  1. Really can't way for the new Touch ID cause this clicking is annoying as hell.

My 6+ has a nice, clean click on the Touch ID. It's actually nice. I think they wear out over time, and we just don't notice them getting "softer." My wife's 5s has a weird button. It almost does a double click.

  2. Guess adjusting to the new size is taking longer than expected haha

The rounded sides don't help. This phone is slicker than an ice cube with WD-40 sprayed on it. As much as I want to use this phone naked, it's just too slick. I've finally settled on a slim, matted case that has squared the sides. Grip is no longer an issue.

  3. When you have something plugged into the headphone jack, it overrides the earpiece. It's been like that for years, long before iOS 6/7.

I guess that could possibly make sense because the Apple headphones have calling capability. It would just seem logical to always have the phone as an options. Or, some way to sense if the plugged in device is just an AUX cord, or Apple headphones. I don't know.

  4. How is easy pay? I've always been kinda discriminative towards anything besides the 2 Year service agreement.

It's pretty good. You pay more per month, but less up front (only sales tax on the full price), and you get to upgrade after making 12 payments on the phone. My wife and I are lucky to be on a 10-person family, so our bill is only $56/line (unlimited, including insurance) x 2, so the extra money for 2 phones doesn't hurt that much.

  5. Ironically, they retained the naming rights to "the Cell." Hopefully after that deal expires, it'll go back to its proper name, Comiskey Park.

We shall find out in 2023. That naming deal couldn't possibly be renewed with zero cellular presence in Chicago, could it?

  6. I'm getting weird B41 speeds. My upload seems normal I'm getting around 10-15mbps, it's the download that's bothering me. It's like stuck below 3mbps. I'll start the speed test, it'll spike to like 6 and then slowly it goes down to 2.5 and it just stays there. What's up with that? Lol

I've had that happen several times. It's the server. Change it to another one in settings.

  7. I was just thinking, and isn't it really weird that Apple still hasn't update the Engineering screen. It still has the iPhone 4s graphics. I don't understand why. I'm pretty sure it would take them less than an hour to make it match the current generation iPhone.

It's probably of zero importance to Apple to maintain that function. It works, even though it looks ugly. And what percent of their customers even use it/know how to access it? Not many. I think the first or second beta of iOS 8 actually had it resized to fit the 5/5s screen, then a beta or two later, it was back to small.

  8. I think I read that once your B25 signal gets to -105 or less, the phone should begin scanning for B26 (although not necessarily connecting to it, based on the load on each at that time), as evidenced by "duplicate" PCIs (which in Samsung markets should be the same for all carriers on all 3 bands from a given sector) populating in SCP's neighbor cell list.

My phone can't read GCIs yet, so I can't second your observations that the PCS B block carrier is consistently stronger than the original G block carrier, but you might be on to something if that is the case. If it jumps down to the B block carrier (which should really only be happening due to load balancing, not because the signal is better), then that might preclude the phone doing another scan almost immediately afterwards for B26. Theoretically, the B block carrier should propagate slightly better since it's on a slightly lower frequency, but the difference is negligible on paper and should not be noticed in the real-world. If it is, then the site is misconfigured.

In areas where this is a problem, how does a tri-band device behave if it's set to LTE-only mode? Is the B25-to-B26 handoff still broken to the point that it'll lose connection entirely for a minute once B25 is lost until it does another scan and picks up B26? Does the reverse B26-to-B25 handoff, or B26-to-B41, work correctly in these areas?

Here's an example: right now from my couch, pcs-G is at -97dbm, pcs-B is at -92dbm, and band 26 is at -85dbm. I always see B being higher than G daily. And with a signal -12dbm better than band 25, could that indicate my local site is optimized?

  9. Are any of our S4GRU New York'ers going to be in Times Square tonight? If there's a place and time in this country to test a cellular network under extreme stress, it has to be there at 12:00am. I'd be curious to know how well a mature Sprint network can handle 1) making a phone call 2) sending a sms, and 3) a speedtest.
