  1. There are two issues I just noticed, one good, and one not so good. First, the good. I was going to post something here in this thread the other day, but decided not to. So, I closed out the site window completely, figuring that would be it with that post I decided not to submit. So, I noticed the bad issue over in the Verizon eliminating coverage in Maine thread, and when I went here to report it to this thread, I noticed my post I decided not to submit showing up in the message type box. Excellent! So no more lost posts, due to some click error, etc. The new IPBoard saves what you type so you don't lose it, ever. Now to the not so good. I swear I'm not adding meaningless, useless lines of blank space to my posts, but when I posted in the other thread, it turns out looking as though I'm adding blank space under my posts, whereas others' posts end right after the message. Edit Note : Its here too. I've made sure the typeline ends at the last period, but its still leaving a bunch of added space.
  2. Wow! I could see this happening if it were landline service Verizon was dumping, but wireless service? Is this what Verizon is going to do next where if they aren't making enough money in an area, they just decide to drop coverage, regardless of other issues, such as who may travel through the area, or what other carriers might say about this to tease and taunt Verizon over this? This is one issue I'd actually love to hear John Legere's reaction too, and Marcelo's as well. I'll go look at their Twitter accounts.

    LG V30

I very much agree with this. I don't remember the phone brand/model at the moment, but there was one in the past that used a wide-angle lens camera that also was capable of switching into regular mode without having a secondary camera. I'd think companies ought to be looking more into integrating this technology into one camera, then standardize it with their normal models, while for premium models they could add a secondary camera that does monochrome for helping with low-light imaging.
  4. There is one particular problem I've noticed with the site upgrade, and I'm not sure if enabling this option needs to be done in user cp or admin cp, but the forum is missing its automatic placeholder feature. On the forum before the update, when I clicked on a thread, it would automatically take me to the last read post/first new unread post. Now its not doing that, at least not for me. I really miss that feature.
  5. I suppose its helpful in that way, of course. Granted, I doubt anyone on S4GRU would use the name change feature irresponsibly, but I've been on forums where the option caused a huge problem for both staff and other members. There are worse things, of course. A Woltlab Burning Board update caused my friend's site a vulnerability where banned members were automatically unbanned and even some serious admincp issues that were a huge issue.
  6. One thing I noticed in the user settings was an option to change user display names. I know I'm not changing mine, but wasn't sure if the option was meant to be there or just something that eventually needs to be dealt with. Upgrading settings on a new forum software, or major forum updates is a lot of work. I've been through it many times running forums in the past, and that was over five years ago before forums added so much additional functionality. It seems the only thing that has become simpler during this time is the design features that have template generators, etc. Personally, I'm not sure what I think about this upgrade, though in my opinion it still looks better than Xenforo. I don't like the message spacing here when paragraph typing though. It looks like there is too much space when I try to create a paragraph.
  7. Robert, I'd be glad to help on any of the design features. I've mentioned it in the past to you when you didn't need anything done, though I'd be glad to help now, if needbe.
  8. Can anyone tell what Gunther's shirt says on it, or its design? I can't really see it that well, other than it definitely isn't plain. Edit Note : Not the Sprint shirt in the photo of him at the top of the page. I'm referring to the photo of him talking with the businessmen.
  9. My advice to you, Dan, is to also at least consider the Pixel XL 2, which is being made by LG. It likely will have an OLED, may also feature waterproofing and the SD836. It also will have Android Oreo at launch, unlike the V30, and of course will have 600mhz capability. The only positive advantage I see the V30 having right now is the headphone jack with built-in quad dac with MQA capability. However, there is a very good MQA-capable portable dac on the market currently, which is made by the company that invented MQA itself, Meridian, with its Explorer2 dac. I have it, and its sound quality is superior to the Quad dac by ESS. The only thing that still has me considering the V30 at all, is the uncertainty of waterproofing in the new Pixels, along with my interest in the new equalizer functions the V30 has. My new phone absolutely requires waterproofing, so I'm going to wait on the V30 until there is official word concerning this.
  10. I completely agree. I don''t understand why Samsung decided to do this, whereas a few other manufacturers are having 600mhz available in theirs. I really do not like this technology-skimping business model in favor of temporary profits, meaning the way of business to squeeze every penny out of an existing outdated product, delaying the release of a much better money-making product in favor of profiting more from older existing products with sales deals marketing, etc. Yes I understand businesses need to clear out inventory and make money in the process, etc. Yet there ought to be a focus on the betterment of technology, which shouldn't be held back. This existing product approach currently is being used by nVidia, and its stalling out on Volta is absolutely infuriating! So, the neglect of adding useful technology onto something is a similar frustration, especially when it involves ignoring future technology into something that exists today, which Samsung could very well be doing to get people to buy the Note, then turn around and buy their 600mhz-capable Springtime big release, which I expect to be a convergence of the S-series and the Note.
  11. Its made a difficult decision for me between the V30 and the Pixel XL2. As of the moment though, I'm leaning towards the Pixel XL2, which if its confirmed to have waterproofing, it'll win me over to it. Already the possibility of having the SD836 and definitely having Oreo are the main reasons for me. I figure it'll have Aqstic audio, which is fine by me for the Pixel XL2 not to have a dedicated dac, but I really like the enhanced equalizer on the V30bthat may or may not be on the Pixel XL2. Otherwise, Oreo is such a vast improvement over Nougat and the fast, regular updates sure are a major advantage too. Hopefully there isn't a carrier deal with the new Pixels this year, unless they are sold by all of them. Also, perhaps having two manufacturers this year, one for each Pixel model, will help improve availability.
  12. My guess is if the Pixel gets the SD836, that will have 600mhz support.
  13. According to ArsTechnica, the display on the LG V30 has issues : https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/09/lg-v30-hands-on-lgs-oled-displays-still-have-quality-issues/ Personally, I think Ars was given a preproduction unit that was not up to par. I seriously doubt there will be any flaw in the final actual for sale units.

    LG V30

Appears Sprint is going to have the V30+ https://9to5google.com/2017/09/01/lg-v30-plus-coming-to-sprint/ I'm very undecided between getting this and the PixelXL2. Android Oreo is a big advantage, but so is having the audio features with the Quad Dac.
  15. If this were professional wresting, I'd expect interference from the T-Mobile executives from Degeneration T, until crows start cawing and out appears Guenther wearing a Black and Yellow trenchcoat and a shirt with "SWO" and "Sprint World Order" printed on it, carrying with him a baseball bat with a huge tag on it, labeled "$9.99" and "Twice the Price". As he approaches the ring, Sprint executives appear out of nowhere to chase away DT.
  16. Hopefully it essentially works upon arrival too.
  17. The new FCC administration being pro-business, likely is going to be in favor of a three-carrier market, since it helps the carriers. The last FCC administration made the appearance of being pro-consumer. Things certainly are different now, especially with Verizon being allowed to video throttle customers already with them, now that contracts with service guarantees are gone.
  18. I'm still not seeing any signs of Nibiru approaching.
  19. I agree. Such as that sudden cable company merger that seemed such a big deal, so closely imminent, yet completely, suddenly stopped being discussed. I wasn't really supportive of the idea anyways. I'd much rather see mergers between current carriers within the wireless industry than see cable get involved. I'm of course one of the biggest supporters of wireless industry consolidation, but even I'm seeing the complete lull in activity as a sign this isn't really close to happening and even now may not be the best time to speculate on mergers. There is more concern right now with where pricing may go, and this Verizon move is worrying.
  20. Also an update to what I mentioned recently regarding the LG V30. Since LG is making the Pixel XL2 featuring LG's FullVision display, unless LG definitely sells the V30+ here in the U.S., I'm most likely going to skip getting the LG V30 all together, instead wait for the Pixel XL2 to arrive. I'm hoping it won't be carrier limited to Verizon this time around, which I think its best just to have it sold as an Unlocked model, but also would be nice if it were sold on all carriers. Being that its going to be made by LG, hopefully it'll be waterproof too.
  21. If there wasn't any issue with money that has been reported with Sprint, then if Sprint could spend alot of money on deployment and densification, they would do very well without needing a merger. Especially if Softbank were to do a major network investment and have the build done properly. I think a $10 billion investment into it would be plenty and have Sprint thriving on its own.
  22. No merger information from me. I'm expecting more of this horrible video throttling stuff to continue before anything productive gets announced.
