeing guys in the air off and on in Point. I'm pretty sure the new tower that went up by the motel on 10 is Sprint, too. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  16. Spring was when I heard the back haul work was supposed to start on a few. I thought they pulled some of it before frost, but I could be wrong. This crazy winter put the brakes on a lot of work for them, Cell com, AT, and several others. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  17. Yeah, even Tomah has LTE popping up. Lacrosse will be lucky if they see At&t hspa by years end, let alone LTE. My At&t service was nearly unusable last time I was there. Which is how its been here for over a year. Made the move to Sprint in January, couldn't be happier. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  18. Sprint LTE that is. At&t not so much. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  19. Stevens Point, WI. Most of northern WI is Edge only as well, and from what I was told, work has begun on LTE for Wausau market which includes Stevens Point and the northern markets. Wausau area has HSPA+, but it stops south of Knowlton and north of Merrill. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  20. Been there, done that. Feel sorry for the poor driver. You should see the places people want us to stick trucks! I wasn't hauling a shed, though. I was hauling a big combine. Roughly the same size. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  21. I dropped AT&T after 8 years. Sprint has made massive improvements since I had them as a company phone just a few years ago. I haven't dropped a single call I wasn't expecting to drop, and data compared to AT&T is fantastic. For the record, I think we'll see Sprint LTE before AT&T rolls out 3g here. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
  22. Maybe MN calls it something different. Deep freeze better for you? They call it permafrost in cheeseland. I've seen it done for repair, never for new install or upgrade. Maybe you guys hold frost longer than we do. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
  23. It would cost a fortune to do that up here. We don't just get a little ground freeze. We get permafrost. So, they typically use that as a last resort for emergencyrepair. I have seen them run temp over the top and bury in the spring if its a crunch time issue, but typically they just wait until thaw. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
  24. I got my phone a couple weeks ago and everywhere ive tested in central Wisconsin seems to be ehrpd. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
