  1. Great! Hopefully Sprint can flip the switch on this and push updates before the inauguration.
  2. Fortunately, Sprint has signed onto the DAS at the Convention Center. From December 2015: http://www.fiercetelecom.com/telecom/cox-business-gains-at-t-sprint-sign-to-its-las-vegas-convention-center-das More in the Press Release linked to in the article.
  3. Marcelo is speaking at a Conference on January 5th: http://newsroom.sprint.com/news-releases/sprint-ceo-marcelo-claure-to-speak-jan-5-at-citis-2017-internet-media-and-telecommunications-conference.htm
  4. Why has it stalled? Money? Two Channel Carrier Aggregation is live here, right? When will it pick up again?
  5. This was the Network announcement for the 2013 Presidential Inauguration: http://newsroom.sprint.com/news-releases/sprint-prepares-its-network-for-2013-presidential-inauguration.htm (January 10, 2013) It's interesting to see where the Sprint network was at that point in time. Perhaps a similar announcement will be made in the coming weeks based on prior timing.
  6. Lol. It would be nice if Sprint was able to activate a third carrier for both the DC area network and push the update for it additional devices (iPhone 7, Samsung Galaxy S7) before January 20th. Sprint's on much more solid network footing now. WiMAX was finally shut down earlier this year and Sprint has been able to swap out the old gear with new LTE equipment. I'm really curious to see what Sprint's "Network" announcement will be for the inauguration. Hopefully a lot of progress has been made on the D.C. network?
  7. It would be nice if the third carrier was live in time for the Presidential Inauguration on January 20th, especially given the huge influx of people to the DC Area for it. Curious to hear what Sprint's preparation plans are for it: COWs, etc. Here's what Sprint did back in 2013: Sprint Prepares its Network for 2013 Presidential Inauguration Given the timing of the prior announcement (January 10, 2013), perhaps an update on this will be published in the coming week(s).
  8. Sprint's Network Vision project enabled this to happen. The strong foundation is there from it. This is the power of new modular equipment, contiguous spectrum and pushed software upgrades to the tower sites.
  9. I'm guessing Sprint's maps are more conservative in terms of coverage than OpenSignal's coverage map?
  10. Celebrating a Year of Network Improvements as We Look Ahead to 2017 By Dr. John Saw, CTO, Sprint http://newsroom.sprint.com/blogs/sprint-perspectives/celebrating-a-year-of-network-improvements-as-we-look-ahead-to-2017.htm
  11. Sprint's map has apparently been quite conservative in displaying its 800 MHz spectrum coverage. https://www.reddit.com/r/Sprint/comments/5ipysj/2nd_ama_here_we_come/dba4th6/? Sounds like a change on that is in the works.
  12. However, there's no way to know if the same announcement would have happened had there been a different election result. Sprint would probably try to work with any administration to make its business more competitive. Of course, the question is how much of Sprint's outreach is reciprocated by the administration.
  13. Marcelo just tweeted: https://twitter.com/marceloclaure/status/814537972653625344 "The 5,000 jobs are NEW jobs that @Sprint is creating or bringing back to the U.S. Great news for the country." https://twitter.com/marceloclaure/status/814537973203091456 "Stop speculating. This has NOTHING to do with previously announced @Sprint initiatives."
  14. Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure to Speak Jan. 5 at Citi’s 2017 Internet, Media and Telecommunications Conference http://newsroom.sprint.com/news-releases/sprint-ceo-marcelo-claure-to-speak-jan-5-at-citis-2017-internet-media-and-telecommunications-conference.htm Hope we get some good news.
  15. Marcelo spoke with Trump and then they both announced it through their own communication channels. For whatever reason, this happened the way it did. Do we know for a fact this would have still occurred had the election had gone the other way?
  16. Marcelo's announcement for Sprint was new: https://twitter.com/marceloclaure/status/814244138447241217
  17. Marcelo previously hosted a fundraiser for Hillary at his home in Miami. http://fortune.com/2016/09/22/hillary-clinton-sprint-marcelo-claure/ If she had won, Sprint would have worked with her too.
  18. Sprint Announces Commitment to Create or Bring Back to America 5,000 Jobs http://newsroom.sprint.com/news-releases/sprint-announces-commitment-to-create-or-bring-back-to-america-5000-jobs.htm How about that...
  19. I have a feeling it will be a good year for Sprint. 3CA updates for additional devices are coming early next year: We'll also know pretty quickly once the first HPUE-capable device is released/reviewed whether it's really a substantial improvement over existing handsets. According to what Sprint has said: Also, we haven't heard much more about Sprint's selection of Gilat to extend LTE Services since this news release: Gilat’s Satellite-based Cellular Backhaul Solution Selected by Sprint to Extend LTE Services to Metro Edge and Rural Areas in the US [Oct 26, 2016] Perhaps we'll hear more about this in 2017 as well.
  20. Mentioned it earlier, but I wonder what he and Marcelo are talking about right now. https://twitter.com/marceloclaure/status/811486352554463232
  21. Very helpful cost-breakdown info on this. Thanks. Is there a resulting sunk cost for the installed Mini-Macro build if it's going to be replaced with 8T8R one day? Or could the installed Mini Macros be replaced, reclaimed, repurposed and moved into new locations as the Macro sites are ultimately upgraded to 8T8R?
  22. Right. That's what I'm asking about. If there's a difference in cost and/or coverage, I'm curious to know how much.
