We can only hope. Sprint has deployed 3CA on sites in DC. Sprint is also bringing 3CA COWs for additional capacity. http://newsroom.sprint.com/blogs/sprint-perspectives/sprints-dc-network-ready-to-support-a-great-american-tradition-the-presidential-inauguration.htm Hopefully there's a peripheral benefit for 2CA devices from the third carrier being deployed.

Doesn't Sprint roam on US Cellular as well? Combine it with this article: "U.S. Cellular hopes Trump administration ups USF spending" (Link: http://www.fiercewireless.com/wireless/u-s-cellular-hopes-trump-administration-ups-usf-spending) .... and US Cellular is forever destined to be where it is in the market... which seems to suit the owners just fine.

Sprint Super Bowl Coverage/DAS

NRG Stadium Wi-Fi ready for Super Bowl LI http://www.mobilesportsreport.com/2017/01/nrg-stadium-wi-fi-ready-for-super-bowl-li/ The article also contains info on the DAS. Here's a flashback to March 2016: https://twitter.com/WaltBTIG/status/713030026371981312 Here's a flashback to November 2014: http://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/article/It-s-a-hangup-Cellphone-use-at-NRG-is-haphazard-5924813.php "But there's always 2015. Verizon will begin work next month on a new distributed antenna system for Verizon customers to be completed early next year or, perhaps, in late December. Officials with Sprint, which manages the DAS now used by all carriers, say that system also is scheduled for upgrades." Here info on 5Bars: http://5bars.com/# (NRG Stadium Project) -
Sprint's DC Network Update for the Inauguration: http://newsroom.sprint.com/blogs/sprint-perspectives/sprints-dc-network-ready-to-support-a-great-american-tradition-the-presidential-inauguration.htm Sprint says that for 12 months its team has been on the ground working hard to add additional network coverage and capacity in preparation for January 20. Sprint says it's doubled the capacity of its 1.9 GHz cell sites around the National Mall and DC Metro stations. Sprint is also using carrier aggregation on its 2.5 GHz cell sites for even faster data speeds on capable devices. Sprint says it's using two- and three-channel carrier aggregation on 2.5 GHz cell sites in the area, and bringing in Cells On Wheels (COWs) with three-channel carrier aggregation to provide additional temporary capacity at various high-traffic locations extending from Lincoln Memorial to the U.S. Capitol. Sprint says these efforts cap off two years of extensive work by the team in D.C. lighting up new cell sites, adding more capacity with additional spectrum and new technologies such as carrier aggregation and antenna beamforming, as well as optimizing the performance of each and every cell site along the way. Sprint also says the team invested heavily in D.C. ahead of Pope Francis’ visit 16 months ago, including upgrading the wireless systems within many high-traffic public venues across the area. So we'll see how it goes. Hopefully more devices receive an update so they can actually access 3xCA. I'm guessing the 2xCA sites are more likely to be the Dual Mode Clearwire Gear and the 3xCA sites are replacement upgrades? 3xCA COWs? Didn't know Sprint had these. Would Sprint be using microwave backhaul for it?

This was the Network announcement for the 2013 Presidential Inauguration: http://newsroom.sprint.com/news-releases/sprint-prepares-its-network-for-2013-presidential-inauguration.htm (January 10, 2013) It's interesting to see where the Sprint network was at that point in time. Perhaps a similar announcement will be made in the coming weeks based on prior timing.

Lol. It would be nice if Sprint was able to activate a third carrier for both the DC area network and push the update for it additional devices (iPhone 7, Samsung Galaxy S7) before January 20th. Sprint's on much more solid network footing now. WiMAX was finally shut down earlier this year and Sprint has been able to swap out the old gear with new LTE equipment. I'm really curious to see what Sprint's "Network" announcement will be for the inauguration. Hopefully a lot of progress has been made on the D.C. network?

It would be nice if the third carrier was live in time for the Presidential Inauguration on January 20th, especially given the huge influx of people to the DC Area for it. Curious to hear what Sprint's preparation plans are for it: COWs, etc. Here's what Sprint did back in 2013: Sprint Prepares its Network for 2013 Presidential Inauguration Given the timing of the prior announcement (January 10, 2013), perhaps an update on this will be published in the coming week(s).

However, there's no way to know if the same announcement would have happened had there been a different election result. Sprint would probably try to work with any administration to make its business more competitive. Of course, the question is how much of Sprint's outreach is reciprocated by the administration.

Marcelo just tweeted: https://twitter.com/marceloclaure/status/814537972653625344 "The 5,000 jobs are NEW jobs that @Sprint is creating or bringing back to the U.S. Great news for the country." https://twitter.com/marceloclaure/status/814537973203091456 "Stop speculating. This has NOTHING to do with previously announced @Sprint initiatives."
