  1. I thought the whole point of the agreements were to let the phones roam onto eachother's networks.  LTE not included I guess.

    I've looked into this before.

Here is a few issues with LTE roaming on BG.  First, BG leases Band 13 spectrum from Verizon.  I don't see Verizon allowing BG to in a sense sub-lease to Sprint by allowing Sprint devices to roam on that band.

Second, BG owns band 12 spectrum in parts of KY but initially built that out for a fixed wireless broadband solution (I think no longer available).

My belief is that unless BG opens up their own Band 12 to cellphones there may not be reciprocal LTE roaming for a while with Sprint.

    Some info here:

  2. So this site went from a GMO 1900 LTE to a full 1900/800/2500 build? Kickass!

    YES!

The site's antennas were taken off completely to paint the water tower and they rebuilt the site with 1900/800 and 2500 panels (8 panels total).

Its the tower that feeds my house.  A little out of range for the B41 signal at home but I don't need it there anyway because I have WIFI.

  3. all of the 600Mhz would not be enough to build a nation wide network, or even a regional one... imagine if sprint didn't have band 41... think of the capacity nightmare, or the density required for capacity.  Mark my words apple will not build out a traditional land based cellular network, its not something they would be interested in.  The margins are to low, and the scale is to large. think about this. apple launches a low earth orbit satellite network with cellular fall back, imagine an apple net (or whatever they call it)  that covers every single inch of land and water on earth will a clear view of the sky (maybe even small buildings). Think of the possibilities, with apples size, scale, volume of phones and cash pile they could develop and deploy an exclusive and proprietary world wide network just for Iphones, imagine how that could change the world as we know it...

I think that would be called skInet

  4. That would actually be hilarious if Apple bought all of the 600Mhz spectrum.  They'd have the spectrum/cash to build out a nationwide network.  Doubt they'll actually do it, though.

I have a feeling if a non-cellular company purchases the spectrum then they will most likely lease it out, at least at first.

But just to speculate further, if Apple were buy the spectrum, they would most likely build it out to use in some sort of a interconnected ecosystem internet of things solution.

  5. I'm just going to throw this out there, but remember when it was rumored Apple was going to get into the MNVO market?

They are sitting on $200+ billion in cash reserves.  They could easily scoop up all the 600 MHZ available.

Also, excuse my ignorance, but if for any of the existing cellular providers, what kind of tower equipment upgrades would be required to support 600 MHZ?

  6. Finally got me an iPhone 6s Plus. Yay me!

Anyway I've been seeing posts here about how the field test screen on the 6s models are not showing the correct information. Today at work I went to the field test screen a couple of times while on 3G and for the SID of 4148 it normally shows 1900 PCS for the band class but on the new phone the field test app showed it as being 800 SMR.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

  7. I think people can come up with hundreds of scenarios where having that feature would have been useful, while others can come up with hundreds of scenarios where it wasn't as useful.

No one is right, no one is wrong, but the fact of the matter is, Sprint will not have simultaneous voice/data till VoLTE is deployed.

I have a guy at work that would leave AT&T for Sprint if only he were able to do voice and data at the same time.

He does a lot of tethering (legal) with his iPhone and Macbook and would hate to lose a data connection when receiving or placing phone calls.

I've never really used voice and data at the same time so I can live without what I've never had, but potential new Sprint customers may not want to give up that capability.

  8. I have no opinion àbout whether or not I like what I'm about to say, though this is what I can see happening after the Presidential changeover, if it were to be a Republican administration that gets in.

We all want Sprint to do well, and hope their success is what ultimately happens. Plus, I doubt any of us wants Sprint to be sold to Comcast, ever, though we've at least got to see that as a possibility, just as all carriers are potential targets of Comcast.

We also know how Masa wants to acquire T-Mobile. 8f that doesn't end up happening and say that AT&T were to acquire T-Mobile, then what carrier is left for Comcast to acquire.

If Masa doesn't get T-Mobile, which I highly disregard the reports of Comcast getting T-Mobile since T-Mobile just isn't large enough for them, then Masa has the choice of going through with NGN, or unfortunately sell to Comcast.

If Comcast were to merge with Verizon, that shuts down the possibility of Comcast getting Sprint, which I believe they may do only for the spectrum and after some time for Sprint to grow more from now, or else get much cheaper to buy.

As Comcast already has close connections with Verizon, with both companies being so large, it makes sense for Verizon and Comcast to merge, though will only happen under a Republican, especially Trump.

It does not make sense for them to merge because they are so large.

That is not what this article is about. Its about Comcast developing another revenue generating stream. You don't see Apple merging with Intel just because Apple is using their processors in their computers. Comcast is just going to possibly use the Verizon network.

  9. There really is no question. Start with the originals and then go back to fill in the story with the newer episodes.

It is only in this way that your son can share the true misery of Episode 1.

Thats what I'm leaning towards. Might as well let him experience good Star Wars before JarJar.

  10. I heard that there's a heavily modified version of episodes 1 to 3 that summarizes the movie rather well, and also takes out the filler parts.  I believe that may be the best option for your son.  But, if you decide to go vanilla, I'd strongly suggest watching the movies starting with episode 1. Minus JarJar Binks and other small issues, the entire movie series from episodes 1 to 6 was enjoyable for me.

Actually, something on my bucket list is to watch all 6 of the first movies in one day.  It'll be glorious!

EDIT: Found the heavily modified version, it's called The Phantom Edit.

I prefer to go old school.

I don't know if I could carve out enough time in my busy schedule to watch all 6 in one day.  I'll be lucky to get a couple in on a weekend.

  11. OK, so I'm a Star Wars fan and am excited about the new movie but my wife rolls her eyes at me anytime I mention it.

I figured there might be some fans of kindred spirit (or Force) here that would like discuss the movie.

So who thinks the female character is Han and Leia's daughter?

I want to show my 10 year old son the other movies before we watch the new one.  Should I show him episodes 4-6 first or start at episode 1? Or skip 1-3 altogether?

  12. Really? $70 for a plan that, in the bigger picture, shouldn't exist anyways, is too much? Frankly it should cost much more than 70 bucks when you consider what it is. It's still the cheapest unlimited plan on the market, and good luck getting a better deal on a different carrier.

    -Anthony

Best Buy still offers unlimited data with an iPhone 6s 16 GB lease for $70 a month. Not sure for how much longer.

  13. For those of you that have mailed in a phone for the iPhone Forever program, did you mail in a cheap prepaid phone and has it been accepted by Sprint?

Just called Best Buy and they said for the iPhone Forever it has to be a major carrier phone that is turned in for them to process it.
