something is up with that tower. I think it's in testing mode or something because it was completely down yesterday and today I connected to lte although I couldn't connect after I got out of classI got one to at the track but once you leave the parking lot it goes away wonder what's the range of these towers my house is less than a mile away from that tower.
-
I say rev b should be implemented because for now lte at 1900mhz doesn't reach as far as evdo on 1900. So even when we can't connect to lte rev b would be an excellent fallback

Has anybody noticed that one dot of purple in Langley park

Alrighty.Recon done over the last week. Here we go!!!
Confirmed visually and I spoke to the crew who also confirmed they were installing the NV equipment.
This tower is located on Ave A in Westwego, off the expressway.
The pics above show the NV gear on the top rack.
The next pics I suppose are all "before" pictures since it appears nothing has been done LOL
2 Fairfield in Gretna
Panels on top of Paychex building by Oakwood Mall
Tower on Lapalco Blvd, between Helen Cox High and Manhattan Blvd
Tower located on Ames at Lapalco by the old Kmart. This location has what looks like a brand new cabinet, but its massive and doesnt look like any NV gear Ive seen.
Tower behind old Circuit City on Manhattan Blvd
Tower on Commerce towards Bellemeade North between Belle Chasse Hwy and Lapalco
So there are a few of the sites Ive had a chance to go by over the last two days.I have a list of about 9 more to hit in the coming days.Hope you all enjoy the pics, even though most of them show nothing going on LOL.
In the 11th picture in this post the top rack is similar to how Sprint's rack is on my closest tower. How would they be able to install the new equipment on that?

bowie is in the DC market but very close to the borderhttp://s4gru.com/index.php?/gallery/image/128-sprint-market-map-baltimore/
Crofton appears to be in Baltimore. I suspect Bowie is too. it's on the border, near the train tracks.

I think I'll ride around today to towers that I know have backhaul ready to see if I can pick up any lte

thats most likely the case because I've noticed in my area almost all nv towers are broadcasting smr even though not reported herePerhaps it was live on one of the nearby sites that had LTE live too. the site right next to that mall hasn't been upgraded to LTE yet for whatever reason, though sites close by are.
-
smr probably wasn't on the closest tower to the mall but was coming from a distant towerToday in the local indoor mall where Sprint signal was horrid (no DAS for all 4 of the major carriers in this place) I found my phone searching for a usable channel on EVDO, and then it was also searching channels on 1X, eventually it landed on band class 10, channel 476, Sprints CDMA 800. Only thing is it didn't have any luck getting a better signal on that.
What I'm getting at is the fact that for me my GS3 is only hunting for 800 SMR when 1900 is too weak. Some have said that it will park itself on 800, and other info states that it won't connect until 1900 signal is almost completely dead. For me it was the latter, although 800 SMR is not really fully setup and live around that mall so I was still unsuccessful in using it this time.

I'm in a similar situationI get what you are saying.
This is just wishful thinking on my part since my house is only 2/3 of a mile away from the tower but the top of my street is higher elevation and sits in between. My Evo LTE says I currently have a signal strenght of -102 dBm right now. I use WiFi at home for data but my calls aren't always as smooth as I'd like.
-
I guess I'm speaking for my area with a lot of trees but still suburban. I'd prefer sprint to have higher towers to reach over the treesYou would think so, but the farther it goes, the weaker it is. Cell density is the way to get better PCS signal. Not trying to throw it farther and getting mediocre results.

I Think Sprint being at 1900 would want to be on a taller tower since that higher frequency would have less objects to go through (trees, etc.).

yeah I'm not sure about Motorola. One thingy can do is download anycut from the play store and search for prl write and use that as a shortcut and it will flash any prl on the root of your card in the format TEST.prlSamsung Android 4.0 handsets can do a PRL swap by way of a simple home screen shortcut. The same may be true of Motorola handsets, though I do not know.

I received the SMS text message today. My city was given as WAS.
There was no date given for Alexandria.
Swyped from my SPH-L710
Hmmm I'm in Maryland. Never received a message. I'll check with the rest of my family and see if they got one
-
Over in the sponsor section some members are reporting they received text messages from sprint about a new network and gave whatever city they are in. Just curious if anybody else received a message from sprint in this market or any others

I can't wait to get my hands on a surface pro. Just seems like it would be weird on a desktop but I love the design for a tablet

I have the same Text issue sporadically here in Austin. 5-10 Minute delays on sent messages and sometimes up to 30 minuets worth of messages will arrive on my phone at once. My wife's iPhone 5 has a different issue, the phone will report a failure to send even when the message is successfully delivered. Needless to say I get a lot of duplicate texts from her.
ok i knew i couldnt have been the only one lol
and that receiving 30 minutes worth of messages at once happens to me and drives me nuts
-
Been happening to me since maybe 2010. I don't even bother texting with a Sprint prl anymore
One additional thing. Your phone may not show it as a delay. When i had the evo 3d it showed the correct time stamp often showing a seven minute delay. When i got the gnex it would show whatever time the phone got it but still a delay. I've tested that a few times
-
There has to be something going on. Not just on one device or one tower. Happens to me as far up as Baltimore. It isn't every message btw, but every few will get a 7 minute delay.
-
I wanted to get feedback from the community. Before network vision texting on the Sprint network would often result in delays of either exactly 7 or 14 minutes and sometimes a bunch of messages coming in at the same time all being delayed. I never have this problem when using prl 00001. I figured this problem would be resolved with network vision but even when connected to 800mhz channel 476 I still get this. Is there something deeper that's wrong with Sprint's network? This isn't a rant but I'm curious.

sorry to bring this thread back from the dead but i was wondering what u guys thinks about investing in clearwire stock. i was thinking about purchasing 100 shares or so
-
Wasn't able to get a screen shot but I picked a weak lte signal in ft Lauderdale Florida. I was high up on the oasis cruise ship and low speeds so it could have been a distant tower
If lte is gsm, then what's the CDMA 4g?
