Everyone missed that pick to one degree or another, but definitely was the craziest game finish.
I took a chance on Texas Tech over Ok State and was looking pretty good until the last quarter or so.
Georgia Tech losing to Virginia after pulling the upset over FSU in addition to the Duke/Miami outcome just goes to show how hard it is to gauge the ACC in general. And given Clemson always seems to find a way to lose a game or two when you're thinking they're finally a juggernaut otherwise, it wouldn't surprise me to see FSU upset them next week. It's basically down to that game and the Gamecock instate rivalry game to end the season left, plus whatever their conference championship matchup would be at that point.

Week 9's slate of picks starts with a single Friday night game with a little earlier start, so heads up folks - 7pm EDT / 4pm PDT, East Carolina @ Connecticut. Juggernaut of a matchup there...

Only one Friday night game on this week's game slate: Memphis at Tulsa at 8pm EDT/5 PDT. Everyone remember to get your picks in again!

Excellent feedback AJ, exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping to see. I like your take too, and there's really both sides of the proverbial coin to consider I suppose.
That's why I was referencing the assumption of accounting for the current monthly allotment. I know whatever usage occurs carries a hefty cost, but if the usage is already assumed a given going in in terms of the financials, this line of thought seems more plausible. If it is not and they furthermore just hope and pray that the lower bar they've set now acts as a deterrent from roaming usage, this is probably more likely a moot point.
-
Sorry for the typos in the above btw - a rare post via mobile for me
-
Good: 3 GB mobile hotspot is included
Bad: Off-network roaming is limited to 100MB
Here's a thought I just had regarding roaming quotas - and I'm basically just throwing this out for discussion and will appreciate particularly the input of both the resident elder S4GRU statesmen as well as the Sprint employees past and present who post here: if a customer is allowed 100MB per month of service and with the assumption (and I stress that word here because I have no clue if this is the cade) that the financial/accounting side of things already assumes the cost involved exists given the policy, then would it be at all feasible for Sprint to allow an 'over time' implementation, or 'banking' of that allowance over a reasonable period? I'm thinking say 3 months minimum, to perhaps 6 months max.
The issue to me is that, in most cases the average user would hit roaming maybe 1-2 times a year on vacation or such, and 100MB when you hit the wrong place/wrong time could be easily surpassed even for relatively conservative data users. Allowing a sort of moving banked window of accrued roaming data would be in and of itself a sort of 'uncarrierish' perk potentially if Sprint implemented the idea first especially.
Again, I have no idea if it would be feasible or realistic, but it was an idea of compromise that came to me. Just tosding out for discussion.

You dropped the ball. You're late again, MalzahnFanTN. I've never been so mad at anyone in my life.
AJ
Shouldn't that be 'GuschampFanTN'? That's the Captain Planetesque 'by-your-powers-combined' moniker being thrown around these days anyway for the dynamic duo down on the Crappiest Village on the Plains.

Sorry for the late prompt again, but there are actually **3** Friday night games on the slate for this week! First one starts at 8pm EDT/5pm PDT, the other 2 at 9pm/6pm. So, at the very least, take care of those 3 picks and come back before Saturday at noon to make the rest!
(before someone responds with a surprised interjection to the above - yes, you can submit an incomplete pick/confidence point list and come back to finish later - for those that hadn't figured that out yet )

Is that the obvious smoker who is a woman but sounds like a man and calls Colin Cowherd "cow turd"? I believe I have heard him/her live on sports talk radio.
AJ
Yep, that would be her. I believe it was this call that made her (in)famous on a more national scale (mainly due to Cowherd):

You do realize that you no longer have to do that, right? You have moved out of the South. If you stop, Paul Finebaum will not hunt you down for treason against the SEC, first, the South, second.
AJ
No one would ever be fearful of Paul Finebaum. Phyllis from Mulga however might be a different story.
In all seriousness, being from the south aside, I am definitely not a fan of that show....Finebaum's actual serious sports interviews/guests can be interesting, but I'd find watching a repeating loop of people running their fingernails down a chalkboard more entertaining than the nutcase caller-driven angle of that show.

I have 2 groups counting this one (with 2 separate slates of picks - the other I've done with Bama fan friends for years and we have all SEC games in addition to the regular slate for that), and Thursday night is always pick night for me. I spend a fair amount of time trying to review the latest info like injuries, record to date, NCAA stats, other opinions and the like before making final decisions and trying to work out my confidence point assignments, but I never go to bed without the picks completed on Thursday nights.

This week's slate of games has one Friday night game starting at 8pm EDT/5pm PDT...NC State at Virginia Tech. So fair warning for you slackers (*cough*Robert*cough*) who have missed the first few picks a time or three, this heads up is directed at you - get your picks in now while you can!

For those playing, this week's slate of picks has no Friday night games....so get your picks in before noon EDT/11am CDT/9am PDT Saturday.

Sorry guys, I forgot to remind earlier in the week this week about picks - there are 3 people (aside from the 2 who haven't yet logged a pick anyway after signing up) who didn't get their picks in before the first game that started at 8 EDT:
Mrs. S4GRU

Greenbastard
If you miss the 2nd game tonight as well (yes, there are 2 Friday night games this week!), just adjust your confidence points for the rest of the games for tomorrow such that you skip 1 and 2 to maximize your point potential still for the week.

No, it is actually Blue Ball. No kidding.
But is ice cream on your mind?
AJ
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Bell,_Pennsylvania
If there's a Blue Ball, PA too, I haven't heard of it prior to now, but Blue Bell is real (aside from the ice cream).

What about Intercourse, Paradise, and Blue Ball?
AJ
Ha, Blue Bell, but I see what you did there. I actually know a couple who lives in Paradise.
-
To lordsutch: in the interest of sportsmanship and, in spite of it being a frustrating and heart-wrenching experience for me, behaving with class - which as I'm sure you're aware isn't a given particularly within the realm of the SEC - congratulations, your guys played a heck of a game last night.

The LSU game cancellation is going to kinda suck for everyone who assigned a higher point value to it.
Aside from the BYU hail mary (I won't call it a miracle) win, biggest surprise of the day is a tie between the Stanford and Penn State upsets. Different contexts for both and not surprised by the actual upset occurring in either case, but very surprised by the margin in each case, especially PSU/Temple with all the Hackenburg talk coming in and the fact he was sacked 10 times in the game.

Looking at new Routers...Suggestions?
in General Topics
Posted
I recently got the step up from bmoses' TP-Link router, the Archer C8, and have really been extremely pleased with it. Powerful signal, has 3 antennae, can do IP reservations and bandwidth control easily - actually has the best interface for a home router by far I've worked with (mind you, I've never tried DD-WRT that I frequently read about so take my UI comments with a grain of salt if you're a power user type who usually goes that route). I highly recommend it based on my 3 months of usage thus far.
