I'm wondering if those of us in Shentel territory are behind the curve in this process, given the changes in that acquisition.
My impression has been that Sprint has been moving Shentel customers over all the same, regardless of how awful the T-Mobile experience is.

Ah ha! I've been puzzled about why T-Mobile would be rushing to shut off CDMA when 1X 800 uses spectrum that T-Mobile literally will not be using otherwise, and the answer is, apparently, that it isn't:
"The carrier assured Schatz and 12 other senators it plans to shutter its 3G CDMA network by January 1, 2021, but has no date certain for its 2G CDMA shutoff." (Emphasis mine.)
That makes much more sense, and would be consistent with turning of EV-DO in PCS and possibly also CDMA in PCS, while leaving 1X 800 in place.

I've been stalking DCRA's new permit searching system and nothing yet. Grr.
How does T-Mobile usually file permits... I've seem T-Mobile and Tmo before. Not sure if there are any other variations they use.
The new system is awful, IMO. Not that the old one was fantastic either.

I've not been watching DC for permits, so I can't really say what might be going on there.
In Fairfax County, they're filed as "T-Mobile" but I've also been searching by address just in case. I was told by someone in the permitting office that apparently antenna towers do not require antenna permits, but building-mounted antennas do. Of course, if they're doing massive electrical work like running new circuits, that may require a permit from the electrical side of things, but then that's not an antenna permit.
I've also been searching by address in Alexandria and Arlington for 312250 (or suspected 312250) sites, without success.

I still have yet to see any Sprint sites converted to T-Mobile around here, or even permits for any.

I also have not gone very far.

I've had to toggle Location Service off and on with my G8X in some cases to get it to update. I always check my coordinates to make sure they're updating as I've historically had GPS problems with some of my phones.

Does that include the surcharges ("administrative" charges) as well or just taxes? My taxes rarely eclipsed $10 for all 6 lines combined. Even combining with the surcharges, that still comes to less than $40, meaning a $20 increase overall.
Edit: I called and according to support, my bill will come out to be the same +/- a dollar. I'm not sure I get the math. I hope that's the case though.
I was going by what I saw on the website when I went earlier today. I assume the final bill will come to my e-mail tomorrow.

Mine jumped by $5/line, but considering the eliminated taxes and fees, my bill only went up 15 cents overall. Considering I've seen those taxes and fees jump around month to month, I'm going to call the consistency this should bring to my bill a net win.

I'm very happy with mine. If you can get a good price on it, I don't see why not.

I note they now do not expect the sale to close until the third quarter. I wish they would at least start running 312250 on the Shentel sites...

I keep having a problem for days now, where if my phone (still pure Sprint) picks up/switches to nearby TMo signal (usually B66 per SCP), suddenly I can't send or receive texts (its also flips to an R for Roaming, but all phone data settings are set to allow all roaming possibilities as well). And toggling Airplane mode doesn't allow the phone to switch back to a native Sprint connection ever. The only way I can ever fix it is to reboot the phone, then suddenly its fine again.
@Trip is the only person I know that has a G8X too for sure (or did) - granted you're in a completely different area than me, but have you experienced anything like this lately?
I have seen it randomly kick me over to T-Mobile roaming, but service still works when it does that. I don't do texting and only do calling very infrequently, so I can't tell you whether or not those things work, though I think mine does 1X with T-Mobile LTE, as it typically would with roaming. Is 1X enabled on your device?
I am sometimes able to get it to go back to Sprint with Airplane Mode, but it usually moves back on its own if I let it sit. I think I've had to reboot it a few times, but not often.

There are plenty of places where Verizon could really use additional macro sites--especially if they're needing increased density for n77 to run properly. This feels like the Sprint small cell strategy all over again.
In this area, I'm not sure I've ever seen a T-Mobile small cell. Verizon small cells are relatively common, particularly on the roofs of gas stations and shopping centers. AT&T has plans to put in a boat load on utility poles. Sprint, of course, has strand mount pretty much anywhere that coverage for 2.5 GHz was poor along larger roads, but mixed in with a few small cells on utility poles.

Article about Verizon. Depressing to read:
QuoteHe said the combination of deploying mmWave 5G in urban areas and deploying C-band in the first 46 urban markets will “densify” the network quite a bit in 2021.
“So, we’re not building new macros,” said Dunne. “In the medium-term in rural and semi-rural areas, we may take the opportunity to do some infill. But in the short-term in the dense urban areas, we have no incremental macro site requirements.”

The coordinates will also now update as they are refreshed, regardless of how often your mobile signal information updates.
I meant to tell you that I noticed this over the weekend and find it IMMENSELY useful. Thank you so much!

Haha, no worries. It's not one I'm itching to have!
I'll be making a long round-trip today, so we'll see how it does!

I haven't seen any permits yet around here, and I've been checking several non-collocated sites around me in Alexandria and Fairfax County.
And, of course, the Shentel sale hasn't closed, so nothing's happening there yet. I'm waiting to see 312250 show up there.

Yeah I thought T-Mobile was the second rack down but wasn’t 100%. Only other thing I may be able to think about is Dish adding a rack for Boost. But not definite. You have a link for the permit Trip?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure the second rack from the top is Shentel. The normal looking panel is the Network Vision panel (800+PCS) while the gray rectangular one is some type of high-capacity 2.5 GHz panel that I've seen them use in very congested areas. It doesn't follow the standard GCI pattern.
I'm having a hard time deciding which rack is T-Mobile, which is unusual for a site that is, in fact, upgraded to include 600 MHz. The panel that looks most like a 600/700 panel is the biggest panel on the bottom rack (left side of each face) with the right panel looking like it could be an AWS/PCS panel, so I'm going to say that's my educated guess.
The other three racks with panels are Verizon (700/850/AWS/PCS), AT&T (700/750/AWS/PCS/2300), and US Cellular (700/850), but I can't tell you which is which.
As far as the permit goes, I can't link to it as the site doesn't work in a way that allows obvious external links. But the permit site is here: http://countyviewweb.albemarle.org/Web_view_building_Web_view_building_BuildingApplicationSummary.aspx
Paste B202001495ATWR into the search field and you should be able to figure out how to open the information on that permit, however incomplete the public-facing side is.

If that's the tower I think it is, I looked up the permit and while I think it's B202001495ATWR, the permitting site isn't descriptive enough to be able to tell you anything specific about it. I will say that every other carrier is already on that tower (minus Dish, who wouldn't be building yet) and I'm not sure why T-Mobile would want to move down the tower from the spot Shentel is in now (it's the second rack from the top if I'm not mistaken, the one with the wide gray rectangular antenna).

Yup. Now that I think about it, I should probably add the FirstNet PLMN to the AT&T map...
Sorry - I read the error message wrong. You're right - it dropped the entire 512-point cluster. That should only happen if I detect a band that's not numeric (as that looks suspiciously like foul play/attempted hacking). Can you shoot me the file? I'd like to take a look at what's going on there.
I picked one of the db files with both messages, and will PM you the link.

Those upload errors come from me.
I verify each recorded datapoint's band against the carrier and drop datapoints that look funky. For example, we shouldn't see an AT&T PLMN paired with B13 or a Verizon PLMN paired with B41. You might have had a suspicious looking band because SCP didn't update the PLMN quickly enough.
The unsupported carrier message probably refers to your phone briefly roaming on/band scanning a rural carrier. I only support AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint and US Cellular right now. Other PLMNs are dropped. If you have a PLMN/carrier you would like me to add, I can take a look at getting it spun up in my database.
I figured out the unsupported carriers bit. Now and then my phones will see PLMNs that aren't supported, like 313100 for FirstNet. I doubt those need to be included, and there are sometimes garbage PLMNs that sneak in as well.
The band versus carrier thing though, it seems like it's dropping more than an individual row; it said "Cluster #2" for example, which seems to be 512 rows. Is that expected behavior?

Tried to do the upload from my oldest phone, a G3 with a T-Mobile SIM, which I believe still uses modem commands to get the EARFCN, and got this.
This is actually the last thing I'm doing with that phone before permanently retiring it as the screen appears to be failing. I got my mom's old phone from her over the weekend as we upgraded her at Christmas. Her old E4 Plus has now been rooted and will replace my G3 going forward.
I used the upload function on my Verizon E5 Play, AT&T E5 Play, and my main Sprint G8X without issue. I need to upgrade and upload with the others, and will do so probably later today or tomorrow. I'll let you know if I encounter any other problems.
EDIT: Here are two of my E5 Plays for T-Mobile giving messages:
I'm saving copies of the database files that give messages if you want to review them.

Mike,
I have a feature request. With as many phones as I have, I'd very much like an option to stick a suffix on the name of any files exported from SCP, including database backups. I may have mentioned this one before, but it's been bugging me more lately.
So imagine going into the Preferences and being able to set an option called something like "export name suffix." I could stick "tmo" in that option, and then when I back up the database, instead of just getting out a file named:
20210528-182723_signalcheck_log.db
I would get out a file named:
20210528-182723_signalcheck_log_tmo.db
This would make keeping track of the multiple files as I work on merging them together a whole lot easier, as I wouldn't have to copy one at a time and rename each one in sequence. And I would hope it's something pretty straight-forward to do.
Any chance you can help me out on this?
