  1. Has anyone been able to get LTE on a 32GB Black?

I got it activated no problem, but have been in known LTE areas where my EVO 4GLTE would pick up strong LTE quickly and have not gotten anything on the N5. After a reboot or airplane toggle, the LTE logo flashes on the signal bars and then the phone goes back down to eHRPD. Not sure if this is a graphical glitch or if it is having trouble authenticating ?

More MEID issues? Issues with my SIM? Any ideas?

I'm having the exact same problem.

  2. Just to echo what everyone else has been saying, the international chat is the way to go. They are shipping the sim now with no hassle. They asked if I wanted it 3-5 days or overnight for an extra $12.95. I went for the overnight since my nexus is already shipped.

Thanks S4GRU! You probably saved me a major headache.

  3. So I've been reading this thread and checking sensorly. I'm from Southern AZ and going to be visiting all the touristy places in San Fran proper and be staying in San Rafael in a hotel. Would you think I would get 4g around most of the city? Is San Fran lit up mostly with 4g?

There are several places in the bay area where the LTE is great but San Francisco in not one of them. There has not been any progress in San Francisco in months. Downtown you will get a strong LTE signal but don't try to use it during the morning commute through the evening commute. It won't work. The Castro, Noe Valley, and Mission districts don't have any LTE at all.

I know there is a working 4G tower near the fisherman's wharf. In some of the areas without the tall buildings, the LTE works most of the time. Golden gate park and city zoo has LTE in some spots.

Outside of the city, you'll find the bay area is coming along nicely except for Berkeley. San Rafael should have good coverage.

  4. Just read a post on XDA regarding activating the Play Store version of the phone:

I am a manager at a sprint store. The only difference between the play store version and the one from sprint directly is that the play store one doesn't come with a Sim card that is needed to activate the phone on the sprint network. We were advised today that anyone purchasing the phone from the play store should be directed to a sprint service and repair center as they will have the cards needed to identify the device on the sprint network. Hope this helps!

  5. I actually live on the island where they're building it. The security they had here to guard it was pretty ridiculous a few months back. Now you can practically walk up to it. Whatever they're doing, it's almost done. They have some black netting just over the barge. It's really generic looking, no windows, no signs, just a big white box on a barge.

  6. I was in the middle of nowhere, on one of those 4wd only roads in the southern part of the island, mountains all around, no buildings or towers to be seen, yet ..... full HSPA+ signal on Siminn.

That's quite a coincidence. We might have crossed each other in Landmannalaugar or Þórsmörk then when I was doing the same thing. I had the same experience with Vodafone.is. HSPA+ everywhere, including the highlands. SIM card only cost 1000kr and came with 1000kr worth of minutes which made the card free.

The NOVA LTE service only worked in the capital but when it worked, it was awesome. At first I felt bad that I used 3GB of their bandwidth backing up my pictures. After I looked up how much it cost, I didn't feel so bad. Makes me a little jealous that it's so cheap and fast.

I did see a bunch of spools of fiber at the harbor with Ericsson logos on the spools. It looks like Siminn is getting ready for a big LTE deployment too.

Wireless is cheap in Iceland because of me. You can send me thanks via a PayPal donation. ;)

I guess I don't have a choice. Because of you I had a great wireless experience during my vacation  . I wish I could say the same during my road trip through Baja Mexico.

  7. So I just got back from a vacation in Iceland. In the capital city, Reykjavik, I stayed at a B&B where they provided WiFi via an LTE hotspot. I was thinking, that can't possibly be economical. I'm in a downtown apartment, there should be better options than this!

So I looked into it. Nope. ADSL is the best you can do, and it's only 6mbps. I was pulling 50mbps off this hotspot and they were charging pennies per MB compared to what US companies charge.

    See for youself: https://www.nova.is/barinn/internet/4g

The exchange rate is 120 ISK to 1 USD. That means their 100GB LTE plan costs about $50 USD. For $50 on Sprint, I only get 6GB, and a prepaid 3GB plan costs $60 on Verizon!

Now I'm thinking, what the hell?! Why is LTE service so much cheaper in Iceland?
