  1. I don't think they will let you keep both the airave and the router. They told me I had to pick one or the other when I called in yesterday. It's always worth a try though.

I would probably take the router, the Airave is driving me crazy with all the troubleshooting. And can rationalize, even if the G2 doesn't get WiFi calling it's more important for the wife to have service at home since she is home more than I am... who am I kidding I just like new toys
  2. It would as long as all of your phones are wifi calling capable.

    Sent from my Note 4.

Can anyone who has tried both comment on is WiFi calling better than airave-assisted calls for home use? I have the G2 with no WiFi calling but maybe this would be an improvement for my wife on the iPhone. Also am I correct I could get the router and then disable router on my cable company's modem gateway, so I could put the Airave in front of the router?
  3. I am loving the update. On the grola aka simple ROM I was running before, lock screen notifications, including media player controls, were not expandable, but on this official update they work properly (i.e. just like aosp). Plus I can put in a custom lock screen wallpaper. Such a relief!

  4. I sideloaded the update and it is awesome. The main complaint I had on the grola ROM, which was a messy port from the Korean release, was that you couldn't expand the lockscreen notifications. But it turns out the official release is a little different and this is fixed. A welcome surprise for sure.

Once the update starts going out I'm sure someone will release an update zip file on xda.

I'm on the "Grola" ROM, I will have to figure out how to do a total revert using the lg flash tool...

  6. I think I had read the ideal way is to run an ethernet cable from your main router to the secondary one which you will connect as an access point. AJ can you comment on wired vs wireless for the second access point? Are you sacrificing anything noticeable if you don't run a cable?

  7. Thanks to everyone for shedding some light on the RDF update to 5.0.2. It's good to know Sprint finally has it and working on it.

    * At this point what's the probable drop date for OTA from Sprint. Nothing concrete just a estimate. Best guess...

Looking around old Samsung threads people were saying OTA a week or two after the RDF. Although of course it's possible with a major release like this it could be longer...

... The rest of the phones are just too big...

This was my feeling as well-- in fact I was reluctant to move off of the Optimus G because I felt even the G2 was too large. But now having a G2 and using it for a while, I am loving the curves (using a case by speck which is great) and also I have realized everything about android is designed for this size of a screen and text is much more readable at arm's length now, videos are much larger as they can fill the whole screen etc. Great phone, great size. I guess next year I'll "discover" that the Note 4 is the perfect size...

  9. Just wanted to update, I did pick up a G2. I can report Band 26 is active and fills in many coverage gaps in the neighborhoods south of uptown, north of rt 51. I also saw Band 41 on Independence Blvd near I 277, and got a speed test in with an impressive 27 Mbps down.

However, uptown towers do appear to still be Band 25 only and brutally slow. I have verified this with a coworker who is on the G3.

Mostly I am happy we are seeing LTE 800 as I know North Carolina had some regulatory delays with that. Looks like we are in the home stretch now.

  10. if your going to go the cm12 rout, i would actually skip the G2

CM12 is very buggy as of now ... I think the most stable AOSP on LS989 (Sprint variant) is probably AICP KitKat.

Thanks! This is good info. I am not too worried about the software, pretty sure I will be able to mod in a way that is workable for me. Mostly just looking to see opinions on if the radio performance made a large enough leap between 1st gen tri-band and the 2014 crop of phones that I should avoid the G2. Because in terms of specs, form factor, battery size etc it seems pretty much ideal.

  11.

you should seriously consider buying it off contract

No doubt, I am on the family share pack plan & only looking at used off contract. These are going under 200 on swappa and often even less on craigslist

  12. I use an Optimus G and considering getting a G2 because it is the most compact sized tri-band phone.

Do G2 users feel the radio performance is not up to par with newer phones? Or still a good buy? I would prefer G2 for 1) size and 2) cost. Also I like this case:tetded-premium-leather-case-for-lg-g2-d8http://www.tetded.com/home/en/g2/1758-tetded-premium-leather-case-for-lg-g2-d802-d802ta-d803-caen-vintage-brown.html
Note: probably will root and flash cm12 as that's what I'm doing on the OG
