  1. No. Your phone will just show LTE with the Spark "sun" icon in your notification bar, whether you're on Spark or just on normal LTE.

However, there is an app out there called SignalCheck (with a Lite free version or a Pro version with some extra features) that will tell you whether you are on LTE Band 26 or LTE Band 41 or just the normal Sprint Band 25 (labeled just as "Sprint"). You should check it out.

Fortunately I do have the Signal Check app.
  2. So I ended up getting the Galaxy S5 with a 2 year contract extension with Sprint. I read the press release proclaiming that Los Angeles has been launched with Sprint Spark. According to the Spark coverage map, it seems to be all over central and northern Orange County. Now is the coverage map relatively accurate with regards to Spark in Orange County, or is it over exaggerated? Either way I'll be interested in testing to see if Spark is in Orange County when I go to the Angel game on Sunday.

  3. Was at the NCAA Tournament last night inside Honda Center and man, 4G LTE speeds were unusually brutal. I got full bars of LTE but I really couldn't do anything with it like check stats of the games. I'm not sure if Sprint has a DAS installed inside of Honda Center but as soon as I got out onto the Douglass & Katella, I was getting 15megs download.

0.05 megs down/1.84megs up with a 48ms ping time. I do understand that speeds slow down with a bunch of people in a small concentrated area but to have unusable LTE is frustrating.

  4. Had to drive to Corona from San Diego to swap cars with my brother and Sprint has made a marked improvement with expanding 4G LTE along the I-15 corridor from Temecula to Corona. I had a solid 4G LTE signal from Murrieta to about a mile north of the Lake Elsinore outlets which then switched back to 3G which only lasted to Corona Lakes where 4G LTE switched back on all the way to Automobile Club of Southern California off of El Camino Ave.

Then on the way back I decided to stop by Storm Stadium (aka The Diamond) in Lake Elsinore to see if 4G LTE made it out to the ballpark, which sure enough it did (wasn't sure it was since either the 4G LTE petered out or no one mapped it, which eventually became the latter as opposed to the former on Sensorly). So I mapped the parking lot, took a speed test on speedtest.net and got 4.47Mbps download/2.07Mbps upload on a 50ms ping time.

As someone who goes to about 10 Storm games, I couldn't be happier. It was unbearable to use Sprint's data along the I-15 corridor, now, that isn't the case anymore and I'm super stoked about that.

  5. Still an occasional bad pocket in San Diego. These might be the worst ping times I've ever had of all time. This was inside the Jenny Craig Pavilion at USD, about 40 minutes before tip of the Gonzaga/USD game. 0.04Mbps download/0.22 Mbps upload with a ping of 2,771ms on CDMA. On eHRPD it was 0.14 Mbps download/0.26Mbps upload with a ping time of 1,465ms.

  6. It would be great to see Oceanside 92057 and 92058 areas getting more LTE. Those locations haven't been touched that much.

you do realize that just because a market is launched doesn't mean that Sprint is done with it. They launch when there's about either a 40 or 50% completion.

  7. Any word on how LTE coverage inside STAPLES Center is?. Last time I went was back in April and it was non existent inside the arena. I can't imagine too much has changed probably because the LTE can't penetrate inside the building. I do know STAPLES Center installed WiFi, hopefully it suffices, although with my experience in San Diego, PETCO Park's WiFi which is sponsored by Verizon, is ridiculously slow for non Verizon customers and I know Verizon sponsors the WiFi at STAPLES Center.

  8. Found some 4G LTE at the Del Mar Racetrack on Jimmy Durante Blvd last night and a bit more 4G LTE in the southern part of Oceanside Harbor today. Was able to map both locations on Sensorly. Sensorly maps be updating within the next 24 to 48 hours. I think Solana Beach and northern Del Mar should be a good place to search around for LTE.

  10. I dunno about anyone else, but in Del Mar, my phone seems to be on 3G-EVDO A quite a bit the past few weeks. Phone is set to accept 3G & 4G. I wonder if Del Mar/Solana Beach is getting worked on. I did use to have eHRPD here.

  11. I was walking back to my car after work in Del Mar, 92014 on the corner of Stratford Way and Luneta Drive and Signal Check Pro notified me that my voice service switched to 800. I didn't think we were getting any that in San Diego due to the IBEZ. zepeduha.jpg

  12. Went to the Cowboys/Chargers game on Sunday, sitting in Plaza Section 20, Row 20, under the loge level overhang and I was sitting in a cell phone blackhole. I was in the mindset of not botheing to use data, because with any venue of that size concentrated in a small area, data is going to be overloaded. I wasn't even that much surprised about having text message issues in trying to send them. What I was surprised with though I've never seen my phone go from roaming to native coverage so much. The only thing I can think of maybe because of my seating location, was causing all of the roaming issues.

  13. Was at Angel Stadium last night, sitting in left field first row, green shirt, and man inside the stadium. I was only able to get 1xRTT. I don't know if it's because of my seating location or what, but service was brutal last night. I wasn't even getting eHRPD. Weird thing was, as soon as I entered the parking lot, I was getting eHRPD. Posted Image

  14. I wonder if the indian casinos somehow spur up 4G LTE in someway, shape or form. I mean it doesn't make sense that isolated parts of rural eastern San Diego County is getting 4G LTE. The first screenshot was taken at Golden Acorn Casino near Boulevard & the second screenshot was taken at Barona Casino.Posted Image

  15. So not exactly Yuma, but was on my way back from San Diego, heading east back to Yuma. Just as I came out of the mountains, about 40 miles from El Centro I pulled this

I'm excited to see what speeds for lte will be in Yuma once it goes live. If I get even half of that I will bee stoked!

This was my first real taste of lte. Hit it a couple times in San Diego but barely pulled 4mb down and 1mb up there.

Fair to assume, FanofSkynyrd, that one of these 2 lines of LTE is where you got that speedy service.
