S6 edge

Is there a setting where I can tell my phone to use b26 instead of b41? I'm in downtown Nashville and my phone keeps latching onto the clearwire B41. Above - 100db it's just terrible.

I feel like I'm seeing less LTE recently and wondering if a recent update could have affected this.

Hey guys, anyone had this happen? Getting no mobile data but SCP shows I'm connected. Tried restarting, toggling off data, airplane mode, etc... All to no luck.
Any thoughts guys?

What do you mean by Wifi while sleep?I have Verizon variant, but got the standby time right where I like it.
Few notable tweaks:
- Locations set at GPS only
- WiFi while sleep only when plugged in.
- Removed the bloat, etc.

That's all you got while in power saving mode all day?Had the S6 for about 2 weeks now and battery life for me has been great. Granted I always keep power saving mode on and use ultra power saving when at work when I need to call or text. Took off the charger at 5:30am and I'm at 12% now at 10:06

Interesting. We have non updated S6, which the device has an average 3dBm-4dBm better RSRP than my S5. With the latest firmware, we have seen upwards to 7dBm better than the S5 at the same location. It is noticeable because the new firmware on our S6 idles in the 90s comparing to the S5 in the 100s in our office.

I don't have b41 logged to really compare it to what's going on now. Just know I'm not dropping the calls.

Once I get through the next couple weeks with feedback, I plan to bring the issue up with them and see what she thinks.Great news. Now see if they can get samsung to fix the lte signal strength bars on their devices. Lol
Wishful thinking

So far so good for me. Drove a route today and purposely stayed on a call where I previously had dropped calls every time with my s6. I didn't have any breaking up or dropped calls like before.Seems like the issue is still there according to the latest posts
I'm pleased for now. I've also been in direct contact with a VP of Customer Service and a Product Manager at Sprint about the updates and will continue to over the next week to give them feedback.

Also per this post:Per these post it is to fix the drop calls. Will do drop call test today. I can drop calls all day on the S6 in San Diego.
I had em all scooped. [emoji14]

Lol, so I didn't miss anything informative...

I forgot to screenshot the update page before install, meant to do it.

Update should be available for the s6/s6 edge. Hopefully it takes care of the aggressive memory management and maybe improves battery life as well.
Yep, mine just downloaded the 130mb update this morning.
Per my conversation with a VP in Customer Service last week, this should also address a software issue causing dropped calls due to poor tower hand off in ALU markets.

Welp, I had a conversation with someone high ranking in Sprint's customer service today.
They are anticipating an update next week that will address the dropped calls issues. She said their research and product development teams have been working and testing over the couple weeks and they believe the issues are in the ALU markets and it's a software problem.
She took my information and is placing my 2 lines into a pool of testers and will follow up with me next week to ask how things are after the update.
Fingers crossed.

Seems to be Clear for the most part.

I'm in Tampa the next two days for work and the downtown area here is heavy b41. My data and calls so far haven't had any trouble.
-
I too am wondering if it is market based, like if it's an ALU market, etc... That's all highly above my pay grade though.Could these issues possibly be based on specific locations? I am asking because I am hearing all these issues yet I haven't experienced any of them on my edge or my m9.
-
LTE performance has been okay. On average about -5db worse than my N5.
There have been issues with dropping calls and failed texts for many on Sprint. A Google search will pull up many posts on Sprints Forums. I've had some issues with it.
Hoping a radio firmware update is in the works.

Why doesn't Hangouts allow you to send videos, being that you can send messages in another form than MMS?Whats there for android to fix? Its an mms limitation. Your average smartphone now can take hd video, just a few seconds of 720p or higher video could easily run several mb's, a video that's several minutes could easily run several hundred mb's. So the best thing to do is to upload it where ever then send out links.

Yes there is an issue with how LTE is getting reported by RSSI instead of RSRP, but the difference in the signal bars is 100% because it's different tech that travels different distances, is more or less fragile, and is perceived differently by your phone. You should read up on the technologies on this site. It will probably answer a LOT of your questions. See the FAQ thread in my signature. It's S4GRU reading basics 101. So as stated, this behavior is "normal". We just all wish that Sprint reported their LTE like Signalcheck does so people wouldn't feel like they always have terrible 1 bar signal, when really that should be like 3 bars.
My other posts sort of got buried with this. I get that it gets reported differently.
Many have reported that the dropped calls and failed texts stop once they switch to CDMA instead of CDMA/LTE. I've seen the same. Is this a LTE radio issue?
Sprint can't make up their mind, half the time they blame Spark/tower upgrades and the other half the time they blame Samsung. Samsung blames Sprint.
-
Yeah I knew there was something funky with it, however switching to CDMA still results in the phone not dropping calls or failing text messages. On idle signal bars are indicating data signal, when you switch to CDMA its for 3G/Voice. When you initiate a call you will also notice your bars might jump higher due to it switching to CDMA.
Samsung needs to fix their signal bar issue, it doesn't quite correlate properly with usable data.

I agree. ✌

Would it help anyone if I post screenshots of engineering or SCP with it on LTE/CDMA and then CDMA?
My phone shows 1 bar of signal on LTE/CDMA and then when I switch it to CDMA only and the device resets it shows 4 or 5 bars immediately.
I know signal bars aren't exact science but clearly that shows some kind of issue, right?
