  1. i was at a mets game recently and my phone stuck to Clear B41. Speeds were sub 1mbps. Forced my phone to 3G and speeds were even worse. The wifi there is amazing tho, hit 20mbps before the game started. I also put in my tmobile sim and speeds were alittle better on both HSPA and LTE

  2. Is anyone familiar with the Loxahatchee area? I get horrible data service out here. I am unfortunately looking at going to Verizon since they get LTE in my area. I truly prefer to stay with sprint but 3G in 80% of the area out here is getting old. I wonder if this new network vision will make it better out here?

The further west you go from the coast the less dense the towers are which is a problem since the area and population has increased over the past 10 years. The amount of towers has most likely remained the same.

You can look at the NV Update maps if you make a donation. Its well worth it,

  3. Will the update only download over wifi? I cleared the data for the google process and now its been "waiting to download" for the last 30 mins. Im at work and have wifi but I believe the filter is blocking the download.

edit: I reset it again and now its says my phone is up to date. I hate delayed rollouts.

edit 2: i would side load it but i only have a iMac.

  4. Noticed a new site in the middle of the turnpike in West Palm Beach, Florida. This used to be a Nextel only site.

Signal Check PRO had the BLS at the point marked above and in the sponsor section this location is a Nextel site

I think my phone would only connect to 800 and eHRPD at the same time. It might of connected to 1xRTT but I don't remember. Data was unusable but I could make calls on 800.

This tower has slightly improved the signal in Wellington FL area but another tower might be needed. Maybe once this current tower is fully updated it will be enough. Hopefully it won't take long.

Edit: I can never get links to work correctly on here.

  5. very cool, never heard of an omni directional antenna for a cell service.  wish sprint would install these near this area. alot of gaps in coverage due to site being far apart which is due to all the villages having very strict law for towers. its a very wealth area.

  6. Looks like some sort of antenna, but i have no clue. i always see small antennas and things on towers or rooftops and I know they are for security systems, fire, police, and public safety. But this things looks much different.

here is the location on a map, you can see it on street view.

  7. I'm really hoping once B26 is optimized at the towers by my work that I can get a signal at my desk. Currently if i roll my chair 10 feet back I pick up B26. Its super week though like -112 to -117. When i go back to my desk it drops off. Phone wont even find B25.

My 3G signal is between -101 through -107 so I'm hoping once B26 is at full power and optimized it will be stronger than 3G.

  8. Just spent a few days in wellington/west palm area. Was also in boca and miami. The speeds down in florida make me want to move there. The weather would be a bonus.

Only issue I had was poor signal in and around the Olympia in Wellington. There is 1 site that is still only 3G and its was incredible slow if it even let me do anything. Sometimes I would connect to a surrounding LTE tower with B26 but it was even slower and unreliable than 3G. This caused my battery to drain very quickly. Had charge my G2 at least twice every day.  Found myself keeping my phone on CDMA only mode when in the area to save battery.

B41 was amazing in West palm area. Last night at the airport I pulled 30 Mbps Down and 12 Up. The terminal was packed with many delayed flight, could only imagine faster speeds if it was empty. My fast speed test on my trip was 49 Mbps. When inside anywhere B26 was reliable but wouldn't break 12 Mbps.

Even though B26 hasn't be optimized it was very reliable.

B25/26 in Boca was amazing 12-18 Mbps

B41 in Miami was also very fast. Falling back on B25/26 was sub 10 Mbps

Markets like this really give me hope for sprint else where and made my trip a lot more convenient.

EDIT: When I made a call in and around the olympia I would connect to 800SRM, and the singnal was strong. Give me hope for when the 3G tower broadcasts B25 and especially B26. But I still think that area needs another tower

  9. Anyone know how much Sprint would charge to fix a cracked screen or replace it without insurance vs LG. Corner of my screen cracked from pressure in my pocket and now the whole screen is unusable.

  10. Got a few questions. I'm heading into the Manhattan today with my G2

    1. Does the stock phone support Spark by default? Sprints Website says that it is coming soon via update.

(update: I went into ##3282# after getting my MSL and I went into LTE and enabled the other bands. it is all i needed to do or do i need to change the priority. Now band 25 is 1st, band 26 is 2nd and band 41 is 3rd. I know this can't be right but i've read changing this can screw up the phone)

    2. If it doesn't what are the necessary steps to get it working?

    3. This is probably best for a another thread but anyone know best place to test for spark?

  11. 3G ended up coming back after a few days with even strong signal then i had ever had. Reaching .8-1.3mbps during peak hours and up to 2.42mbps at late hours of the night. But Tuesday night I noticed 3G not working again. I checked the Field Test Screen on my iphone and under 1xEV-DO it wasn't even idle like it would be normally but all fields blank. Called sprint and they obviously had me reset the PRL know it would fail I still played along. After failing the tech check the towers and realized there was a ticket on it and that they network tech had blocked EV-DO from connecting. So for all those people complaining about 4G being blocked I have 3G being blocked now lol. oh and she told me the back on air date was june 8th at 12:36 CMT. What a random time for field techs to put lol

  12. OP, Have you travelled away from this area where you are experiencing the lack of 3g? Its not impossible that the two sites you mention have problems, but travelling elsewhere would answer the phone vs network question. If you go elsewhere and the issues replicate, it could be an account provisioning problem.. its been years since ive heard of this, but something on sprints end use to occasionally go awry and cause issues similar to this

Yeah I have and both sites I listed are bad. I haven't been able to do any thing data related. Where I normally have 4 or 5 bars I know have 1 - 2. And at times it switching to Extended 1x. They called me back monday and said they should be fixed by Tuesday 3pm. I think I might drive to the tower to see if it something they had to physically fix and talk to the techs.

  13. Have you tried resetting the network settings? (settings/ general/ reset/ reset network settings) Was told by a Sprint tech that this should be done right before updating the PRL.

Yeah thats when the problems got worse. Now I can't even update the PRL. And even though it say I have 3G or 1X if I try to use Safari it says "Could not activate celluar data network. You are not subscribed to a cellualr data service" I keep reseting the network setting but no difference.

  14. Past 2 days I haven't had a 3G signal. I have an iphone 4s and it keeps showing the small circle for 1x. A few hours ago I decided to call sprint. Knowing what they would have me do I decided to run thru it all before I called. This inclueded powering off and on the phone and updateding the PRL with ##update#. Once connected to a person I let them know that I had done all of that but they had me do it again. Keep in mind this is happening to all 3 phones on the account so there is no way its a phone problem and is obviously the network. Finally she had me reset the network setting and then update the PRL again. this time it failed and keeps on failing. She then decide to make a network ticket and since mondays a holiday I won't hear back for a few days. But since the call I have gone other places and can not connect to the internet because celluar data is not activated since she had me update the PRL and it still keeps failing.

I am located in Oceanside NY 11572, is anyone else having issues around there? My tower is either on of theses NY07XC706 or NY27XC333.

  15. Where I go to school they have a 500mbps fiber line for the entire school. Each buidling is limited 100mbps. These results are typical all day long. I've been looking for some one who could beat these results for awhile.

    1927281599.png

When I go home I'm stuck with 15mbps up and 2mbps down which sucks after having speeds over 5 times faster. But after reading some of max speeds people can get at their homes I guess I'm fine. Especially since i can get 101mbps and 15mbps from my ISP and FIOS is also available.

I don't see a point of having more then 5 mbps on any wireless device unless your using its being teathered to a computer or being used as wifi hotspot

  16. Which number is the ID of the cell tower I'm connected to? None of the numbers seem to match any of the numbers of the towers I'm near according to the maps in the sponsor forum. Is that number not on those maps?

  17. I know sprint is waiting for FCC aproval to use the 800MHz smr spectrum from nextel for LTE. Do they need approval to start using it for 800MHz ESMR Voice or has it already/always been allowed?

I can't seem to find a map of the 800MHz SMR spectrum Sprint owns on the FCCs site and specmap.sequence-omega.net say it has trouble downloading that data from FCCs site. Is this band nation wide like the G block of the PCS band Sprint has?

  18. I had been getting similar speeds where i go to school in Oneonta NY for a few month until a few weeks ago I noticed a major slow down back to where it had been before around .2-.4Mbps download and .01-.20Mbps upload. I contacted sprint and they said one of the towers in my area were "under review for a possibly capacity augment" is that just what the network upgrade map is on the sprint site
