Black 32 on the way. It's pretty much everything I've been asking for from Google for some time. The fact that we knew every spec from leaks make the announcement slightly less exciting, but still exactly what I wanted.
The only fun things we didn't know in advance:
- There is an RGB notification light.
- A ton of wires and accessories (OTG dongle?) come in the box.
- Free Daydream (maybe can sell for like $50 and recoup some of the price...).
- The supposed extent of the improvements to the camera.
I think I missed where it said free Day Dream...
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the lack of front facing speakers...

Do we know if we will need a new sim since it does LTE 3xCA? My bad if this was covered already.
-
Kind of disappointed when compared to my N6P.
Main gripes: Looks too much like the iPhone (large bezels on top and bottom), and didn't touch on the speaker situation/setup (will have to wait for initial reviews).

Pixel 32GB: $649
Pixel 128GB: $749

No, many, many multi mode devices preceded the Nexus 5. Otherwise, most international roaming would not have been possible for VZW and Sprint.
AJ
Good point. Totally forgot about international roaming....
-
Wasn't it also one of the first devices to be able to go on any carrier regardless of the network being CDMA of GSM???
-
Thanks!
I hope the rumors that the phone will only be available thru Google and Verizon stores. Especially if the price point is $650+...
Same. I was hoping for the rumors about the device being sold through the major carriers. I've been sitting on an upgrade for a while since I bought my 6P through Google. I also really hope the $650 price point isn't for the smaller of the two devices.
I'm not saying the quality might not warrant the premium price but we have gotten used to the tradition lower price the Nexii (yes, these new devices are not long part of the Nexus program).
I hope Google remembers the backlash from when they prices the N6 at 650 although I was personally okay with that since it was sold through the carriers and qualified for their promotions.
Just my opinions...

I'm a dude.....
Awkward......
I put my jeans size so indication that I don't shop in the Big & Tall sections....

Would really like there to be a cellular option.... I have another 7" tablet that even fits in some of my pants pockets. If this one has a 7" screen with a slightly thinner bezel, it'll likely fit even better...
I was able to put the original Nexus 7 in my back pocket with a cruzerlite tpu case on it. Levi jeans with a 34 waist.

Totally interested in this now that I have chromecasts throughout my house. If it's made by Huawei we can expect good build quality like the Nexus 6P.
-
As I am :[ I just want it to be official lol.
I hope the rumors aren't true that Google is giving up on the nexus line. I love stock android, and quick updates
I'm okay with it if they go in the same direction as the pixel c. I'm personally bummed that HTC is making this year's devices...
-
So did the phone get skipped for Android 7.0?
If it helps you feel any better, Google hasn't posted the 7.0 images for the N6P. They are posted for the Pixel C, N5X, Nexus Player, and the Nexus 9 (wifi).
I'm currently running 7.0 on my N6P through the beta update...

Dropping the front facing speakers is really the only thing that keeps me from wanting the 10.
I feel like when HTC fixes a design they did wrong on a phone they ruin something else.
-
I have heard the HTC 10 in person and the dual amp high/low setup is not as bad as you would think, the front speaker does the highs and the bottom one does the lows.
Yea, I've read the same but haven't tested it myself. Just logically, facing the ears would be better as opposed to away... As themuffinman mentioned, it's not as loud.
Personally, if I'm using the speakers I want them loud as I would be most likely sharing a video or song with someone. If not, I would just use headphones. My opinion is the speakers should face the same as the viewing direction of the screen.
Just sharing my thoughts, others will differ.

If it's going to look like the EVO they absolutely need to bring back the kick stand paired with dual front facing speakers! Just saying... Not sure why that didn't happen already....

Maybe "hard reset" isn't the term I mean. On my previous HTC phone (EVO LTE and One E8) I could hold power and volume up and it would come up and say "Continue holding for x seconds to restart". It was supposed to simulate a battery pull.

I believe with the EVO LTE it was just holding the power button for 10 sec or so.

Power and volume down is screen shot.

Typically, when you are doing a hard reset without going in the factory settings the device is off. With the device is off, press and hold Power + Volume down. This will power up the device into the bootloader.
Can't take a screen shot when the device is off, unless this is a new feature in the HTC 10 that I am unaware of.
Edit: In my earlier post, I assumed it was common knowledge to the turn device off beforehand.
Here's are two videos just in case further clarification is needed:

How do you do a "hard reset" on this phone? Holding power and volume up doesn't seem to work anymore after getting Marshmallow
Sent from my 2PS64 using Tapatalk
Try Power + Volume down OR Power + Volume up & down.
Nexus devices like Power + Volume down.

I know it's a render but sad to see one speaker....and on the back no less. Hopefully the final product keeps the duals.
-
I'm really really really hoping HTC doesn't make down facing speakers for either models. I don't know why they would move away from that design... Personally, that's a make or break, I'm sure others feel differently.

I roam on Verizons cellular band at my house also I just upgraded from an g3 and it worked fine when roaming
I think it was briefly mentioned earlier. Go into cellular network settings and make sure data roaming is on. Most devices are off by default. Recently went on a cruise and got a text from sprint saying roaming was included but couldn't get data to work. Had to switch data roaming to on... Just a suggestion as I don't have the HTC 10.
Edit: I'm referencing through android settings, not through the dialer.

That's true for M8/M9, but Uh-Oh for 10 is different.
Definitely only silver variant for Sprint, HTC has it up on its site now too. $600 with a coupon + Uh Oh, still probably a worse deal than $504 from Sprint.
This might sound silly but lack of carbon gray for Sprint just tips the balance for me towards getting an unlocked one from HTC and using it on TMo. I've had 6 different black / dark gray Sprint HTC phones, not getting a silver one now... Also fed up with lack of development for Sprint on XDA. This will only get worse for HTC 10 as there's only 3 SKUs - international, US unlocked and Sprint. Will keep my SERO account active in case the rumored HTC Nexus this year turns out to be comparable to HTC 10.
Makes me nervous that if HTC does make the Nexus it will only be released in one color and not 4 like the 6P...
