I hear ya man. I bought the exact same phone in the exact same year only to be bummed that ,4G WiMax never even made it into the county except for that protection site off of I-5 near Nobel Drive. Although let's be honest, there are sites below the State Route 52 equator (which believe it or not, tons of people think they've hit North County once they venture north of that freeway (I would beg to differ as the North County border starts north of the State Route 56.

Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2

I know what you mean but for people like myself who have been waiting for 4G since 2010 when I switched to Sprint and got the "first 4G phone" in the EVO 4G it has been a long time coming. Now just hope Sprint remembers there are people below the North County and starts activating 4G down here soon. Nice to see sites lighting up but just wish some would light up from Downtown and below -
Have to stay patient people, I'm stoked that Sprint is launching 4G LTE in San Diego just like everyone else is but until this market is officially launched by Sprint, just assume that we are always going to be in testing mode.

Mmmm, I could go for a slice of LTE pie. Hot, fresh, & speedy pie.

So basically you know sprint has issues and dont want to talk about it.
Its all legit constuctive criticism in which sprint wants to keep hush.
I manage 20 bus offices and all have VZ LTE as a second source for data.
None of my LTE Modems fall ever below 11-megs ever. I do test and monitor full time.
I do know that if you are power user VZ and Sprint will slow your modem down. I know provisioning staff that have told
me if I ever slow down to call and have them open my account back up for speed. I wont get technical here on what is done.
My issues is Sprint is selling LTE in an area that IS live and they are no furture along today than 8months ago.
Yes I will most likely leave but I will make statements that other potential new accounts should be aware before they are stuck.
Case of the Mondays on a Sunday, eh?

My coworker said he was able to get 4G from Community (Poway) all the way to the 15 freeway on Poway Rd. Then from 15 down Scripps Poway Parkway til Community. I will have to verify, try to make it on my way home today.
Here's that Poway cluster. I didn't map it but kudos to the person(s) that did.

Why can't you map on Sensorly? is it because you have a bad phone?
If you're calling an iPhone a bad phone, then yes.

Recorded more 4G LTE in Southern Carlsbad, in and around the intersection of El Camino Real & La Costa Ave. I did have Sensorly running and will post a screenshot when the info is fully uploaded.

Oh Man, I work right between the new purple blob, and the La Jolla purple blob. I can't wait for them to converge. I'll head over there tomorrow at lunch, or maybe on the way home tonight.
Update:
Ok,I drove south on Ruffin Rd from the 52 and it seemed pretty spotty and died out just south of Clairemont Mesa Blvd. looking at Sensorly now I see the signal looks stronger by the 52, so maybe the tower is up that way. I did two speed tests: it failed once and only got .93 Mbps next.
I wouldn't be surprised that if all the prelaunch LTE sites are expecting this simultaneously. I was getting very similar speeds in the Carlsbad cluster over the past weekend.

Sounds like the site is having issues. However, the EVO LTE does not show LTE signal strength in bars. Only voice, even when 4G icon is showing:

Does the same rule apply to 3G too?

Made the I-5 Carlsbad blob slightly wider on the streets paralleling the freeway on Avenida Encinas and Paseo del Norte between Poinsettia Lane and Palomar Airport Road.

Summer in the Central Valley, that is no fun. May as well be on the sun.

Update on the La Jolla/Gilman site: just drive through on the way to an appointment and it's back on. Got better speeds that last time from speed test but I lost the screenshot. Mapped it in sensorly though.

That's good to see. When I did drove around through that La Jolla/UTC/Golden Triangle cluster last week, I was able to pick up 4G LTE, however ping times were bad. On the first three speedtests I ranged anywhere from 278-678ms ping time. On the 4th one I got a decent ping of 119ms.

Bookert- are you- are you mapping yet? You're not testing are you? Bookert?
I mapped the Poinsettia Lane stretch & the La Jolla Colony Drive, and have and have had Sensorly running anytime I've been moving around the car throughout Southern California. How about you Iansilv? Have you been mapping?

Very nice! I see six separate blobs on San Diego now! Hopefully all these areas fill in. Sprint has got to love this- they should be mapping with sensorly too!
Settle down, I know you're excited about 4G LTE in the San Diego area, we'll get to mapping when we can.

I think I am going to quit sprint if we don't get LTE soon. My contract is almost up and AT&T have LTE T-Mobile has HSPA+ and verizon has LTE, they seem more worth it. Maybe even straight talk.
Worth it until you go over your data allotment.

I wouldn't be too bummed that LTE was turned off as it's in a testing phase. I'm just ecstatic that Sprint is overseeing this 4G operation as opposed to letting another company (Clear) which was underfunded and couldn't complete it's 4G WiMax buildout, this giving San Diego of feeling screwed the first time around.

For what it's worth, San Diego got eHRPD right around mid October and in the past 10 days or so, LTE started to popup.
