Take this with a grain of salt, but I sent a message to Sprint on Facebook asking a direct question as to when the Milwaukee Market was going to be upgraded. After all the promises the last two years, I thought we, the Sprint Customers deserved some sembenance of an idea when its going to finally occur.
I recieved a reply from another user before Sprint replied saying : "it is in the process of being updated now. They started it I think a month or so ago. It will take a really long time though."
Sprint customer service also replied back, saying:
"Gregg – Great news! Milwaukee has towers that have been changed over to LTE. It has just started, so please be patient with us. We are upgrading everything on the towers from cell sites, switches and adding more Ethernet cables. If you have any questions or concerns we are here for you! *SPG"
I thanked them for a honest answer.
Gregg
Towers that have changed over to----it has just started, so please be patient. Milwaukee? Milwaukee market? Switched in Milwaukee, really where? Some straight talk would be great.

Sounds a little to much like the 9-9-9 idea or at least a little sims ularIt means exactly what it says... Some Sprint managers have access to a reporting site that shows Network Vision and 4G progress in various markets. The Milwaukee Market (essentially southern Wisconsin) is divided up into smaller areas. Overall though, the Milwaukee market is forecast to have 91 towers live for LTE in 90 days. Again, I stress "forecast", and one of those towers is on or at Oklahoma Ave and Beloit Rd. Its the plan. And as with all plans, that can and could change.
Its the info I have.

What you have to worry about getting a trespass going on a railroad track? I've violated restricted floors in a building because I'm nosy. Just do it.You might want to keep an eye on 11th/Mitchell and 1st/Becher. There's been activitiy around those areas but who knows what the real reason is.
I'd get a photo of the antennas at 1st/Becher but it's a building mount and it's set back on the roof so I can't get a photo of it unless I trespass on the Canadian Pacific tracks behind it. And I'm not.

That would explain alot! I walk past there often and it has been worse than normal.Looks like more work is going on at the two towers near me. The first (red warehouse at 1st and Becher - with 3 circles) are definitely Sprint towers. I asked a technician what they were doing and he confirmed they were upgrades. When I asked if LTE panels were going up, he shook his head and said "shortly". I didn't wanna hound him but I had the feeling of watching the linesmen install cable in my neighborhood when I was a little kid. I tried to get photos but the panel racks are set back on the roof so there was no way I could get a really good shot without using a more advanced camera. I'll get that done as soon as I'm able and share those.

Well the Evo LTE is what I have to replace my Evo WiMax until a triband comes around. Just got the LTE free a few days ago. I'll wait.Yup. That's the EVO for you.

I'm grasping at straws because I don't want to assume Sprint doesn't value our market. Merger with another carrier in this region? I know the US Cellular thing has been talked about, but I'm grasping at straws to explain what doesn't make sense. Is the network here a big mess and needs a lot of work before hand?I'm looking forward to hearing from that Samsung guy. Being a Sprint customer in the Milwaukee market is very frustrating...

Two sites that have had underground work done. I was able to post one pic but apparently I'm limited to pics that I can upload? Both were at a tower with Sprint antennas, one of them was a Sprint only tower.Just think Milwaukeeans (Milwaukeeites?), with all the people leaving Sprint in droves in SE Wisconsin, you'll have the new blazing network all to yourselves!
I cannot make any excuses for Sprint in Milwaukee. They are just plain late. Much later than originally planned. And since it is a Samsung market, it confuses me. Samsung is the most aggressive of all the OEM's. They are already starting or started some 4th Round markets and plans to be starting all markets by early Summer.
Why does Milwaukee continue to languish? I don't know. It's painful to watch from here. There has to be a specific problem there preventing a start. I'd love to know what it is. I've reached out to a Samsung engineer who has provided us info in the past. Hopefully he'll have some info, even though he works on another region. I'll report back should I find out more.
I do believe early work has started in the market. But will not feel confident without you guys starting to see activity in the field.

Anyone?Anyone?

Anyone? This is site "Ml17xc186E" It is on Waterford between 6th and 13th St. This is a Sprint only tower. This is the second time I have seen a tower being connected to a telephone line underground (the other one was on the tower on 43rd and Loomis Rd basically by the north bound Loomis Road exit). Where in the process of updating a tower would work like this be done?

I meant pictures of an tower that is complete. I want to be able to know how to spot them. Sprint geniuses where are you?I'll take some pictures of the tower as soon as I get the chance to get out there.

I agree. A picture of what their antennas look like or what to look for would be very helpful. PICTURES.This permit is the only lead I have for lte deployment in the Madison area. The tower is a little bit out of my way to get to but I'll for sure start driving out there every other week if not once a week to check on it's progress. What should I be looking out for in terms of changes to the tower?

Nothing new done .Any update on this tower?

Find a specific address and call Wauwatosa city hall.

http://itmdapps.milwaukee.gov/citygov/dns/main/propertydata/nss/bisaddr.htmlIf we can get an approximate address we can check the sprint tower maps and cross reference permits for the address.

Not really in the city of Milwaukee. I'm checking a few sites that I have found by address. I used google maps using the satelite feature a lot. I'm down for people sharing looking up different locations and have said so, but nobody took me up on the offer.

Looks like another one at 1717 E Kane PL. It's Erickson pulling the permit too Not so sure about this one the date looks old.
-
I found a list of the of the sites and actually used Google maps/satellite to look at roof tops. There is no way of looking at this one to see what they have done because I'm sure the area is secured.Looks like you found the one of the first permits for Sprint in Mil. That address corresponds to a Sprint tower. Keep your eye on it and any other permits.

More often than usual network problems, sign of work being done? Always looking for that silver lining.
-
January was the supposed, not written in stone, month to start the Madison Milwaukee market. Only one backhaul permit was pulled in this market, which was near Madison? What's going wrong?
-
I thought that tower was in Glendale, it is actually in Milwaukee. The person in charge of permits in Glendale says there have been no permits pulled for work on Sprint towers. This "January beginning" is running out of time.

On Skokie in Northbrook, Illinois LTE definitely faster, but not amazing. Sensory has it light purple but phone was struggling to make it to 5MB. Is this what we have to look forward to once Milwaukee is complete? Lacklusture?!
