  1. That does not sound valid. No offense I know the beamspeed guy is your friend, but beamspeed is full of it and has been since their inception. It's sad that they charge $70 dollars for "broadband" internet that barely gets 1mb down. I've seen some of the spectrum that beamspeed owns and it seems to be in the 900mhz range and I think that is what they use for their current services. Maybe he was talking about wimax?

  2. I hope in time sprint can fix these issues. I just gotta keep telling myself to be patient. It will get worse before it gets better. The wellton tower has seemed to stabilize a bit. But I still randomly switch to 1x sometimes.

  3. I was by 24th st and arizona ave and service has been terrible. Never have i had so many problems. I couldnt even make phonecalls and signal was fading in and out kind of like with the Telegraph Pass tower when its not functioning.

  4. You know, I don't think I've seen if there will be taxes added on to these prices. Hopefully it'll be a flat rate.

Im sure they will be a flat rate, taxes are usually applied when you purchase the minutes lol. Im so ghetto that i know this.....

  5. That's the only thing I can think of. But if their plan is to consolidate their pre paid brands then they should just go ahead and do it. As long as Boost and Virgin are in operation Sprint does not want to undercut them, so you get this PAYG plan that does not quite measure up to Boost and Virgin.

I think they may be wanting to test the water with it. But they should just do it....no point in beating around the bush as I always say.

  6. I know what you mean, but this is the only area that 3g is working well. The rest of the city is very slow most of the time we are 1 X. Lately the network has been acting up strange, hoping it's a sign of positive change send Robert did say that this area was target for upgrades during the winter.

Now that you mention it, i have been noticing some issues with my phone automatically switching to 1x for no reason. it has happened twice in the past two weeks. It didnt happen when i was in town though, it happened when i was in Wellton.

  7. Anomaly or coincidence but for the past two days just at about 630 pm all of sprint services seem to go down. When I say go down I mean no data or ability to make phone calls; text message is sporadic. Have you guys in Yuma notice this?

I was told by sprint that one tower at 20th street and Ave B was completely down, but this effected people in foothills up by 10E

hmmm i was in town that weekend as well, but i did not have any problems with my service. The Telegraph pass tower has been out usually around 7-8am and 10-11pm every day for the past 2 years. Not sure if it has anything to do with the outage.

  8. I think Sprint might be wanting to consolidate their prepaid brands. The only reason i would have to switch to the actual Sprint branded service is for the roaming. But honestly im not sure if 70 dollars a month really justifies that. Hopefully they can work out the kinks and get it to work with any phone they offer and maybe adjust their plans pricing a bit.

I think a lot of the sites are AAV (Alternative Access Vendor, I think) basically a local ISP that can provide the contracted speed by any given means. This is usually ethernet where the local vendor will extend their fibre as far as they can, then the rest will be ethernet that can scale up to GB and beyond.

That makes sense. I just recently saw centurylink at the well ton tower but Verizon just launched lte here so that could be the case as well

  10. Speeds here in yuma seem to be average of late. The wellton tower provides atleast 1mb down 90% of the time. Sometimes in late evenings it gets bogged down, but a hell of alot better than say 6 months ago. Their are still a few towers in town that are just completely unusable till like 2 am....but thank god NV is coming any day now.

Hey hypeo do you know anything about construction licenses being issued in the yuma area? or does anyone for that matter?

    MERRY X_MAS all yall!!!!! :)

  11. I'm putting money on that as well. I discovered the samething when navigating the map. Their are two new towers in the foothills. One on north frontage between fortuna and 8 1/2e which Ido believe is a verizon tower. The other tower I haven't located but I do believe its an att tower. Att has been doing quite of bit of expansion here lately along with verizon.

  12. Yeah i noticed that as well. Maybe the telegraph pass tower is new tower and that might explain the off and on of the tower all the time. But then again, it seems like its been happening for well over a year now so that might not explain it. Hopefully the tower was placed north along 95 somewhere...i sure could use some coverage out here at YPG
