So after digging around my assumption is there is a way to enable the DIAG mode through ADB...I have seen scripts which do this for AOSP ROMS however don't have the nuts to do try this...hopefully someone gives it a whirl...
perhaps a link to the scripts would help.

Aaaaargh
So, Google carries no more weight with Sprint? They used to be so cozy back when they began gvoice integration. Maybe there was some fallout related to Clearwire investments/non-investments. I know the Nexus is made by LG, but Nexus should equal Google (or maybe not)
My guess is they are releasing the less popular phones first to see how it goes.

A source just leaked us a snapshot of an internal document that includes more specific info on the Spark software updates. See below:
AJ
now we just need to dissect the update and see what it does
-
Why? Nobody cares and its annoying.
-
That is better than swapping SIMs. The SIM card concept is overrated; it is GSMA propaganda. I still do not have a SIM for my Nexus 5. Even T-Mobile stores do not want to give or sell me a SIM -- unless I sign up for one of their preferred plans that will pay a commission.
AJ
tmobile has been giving out free sims with free shipping all week. I ordered two for spares when I got the N5.
-
Yep, but should we really expect someone to pop in and read through 70+ pages to find out?
Yes.

obviously these phones were planned long ago and nv was expected to be further along. at this point they had no choice but to release them and hope for the best. they should have been upfront with everyone and put out a press release before launch so people in the affected areas could avoid purchase. keeping quiet about it is going to hurt them.

Thanks, I am going crazy trying to figure out why my speeds are the way they are. Is there another way for me to see exactly what I am connected to when my signal bar is showing LTE?
Lte discovery and Signal check are both good.

The speed of your LTE should not be affected by this. either you can connect or you can't.
-
Right. And this "purple" hypothesis is what we want to test. Scientific method -- you will not find that at a lot of other sites. But S4GRU holds itself to a higher standard. We hope that is why you keep coming back.
AJ
well that and the funny videos. Keep up the good work

So far all these areas look 'purple' to me.
-
Yes, I fully agree. But we need evidence to substantiate such a claim before we post an article. We are currently trying to gather that evidence via user submission in the just opened LG G2/Nexus 5 issues thread that I linked a few posts above.
AJ
Did you see fuunkychickens post with the document from sprint? I guess you still need to verify it but that should be a good start.
-
Whats funny is I was having this issue for almost 2 days when I got the device but then it started working normally.
My guess is I was connecting to legacy 3g while 4g was coming from a different tower. They just finished upgrading my towers 3g so the issue went away.

I would request s4gru to post (or allow someone to post) a list of the affected cities to help educate the masses.
Perhaps this would be best done on the blog so other sites can pick it up.

Nice. Why would Sprint launch a device that was going to cause people to not get any 4G at all? What the...
So I would bet this kind of upgrade takes some time and isn't a quick fix? Maybe something Sprint drags their feet on for a lo g time?
Sent from my Nexus 5
Well there is a reason those sites were not upgraded already. That being said the word is sprint will try to speed up the process.
-
I think I grasped that at a very low end level. Lol.
Anyone care to break it down to non engineering terms for the lay people? L

If your area has lots of purple on the map you are in trouble.
-
Well its good to finally know what the problem is. Too bad the fix isn't going to be quick for those in affected areas.
-
eCSFB Gaps are only in non-incumbent markets where a site has 4G LTE and no 3G upgrade.
So what areas have lots of 4g only acceptance reports? off to look at the map
-
check the g2 thread they have been talking about this.
-
That makes a lot of sense. I'm in the same boat. I live in the Harrisburg PA area. A very strong 4G LTE market. I just received my new LG G2 today and can't receive 1900 MHz 4G LTE.
Why would the NON "Tri Band" phones be able to connect to 4G LTE in the same area that the new Tri Band phones can't?
I just don't get it?
got to be something to do with the spark update due out in early 2014. I believe the lockdown they have in place is not working properly.

Wow, Verizon really does not want the Nexus 5 on their network, eh?
I plan to grab T-Mobile and AT&T SIMs without activating them to see if they will at least show a network connection. I realized that I might be able to test out my app on many networks by swapping out the SIM instead of keeping multiple test phones around for each carrier. No activation necessary, since I don't actually use data or minutes.. fingers crossed. This whole SIM thing is new to a long time CDMA-only guy.

I cut down my straight talk sim, put in my APN and had instant service. Just need to get one of the new LTE Sims to test. Kind of nice having options...

a few things to report, 1 good, 2 bad.
good: using the same car charger that i used with my S3, this thing charges SUPER FAST. alright!
bad: VOICEMAIL!!!?? what are you guys doing in regards to voicemail? if i get a voicemail, the phone doesn't alert me with an icon, flashing light, etc. i have to manually hold 1 to call myself to see if i have messages. no visual voicemail, this sucks. sprint needs to release their visual voicmail app in the play store with kitkat compatibility!
bad: mightytext. this does not work. maybe needs an update to work with kitkat/hangouts??!?!

We don't have B26 or B41 in my area, just B25. My N5 won't connect to B25 unless I set it under dial code 4636 (phone info) and change it to LTE only. Then I can only get data and no voice.
What's weird is that when I toggle airplane mode, it says LTE for a second, drops, then connects to eHRPD. Sprint says wait til tomorrow. I'm not holding my breath.
For those who have rock-solid LTE, what band are you on?
I don't believe when it flashes LTE that its actually doing anything. It did that for me in a non lte area.
-
One of the last things I did was perform a profile update to see if it would change my older modem (flashed from xda) back to the newest one. It did but I did not get any lte until about 1 hour later so I don't think it was related however anything is possible. The very last thing I was doing was messing around with LTE Discovery app. I had actually just closed the app when LTE popped up. Now I really don't think that had anything to do with it just a coincidence.

I would be surprised if all three combined even came close to the g2 let alone the nexus.
