  1. I regrettably spent a little time over at the sprint community forum this weekend end. Its ridiculous how pissed off and impatient some people are over there. It is almost depressing. Then you try and tell them so just calm down and be patient because lte is coming. Try explaining that Verizon's lte network(which they like to compare sprints to all the time) did not just appear over night. Its like they dont even read what you posted and they come at you like they are a mother bear and you just stole there newborn cub. Needless to say I gave up on those people. I knew better than to go back over there, but I did it anyway.

  2. Even stock prls there is 3g roaming. I found I could even roam on VZW in North LA with a standard PRL.

    Sent from my little Note2

im on a stock prl, 25010

If you do a lot of roaming, be careful with your streaming, as even streaming over CDMA1X can easily transfer 15-60 MB per hour. And that can eat fairly quickly into the 300 MB per month roaming quota.

shouldnt be an issue, i typically dont see more than about 50MB a month roaming. then again i rarely go over 150MB a month on sprint. thanks for the heads up though

  3. This thread has cleared up a bit of confusion for me. I was in zip code 49887 today. The closest native sprint coverage is over 20 miles away there so obviously I was roaming. I was streaming pandora while driving and stopped to google something. I figured it would take forever being that I would be roaming on 1x and wasnt going to bother to kill pandora. To my amazement the webpage loaded instantly. So then I decided to run a speed test and pulled dowm just over 2 Mb. This is where I was confused because to my understanding 1x is not capable of that. After reading this thread my assumption is that my prl must allow me to roam 3g in this area

  4. It seems a bit dumb to me that building permits are required for adding or replacing equipment on a tower. I can see it necessary for building a tower, or the little brick buildings that verizon and at&t like to house the cabinets in around here, or when extensive electrical work needs to be done. Alas, I guess it is what it is.

  5. What I wish we could really get is what we had with WiMax 4G and we do have with WiFi; a separate signal strength indicator along with the 1X signal strength.

my dad has a flip phone, that has a set of bars for 1x and another set of bars for 3g. i am unsure of the make. i do know that it is a verizon phone. I would love to be able to have this, maybe even the option of putting whichever meters a person would prefer on the status bar

  6. I just went to check out a local site so I could get a baseline of is there, so I can tell when work is done at the site. That poor tower is getting its but kicked.. 6 sets of antenna arrays. 6 different electric metes. at&t, cellcom(local provider that is partnered with verizon in the area, sprint, clearwire and nextel were all labeled on different meters. the 6th wasnt labeled and was attached to one tiny box and a very small array. no visible work was noticeable other than some digging for new lines to one of the little brick buildings. which i assume is for cellcom(verizon) because they just fired up lte here about a month ago.

What I thought was cool is that if sprint/softbank acquire clear they will own half of that site

Not sure if anyone cares about any of this but I felt like telling someone

LAS VEGAS, Jan 07, 2013 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Sprint S +0.68% today joined with Microsoft to announce the upcoming availability of Windows Phone 8 smartphones on the Sprint nationwide network. Sprint will bring two initial handsets to customers by summer - one each from Samsung and HTC.

Sprint is the only national carrier with Truly Unlimited(SM) 4G LTE data, text and calling to any mobile with no metering, no throttling, and no overages. Sprint will bring the unlimited data experience to Windows Phone 8 with Sprint's Everything Data plan with Any Mobile, Anytime(SM) including unlimited Web, texting and calling to and from any mobile in America while on the Sprint Network, starting at just $79.99 per month. This is a savings of $20 per month versus Verizon's comparable plan with unlimited talk, text and 2GB Web (excludes taxes and surcharges).

"Sprint has had a strong relationship with Microsoft for many years so we are excited to reinforce our commitment to the Windows 8 platform by sharing the details and timing for our first Windows Phone 8 smartphones," said Fared Adib, Sprint senior vice president, product development and operations. "These smartphones combine a robust new operating platform with the benefit of Sprint's unlimited data plans. There is no doubt these phones will quickly become an extension of your PC experience right in the palm of your hand."

Both the Samsung and HTC smartphones will offer Sprint 3G and 4G LTE and impressive lists of features including dual cameras enabling video chat, dual-core processors for enhanced internal speed between applications and support for expandable external memory. Additional device details, including pricing, will be shared closer to their availability dates.

Windows Phone 8 offers a truly personal phone experience, connecting Sprint customers to the people and information that matters most to them. With a similar look and feel, the same technology core, and the same built-in SkyDrive cloud service, Windows Phone 8 is built to work seamlessly with Windows 8 PCs, Microsoft Surface devices and the Xbox 360 console.

"We're looking forward to bringing two new Windows Phone 8 devices by Samsung and HTC to market with Sprint this summer, adding to our strong Windows Phone 8 portfolio," said Terry Myerson, Corporate Vice President of the Windows Phone Division. "These devices, coupled with Sprint's unlimited 4G LTE data experience, will make it easy for Windows Phone 8 customers to have the most personal smartphone experience possible, wherever they are."

Sprint introduced its all-new 4G LTE network in July 2012 and now offers service in 49 marketsi. Sprint has announced nearly 150 markets that will see an official LTE launch in the coming months. 8. This thread has gone away from what the original point was, which is this

Nobody likes a complainer. Complaining is the essence of inaction! If it's truly as bad as you say, then get up and do something about it. Solve your problems instead of yelling at others and wasting energy. Find a personal solution and execute it. Whining on the internet will do nothing positive.

  9. It should work no problem. I did this with a friend of mine who has the evo lte. I have the gs3. Yes it will just share a link to the app in the play store as it will only use the "android beam" standard nfc tech which is very slow and only meant for transferring small amounts of data. You will not be ablt to transfer the actuall app files . S beam, which is what samsung devices use to transfer larger files.(pictures, videos etc) only uses the nfc part of the technology to create a wifi direct connection between the devices to transfer the larger files. Obvioulsy connected the devices directly to one another via wifi gives you a much faster transfer rate as well as increased range. I would have to imagine that sooner than later there will be an app that will allow all phones with nfc and wifi direct capability to do s-beam like transfers

  10. There are 2 contacts on the left of the battery and 2 below the battery, next to the sim card. The Verizon wireless charging back has a wireless qi coil to charge the phone and a nfc coil built into the replacement back plate that uses the extra contacts that arent on the Sprint version.

  11. Do you bank at a credit union? That discount will waive all activation and upgrade fees.

There are few others that waive it but credit union member is the most common.

Sorry for hijacking but this question is slightly related.

If one has a cooporate discount already applied to there account, can they also apply a credit union discount?

  12. How many people compare the "build quality" but slap an otterbox defender or similar case on it anyway?

My gs3 came by ups on monday. Went to put the battery in and activate it. Felt like i was going to snap it in half pulling off the battery cover. Then I played with it for about and hour and didnt like how flimsy it felt in my hand. So I jumped in the car and went and picked up a defender. Much better feel now.

Just doesn't feel anywhere near as tough naked as my og evo did

  13. this is why i cant even browse the sprint community forums anymore. All i ever read is people whining, complaining and threatening. It becomes quite tiresome.

On another note, I have had friends that had sprint and pissed and moaned about the inadequate coverage in this area, and they fled to at&t because "they have better coverage). The truth of the matter is that none of the carriers have improved coverage over another here in the Upper Peninsula. Where one carrier has decent coverage another's is spotty so it all evens out. The best part is those same friends who fled to at&t then come over to my house and have asked me for my wifi password so they could watch a youtube video, and tell me that they cant stream pandora while they are riding around in there cars(when i can all of the time) come to find out, at&t doesn't even have 3g in my area.
