  1. I know that the Galaxy S Aviator (uscc droid charge) had a plethora of LTE bands. Is that still the case with the Galaxy S III? I only ask as it could point to roaming agreements and the possibility of including multiband LTE radios in future Sprint phones.

Funny you mention that, I was just reading about the different GS3 variants on the wikipedia page :)

US Cellular is the SCH-R530 model and supports 700, 1700 (AWS) MHz for 4G LTE.

  2. It would probably be better to first start with a network-share agreement to lead up to a merger.

One way it can work is that Sprint deploys LTE along with T-Mo's AWS, and T-Mobile deploys LTE along with Sprint's PCS. This will be in completely different markets so no two deploy in the same market. Since both of them are deploying multi-modal equipment, this should be very much possible.

Sprint's deployment plan will be used in such a agreement, in which Sprint deploys in Round 1 & 3 markets, and T-Mobile deploys in Round 2 & 4 markets.

They will continue to compete as separate entities throughout the buildout and would have seemless LTE experience while moving through different markets.

After this is completed, VoLTE should be viable, thus the adoption of LTE-Only devices can start. CDMA and GSM subscribers will be moved unto LTE devices and will begin shutting down those legacy services(excluding T-Mobile's rural GPRS/EDGE only network until a later time).

This would be the american equivalent of

    (theoretical of course :D )

Wouldn't Sprint need additional antennas for the AWS spectrum?

  3. Realistically, I would think Sprint would absorb T-Mobile and in return, DT would get a large share of equity in the newly formed company.

If T-Mobile was CDMA and not GSM, then i think this would be a possibility, but with everything going in in NV, Sprint just needs to get their house in order.

The play to make a few years ago would have been an Alltel merger...

  4. C'est la vie! A year ago, I used flash occasionally on my phones/tablets. But I don't think I've used it in months. Seems like developers have been moving away steadily in the mobile environment.

Looks like Steve Jobs is getting one of his final wishes. The death of Flash. However, HTML5 is likely to allow more OS competition in the future, as it starts to even the playing field with apps. Could be ironic for Apple and Steve Jobs in the end.

The only thing I use flash for on my Android devices is for MLS Live streaming soccer games. For some reason, MLS ignores Android and won't create a streaming app for Android even thought Android has supported http live streaming since HC.

  5.

Yep. I was born at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids in 1976. :)

I have a lot of family remaining in the area.

  7. I'm wondering if on 7/15 if Sprint will allow access to LTE on all available towers' date=' or just those in the first/official markets. I was under the impression that LTE would be useable on upgraded towers even before the market officially launched. Will the LTE towers be usable as they go live?[/quote']

I sure hope it's all towers

  8. As a fellow Michigander (well, ex-patriot), I feel your pain. However, the list was just recently put into order. It was not in order previously where you noticed West Michigan. I'm sorry to be the source of your discomfort. :(

I didn't know you were from Michigan originally. I'm just excited that Michigan is a Round two market and we'll see some LTE this year. I didn't expect Lansing to see it until the end...

  9. What's up with the EVO LTE?

there is some sort of an issue in connecting to Sprint's lte and maintaining the connection. It is expected that a software update will resolve it
