  1. ok well you may need to help this back hills boy...

i have 3 S3s in the house and have been waiting like a mad man hoping you would do it....

sooooo  the question is...(and yes i understand it may be a dumb question, but if you dont know the answer, then it isnt a dumb question, right?)

They all are upgraded to the 4.3 version......so do i need to go do the root road, that i did on the note 2????

Like the instructions says, you must be on 4.3, rooted, and have a custom recovery installed like TWRP. Once you're squared away there, you'll download the ROM onto each device, boot to the custom recovery, flash the ZIP file within recovery (Install > Locate/Select .zip you downloaded > Swipe to Confirm Flash), and once that's done, then reboot the device. All done.

  2. Can someone explain why my galaxy note 2 reconnect to cell tower after hanging up a call? The phone was connected to airave 2.5 plus before the call, and during the call (according to the signal strength), but immediately reconnects to cell tower after the call. It will take a while for it to reconnect to airave.

What PRL are you using? If you're using a custom one, I find that it does exactly as you mentioned with my Airave 2.5.

  3. Just took a look at my N5 and mine has that yellowish tint too. I actually don't mind it really since I use a program called Lux that turns my screen yellowish (warm). I can understand that others might not like it and rather have their screen display more natural (cool) colors.

  4. One thing I've noticed is that the screen on low brightness tends to have a yellow tinge to it. Anyone else notice this? I normally keep my phone on low brightness so its very noticeable for me coming from the HTC One.

Looks like you got one of the newer, revised models:

    ...

Shinral also noted that the newer revision's display has more of a yellow tint, though it's unclear whether or not LG is using a completely different display moving forward or if the particular unit in question just happened to be slightly unbalanced compared to other models.

  5. I have a question. Since updating to 4.3, is there anyway of stopping widgets from showing up on lock screen? Same goes for text messages being received. It's very annoying. An example is in dropbox link. Help is much appreciated.

I don't see any options within the lock screen settings to disable it. I ended up installing a replacement lock screen app from the Play Store. It's fine, but I use a live wallpaper, and rather look at that instead of the wallpaper selection that I'm given. :(

  6. Thank you!  It does appear to work.  Also, it rescans for 800 SMR also when you go back to regular mode!

I can confirm new roam control works for the note 2. I set the phone manufacturer to the s4 and when I roam and go back to auto it connects to 800 smr!! Too bad note 2 don't have triband

Are you both running 4.3 (MK4) or something older?

  7. If you got the update over the air, do not use Odin to go back to the old version. It will trip a flag in the KNOX bootloader and cause problems for later software updates or possibly a no boot or reboot loop condition.

Heh, I did that last night since my root got all messed up for some reason, so I figured I'd go back to MC2 from MK4. I thought I could go back, but nope... I realize that now after doing a bit of research.

Anyway, ended up soft bricking my Note 2 after receiving a fail message within Odin. Tried rebooting afterwards and it wouldn't even light up. Only download mode worked and had to use Kies to get back up and running. If Knox is going to be the norm of Samsung, then this is my last device from them.

  8. Huh... I reported in the Nexus 5 forum that a new version of Roam Control was recently released and added N5 support. It looks as though it may have quietly (ie. FINALLY) added Note 2 support as well. I tried messing around with the different options and it works under the Samsung GS4 option under phone manufacture. I haven't tested on older versions other the newest that was just released (4.3-MK4).

  9. Huh... Just got an notification from Roam Control that they finally updated their app. Was hoping they would get around to adding Note 2 support, but instead added support for the Nexus 5. Can't wait to try it out. :tu:

  10. I walked into my local sprint store with nexus 5 still in box. Handed it to the rep and said hi, please activate this for me. They popped in a sim and a few minutes later I left with a working phone.

A few things that might help. Go to a real sprint store, not an authorized reseller. Also the sprint store by me is one of their repair centers. If nothing else start calling all the stores in your area.

That's pretty much my experience other than the rep trying to sell me everything that they sell (speakers, tablets, other phones, you name it)!  What should have been a few minutes took nearly 30 minutes.  He just wouldn't quit it! -_-

  11. Yeah, all that KNOX garbage, running mismatched bootloaders, wifi patches needed, etc has made me back off for a while until it is figured out by the devs there.  Not sure if I'll get to update the ROM to the latest as the Note2 will be going to the wife soon.  So I won't have a spare device to mess with as she wants the stock experience.

Would you consider at least making the TXT file list of the apps (ie. bloatware) you would have removed from the ROM if you were making the latest version of the digiROM?

  12. I bought a couple nokia dt-900 chargers, and was disappointed to discover that these chargers use PROPRIETARY charger bricks and cables.

you can NOT use standard micro-usb cables or bricks with this charger pad.

I had planned to keep one at work and one in my car (via lighter usb charger), but that plan is wacked now.

Good to know. Was about ready to order some since I just got my N5, but with that bit of info, I'll hold off for now.

  13. Sounds weird that someone else said the older one works when flashed via recovery.

    Yup, that person was me.

Rooted, tried copying it manually, but nothing comes up when I put in ##DATA#. Put original back, comes up fine. Any ideas? Maybe it needs to be updated somehow? Work your magic :)

Fixed permissions also, unless this one requires special that the old one didn't have.

You need to flash version MA7 within recovery. The other versions won't work... I tried.

  14. Well, I finally decided to bite the bullet and get a Note 3, since it seems like all the issues have been worked out. I know it's not tri-band, but I'll have a new phone within a year, more than likely, and will be able to get one, then. I must say I had missed the larger screen of my Note 2, and the screen on the Note 3 is beautiful. Unfortunately, it is overcast, so far here, today, so I don't yet know how it will look in sunlight. From what I've seen, though, it is definitely better than the Note 2 or S4. It is taking forever to get everything back to how it was, before, though. And, I had a problem with LTE not working. I don't get why it is so hard to switch devices on their site. It seems like I always have to chat or call, and can't use the online process, myself. Once I realized LTE wasn't working, it was very late. So, when I chatted, this morning, they eventually had me call in and the rep was extremely helpful, although it was kind of obvious, and I should have thought to do this: he had me swap the SIM.

I do have two questions for anyone who might have answers, though. First, is it a Bad Thing™ that the SIM cards are not matched up with the phones they originally were shipped with? And, why would the online page not work to swap in a Note 3 for an S4? I understand going from a feature phone to a smartphone, or a blackberry to an android, requiring a rep to do the swap, but from an S4 to a Note 3 seems perfectly straightforward.

    Thanks!

I spoke with a Sprint rep about SIM swapping last night, since I got my Nexus 5 and Sprint SIM yesterday, so I hope this answers your question... He basically told me that the SIM has to be associated with the device for it to work properly. When you swap your SIM to a new device, it must be associated once again or it doesn't work. He said that Sprint is not like ATT/T-Mobile where you can swap SIM's and it just works.

As for, is it a "bad thing"... No it's not... They don't care as long as service is active and your bill is paid. ;) These SIM's can be reactivated and moved around all over... At least that's what the Sprint rep said.

  15. digi stares at his Note2 under the bright light that has had no screen protector for a year... He's still looking for those scratches.

Gorilla glass does the job! Awesome stuff.

Hah! I just received my Nexus 5 this morning and first thing I did was order 2 screen protectors and a case. :P

I also can't help think that if I hadn't put a screen protector on my Note 2, there would be scratches on the screen, since I see small scratches on the screen protector when I shine a bright light on it. I understand that Gorilla glass is tough stuff, but I'm not sure I feel comfortable leaving it exposed, especially if I were to drop my phone on concrete, and it lands face down.

  16. That's what I am using. I do see an unable to verify signature red line in recovery. Also, you have removed KNOX already, right? I haven't.

Yup, no more Knox. I was reading the changelog for today's release of SuperSU, and it looks like they figured a way to suppress those annoying messages from Knox. Personally, I'm not going to put back Knox to see if it does work as it says, but it's nice to know that there is something for someone who might not feel comfortable in deleting system files.

  17. I'm not seeing the PRL write function after flashing the unhide ZIP. Hmm.

Which one did you flash? I did version MA7 and it worked for me. If you flash anything older than that, then yah, it probably won't work.

  18.

Those are patches... imgdiff's between the two files.  You would have needed to backup before you wrote it.

    Well, that's just great... I don't have a backup. :P
Now my Changelog Droid app is notifying me that there is an update for HiddenMenu.apk. -.-
