  1. So now that Nextel is shutdown and NV is going on all over the country... When do you think we will see the finished product? End of 2013 or 2014 or 2015?

On going major project.  Sprint is replacing everything.  Most likely over 75% completed throughout the US by end of 2013.  I believe this week they reached milestone of over 50% completion.

  2. Im hoping bucdenny prediction will come true for Phoenix Az. Ive been waiting for any 4g since I bought the epic 4g lol when it first came out what 3 years ago? With the Sprint stores saying to me the whole time frame "its just around the corner" and "should only be a couple more months". I purchased the galaxy note 2 last summer with the hopes lte would be out my ends year last year.. Maybe this year?? I predict no later than the end of 2014. Well see.

We were in the same boat for San Diego market with 3G accepted work in 4th quarter 2012.  On the sponsor maps, Phoenix has many sites 3G accepted.  It is a matter of plugging in the 100Mbps+ fiber from Cox or CenturyLink.

My prediction will be summer 2013 you will start seeing sites with 4G LTE.  Cox and CenturyLink are faster than AT&T when it comes to delivering the back-haul.

This a comparison of Cox and AT&T in San Diego market.  If we had more Cox fiber area's, I think we would had more LTE sites live.

  3. Even with Clearwire TD-LTE, the claim to the fastest LTE network will be questionable.  VZW and T-Mobile likely will both have some markets with 20 MHz FDD deployments.  And from a peak speed standpoint, 20 MHz FDD is definitely faster than 20 MHz TDD.  In fact, 20 MHz TDD is really more comparable to 10 MHz FDD, which VZW, AT&T, and T-Mobile already have in many/most/all markets.  So, Sprint still will not win the peak speed contests, but it may win the average speed contests -- or, at least, be far more competitive.

What was the reason for Clearwire to deply TDD? was it because China/Japan?  If Clearwire were deploying 20 Mhz FDD would they be looking at speeds above 100Mbps?

  4. I think Son's plan was to deploy Clear LTE on nearly every PCS site in metro areas such as NYC, Chicago, and such. I know in NYC site spacing is way more dense than what is actually needed for PCS. If every site in NYC were to get Clear LTE, NYC could become "Sprint" city rather than a Verizon city.

We hope that is the case throughout all big cities.  It will be night and day for Sprint, people will realize shit I am paying more than Sprint with slower speeds with CAP!  This is why it is important for Sprint to keep unlimited data.

  5. Cool I read more info about their LTE network on their website and it looks like they planned to release a LTE advance network that can get about 100mbps down. I wonder sprint/SoftBank plans to same once they acquire clearwire.

Do I necessarily need to have at 100mbps down, absolutely not but for bragging rights it would be nice if sprint/SoftBank does plan to have those kind of speeds on that network

Having that speed will change their marketing strategies. How does it sound when everyone says "the fastest LTE Network in America and its unlimited"

Right now Sprint is known as unlimited and unusable.

  6. I posted this in another section a while back, and was hoping someone had any info so I'll post here.

As for the Oceanside areas of 92056 and 92057, what's the hold up at site SD54XC172 loacted at this park? Here's the approval records http://www.ci.oceanside.ca.us/civica/filebank/blobdload.asp?BlobID=30644.  I live a couple of miles from it, and I'm pretty sure if LTE was up and running here, it will pretty much cover the 92056-7 spots. Besides Camp Pendleton, these 2 zips are pretty much left out in Oceanside, while the rest of O'side has full to spotty LTE coverage.

Have you tried visiting the site?  Do you see any electrical work completed? The Network Vision goes in phases and from what I remember talking to one of the electricians working on a Sprint NV site in San Diego said once permit is ready they start with electrical work for back-haul.  If electrical is not ready, back-haul gets stalled.

Specially AT&T is very picky with the electrical work, if it is not to their standards they will not pull in the fiber.  If there is no fiber = no hardware to install.

  7. I have a question...so I know its been discussed in other threads that sprint is upgrading every single tower in their network (thats the very basics of knowing what NV is) and that sprint 4g lte will have an advantage because instead of doing a "blanket" treatment of LTE like att does they will upgrade every tower.  My question is will the towers that have been upgraded and are 3g only, will they some time in the future see LTE?  For example Phoenix, AZ is getting a ton of 3g updates and it looks like they will get the LTE "blanket" effect.  Looking at other markets there are a lot of just 3g tower updates instead of 3g/4g updates.  So I'm just wondering if that is how it will stay or if all towers eventually will have 4g turned on because they are capable of it now with the new backhaul and equipment at the site.

It will be like San Diego.  We started seeing 3G accepted sites 4th quarter 2012 and didn't see our first LTE live sites until Feb 2013.

Phoenix should be quick because Cox can deliver back-haul within 30-60 days.  Most of San Diego's LTE sites that were live quickly were most likely back-hauled by Cox.  Anything back-haul provided by AT&T are taking at least 6 months.  If Sprint was union it would be 2 months delivery instead of 6 months.

Phoenix should see LTE this summer.   :tu:

  8. I work at the corner of Balboa and Genessee and I have been getting 1.5 to 1.9 mbps  for at least six months now.  All of Clairemont has been largely ignored so far according to the upgrade map.

Many sites in Clairemont are in progress since 2012.  You can see some here:

All sites in San Diego I would guess has to go through city hearings/appeals?

  9. I was at the Krispy Kreme in Clairemont this morning and I got 1mbps or so down on 3G. Not sure what tower I was on but there is one in that shopping center that's 3G only according to the sites complete map. Does that mean the backhaul is there already and they just need to turn on LTE, or did I get the fast speeds because I was really close to the tower?

Site is located on TJ Max roof in Clairemont Square and Genesee/Clairemont on Lele's Cleaners.  Both are 3G accepted.  Most likely waiting for AT&T fiber back-haul.  If it was a different back-haul provider such as Cox; LTE would have been live by now.

  10. Most important

Sprint has received commitments from a group of significant Clearwire stockholders, including Mount Kellett Capital Management LP, Glenview Capital Management LLC, Chesapeake Partners Management Co., Inc. and Highside Capital Management LP, which collectively own approximately 9 percent of Clearwire’s voting shares, to vote their shares in support of the transaction. These stockholders have also agreed to sell their shares to Sprint in the event the transaction does not close.
