I'm guessing now that the merger is off they realize they're gonna have to match T-Mobile's huge-ish rural-ish buildout over the last year.

No. Why?  Build out places where most people will not go anytime soon, if ever?  And if most people think that they might, for example, go to Wyoming, they are gullible and/or stupid.  I would rather that Sprint not go "chasing stupid"-- even if that might move the needle in perception.  Instead, focus on being the best that Sprint can be in places where most people already are most of the time -- and that largely is within the established footprint

I believe AJ made a good point a few weeks ago that would apply for the first half of 2018 with Capex spend.  Densify, most definitely.  There are macro towers scattered throughout Sprint's native footprint that need upgrades to better the current network.

Build out, maybe a little but "chasing stupid" would not be the best course of action in the short term.  Maybe in the second half of CY 2018 or CY 2019 will allow Sprint to have a controlled expansion.

Looks like we could be getting Intel modems for a 5G iPhone?

I wonder if we’ll have Qualcomm or Intel modems next year.

Interesting.  It reads as Intel will be ready, at the earliest, 2019.  It makes me wonder about Apple's ability to incorporate the new chipset by 2019 since they engineer and spec their phones 12 to 24 months out.  I would say it would be the fall of 2020 before a 5G iPhone is available.

I have no idea exactly where/which intersection, but I'm 99% sure just from looking at this that its somewhere in Murfreesboro, TN.

It is in Murfreesboro.  It is close to NW Broad and Memorial.  Unfortunately I believe they took the sign down with all of the road construction.

does the verizon iphone 7 plus work on Sprint's band 41 network? i checked apple's website and it look like it does but I wanted to double check

Yes, the iPhone model for Verizon is the same model that Sprint uses.  All that is needed is switching the SIM card.

    What's the current version?

I'm on 30.0 as well. Ironically I feel my X is great with service.

There was an update to 30.1 when I updated my 6S+ to iOS 11.1.  I was promted as soon as the update for iOS was complete.  maybe that will help.  PRL is 55064

Was your upgrade eligibility not reset properly for some reason? Not sure what else would need to be reconfigured. iOS devices are on the BYOD list.

You're aware that not having AutoPay enabled for Unlimited Freedom costs you an extra $5/Month per line, right?

I am not sure what the problem is with the upgrade eligibility.  The Sprint app says I am eligible today to upgrade.  Maybe changing my plan a couple of weeks ago reset something.

I was aware that AutoPay saves five dollars a month but it is something I do not want.  To me, it gives a company access to my checking account.  With the data breaches that are happening around the world (not with Sprint... yet) and an issue that happened with Sprint a few years ago with the account, I prefer to not relinquish the control.

  8. I am a little frustrated with Sprint today.  I tried to order a new iPhone this morning through the Apple Store App and received a message that I needed to cancel a plan change in order to resolve.  I called the number and was told that Sprint needed to reconfigure the Unlimitied Freedom plan I changed to a few weeks ago to be able to purchase a new phone.  Then the CSR wanted me to move to auto pay (no thanks) and tried several other items that I did not want to move forward with.

If I am going to buy a new phone at full price, why in the hell do I need to go through these additional steps.  Should I not be able to bring a Sprint compatible phone to activate without any hoops or hassles?

Highway 96 @ I-65 & McEwen @ I-65 had B41 and plenty of bandwidth. It was as I went around the mall and on Carothers up to Moores Lane, I only noticed their wasn't bandwidth because I tried sending an email that error-ed out twice but ultimately sent the 3rd time. I will have to see how Brentwood and north is. I am likely moving that direction. I never really go to Murfreesboro (and once I change my job EoY I def don't need to worry about Spring Hill/Columbia). Is B41 deployed extensively in Nashville yet? I know we got it slow because the huge Clearwire deployment we had.

    *edited for grammar fixes

Most places where there are large congregations of people, it is a challenge for the network.  If you tired over the weekend, it would be even worse.

B41 has been deployed but not sure on 3CA (still on a 6S+).    Some areas are much slower due to the population density.  Downtown Nashville can very slow due to the growth, addition of new high rise buildings and events.  I ran a speedtest in my office this morning and it was ok.  On B41, 10.7dn, .78 up.

I just got Sprint service and I have to say I am surprised to find that B25/26 seem to be super overloaded, Franklin is all over the board with cell performance with a few spotty areas that have speedy B41 and other parts getting less than a megabit, I only get x1 at my house but the map says I should get LTE. I have a unlocked iPhone 8. Thoughts? Are their that many Sprint users in this area? Seems like everyone I know is Verizon/AT&T I figured I would have decent enough coverage...

It depends on where you are around the Nashville area.  I see Franklin listed as your location.  HWY 96 is hit or miss with the topography.  Next to I-65, it is pretty good.  The mall slows things down quite a bit.  If you are on the west side, well... I would check the maps that are on the site to see where the nearest tower is to your location.

I had issues with topography in Mt. Juliet due my home being on the slope of a large hill.  I have two 25/26/41 towers within a mile from my home.  Check to see if you qualify for a magic box.  It helped in my case.

That’s did see! The skyline was filed with cranes which was pretty amazing to see when entering the city. Sprint overall is pretty decent in Nashville but once small cells and macro cells hit that City it will be amazing there. I wish I had time to see how the service was at Opry Mills mall. Last time I was there I saw my LTE drop when going into some stores.

The skyline seems to change every week here.  More buildings are scheduled to be constructed.

Wish i could tell you more about Opry Mills.  I do not frequent that property unless it is a last resort.
