  1. Man there is not a solid base out there. Sheesh! I really didn't want to start from the bottom.

I pulled a copy of my ota zip (around 450MB ), so not sure if that can be of use? Or are you waiting for Samsung to release the 1GB+ sized zip that they should have already released ages ago, but still haven't? ;)

  2. Got my stock 4.4.3 kitkat . Not impress that much at all.

Samsung already posted an update to their update? ;)

Still wondering if you can go back to 4.3 after flashing the KK update.

  3. Can I still get the update even tho the phone is not active on my acct but using Wi-Fi?

I don't see why not.  I recently got my Nexus 5 update and it wasn't activated either.  Other option is Kies if you want to install that on your computer.

  4. Heh, I wonder if this update includes Knox 2.0 and an updated bootloader?  I fell for 4.3 and got my bootloader updated so I can't go back.  I think I'll stick with Omni until I hear confirmation on these things.  :nono:

  5. I switched to OmniRom weeks ago and I get superb battery life, plus I don't get the bloat that Samsung puts into their ROMs. I miss the ability to update my PRL, but other than that, it runs well, very stable, and no TouchWiz to contend with. :tu:

  6. So I understand that on android you can set up more than one user account and have one for guests etc. I can't seem to find that on this phone. Is that feature still around? thanks! :)

This feature is now possible if you're rooted and have Xposed Framework installed. Just install the module, enable it within Xposed Framework, and reboot device.

A new Users menu will be added to your Settings menu. I've tested this and it works as it should.

  8. I'm shocked to see the Galaxy Note 10.1 on the list. I thought Samsung had all but abandoned it. They've promised 4.3 in the past, but it's still stuck on 4.1.2. I wish there was some sort of specific timeline for when these updates could be making their way out other than "beginning today and continuing throughout the coming months"... I was thinking of selling my Note 10.1 and getting a Nexus 10 since the Nexus line gets updates almost instantly. I would miss the S-Pen features though.

  9. Is there a way to set data so when you turn the screen off the mobile data goes off, a old droid x2 I had done that and loved it. Just wonder can the g2 do the same with out root and etc

Should be able to accomplish this with Tasker($3).

Just create a "Mobile Data On" and "Mobile Data Off" task (under Tasks tab) and create a "Display On" and "Display Off" event (under Profiles tab). While you're setting up your Profiles, it'll ask which task you want to use, just pick the task that coincides with what you're setting up. No root needed.

  10. I'm testing out the 4.3 update for the EVO LTE and when I tried to reset connections today using the button, I got message saying it needs root access in 4.2+ ?? Not sure what that means?

It means you need to be rooted to use that function. Ever since Android 4.2+, the Reset Connection feature no longer works the same as it did before.

  11. This is why im ditching samsung. Nexus here i come

They all have their trade offs. enjoy the sealed battery, no SD card, and lesser camera quality. for me, those are worth sticking it out with samsung. There's nothing magical with these android upgrades anymore, not like the days of yore where an update meant a new maps version and feature. Most features have become decoupled from the OS itself, in stand alone apps. The software optimizations generally don't affect phones with too much power like the S4. So all in all, 4.3 or 4.4.2, its all about the same. however, I am wanting for better/native MAP support through bluetooth in 4.4 :) Sammy has always baked it in, but its half assed.

I'm tired off this lag on the phone. I like the features but since I turned of animation lags less. But randomly hit back or home button it takes 3 seconds for home screen to load. To much bloat ware. I'm waiting on nexus 5 2014 edition

I think too it's time to jump ship from Samsung. I'll definitely miss the SD Card slot, removable battery (though now I use my own personal cloud storage and have an external battery to recharge my "sealed" phone) and screen size, I really can't ignore Knox being on my GN2 and it being on all future Samsung devices. Knox screams anti-consumer when it was their customers that got them to where they are today. I can't believe a company that embraced rooting to turn around and lock everyone down with the 4.3 update. To me, if they are going to make it an obstacle to root, they obviously don't want me to do it, so I'll move on to my Nexus 5 soon.

  12. You must have lucked out, as well. My GN2 has never been able to make/receive calls or send/receive texts while on 1X800, only on 1900. :(

    Oh really? :/

I've been experimenting with 1X800 to see if it'll be more reliable than my Airave. 1900 has never really worked here so if 800 is stable enough, I might send it back to Sprint.

  13. You can make and receive calls on 1X 800 and the call stays on 800? If so, you may have one of the GN2's that doesn't seem effected. My GN2 would not work on 800. It would connect and sit on the channel. But SMS and voice calls would not work. If the 800 signal was weak enough, it would drop me over to 1900 to make an out going call.

Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro

I just recently started using custom PRL's again, and it seems that the 1X 800 is okay where I am. I haven't noticed any issues with it on my GN2 and it seems to hold on to the signal and not fall to 1900.

  14. Well,

The bump up to 4.3 was a success as was installing Philz recovery.

The issue is that when I get into recovery and try installing digiROM I get an error.

I have tried installing from both sdcard and sdcard1. Same error. I've downloaded a couple of times and the MD5 matches.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Skid

Edit: Not sure it matters but I cannot figure out how to enable developer options, and turn usb debugging on.

To enable Developer Options, go to System Settings > More... > About Device: Keep tapping on the build number until it says you're a developer. Once it does, go back one screen and you'll see developer options. Go in there and enable USB debugging.

Also try TWRP if Philz recovery doesn't work for you.

  15. My wifes phone has band 41 and 26 enabled would that mean it would receive spark capabilities

Nope. The Note 3 would have to have a hardware revision like the GS4 got. The options may be in there, but it won't do squat.
