  1. So I'm vacationing in Maine this week and have been roaming on US Cellular. Got an email notification about my wife's line reaching 75% of her data roaming allotment. The email also said data roaming will be suspended after reaching 100% which is fine. I'd rather be cutoff than automatically charged for overages. We've been trying to limit our data use to email, Google maps, and some Facebook.

I've seen mostly band 12 but occasionally I'll pick up band 5.

  2. Exactly my experience in almost every city I go to. Occasionally great connections, but usually it is flipping airplane mode consistently to avoid 3G or a weak B26. These problems aren't new either. Sprint really needs to better optimize/tune the settings for their (probably) most popular line of phones (iPhones).

“Don’t panic. I’m with you. There’s no need to fear for I’m your God. I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you. I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you.”

The problem is they have tuned before and then a follow on update completely wipes out what progress was made.

And what part of carrier updates are done by the carrier (Sprint) or the manufacturer (Apple)? Just curious.

  3. So a full weekend of roaming in KY, LTE speeds were unthrottled until hit hard cap of 300MB.

The 3G was good on Bluegrass pulling it over 2Mbps. Appalachian Wireless isn't native roaming, and has a 150Kbps throttle, unless it just sucks as a 3G provider.

At least Bluegrass seemed like 1x was PCS and CDMA was 850MHz. CDMA was always +10dBm stronger.

I'm not 100%, but it seemed like Bluegrass Cellular counted against LTE and 3G rushing buckets. Not 100% though on that but have that sneaking suspicion.

Bluegrass Cellular is supposed to be extended coverage and thus not count against your roaming.

Also, were you roaming on Bluegrass LTE? If so where?

I live in the Bluegrass Cellular area and still haven't seen LTE roaming on my iPhone 6s Plus. Then again I haven't went to an area yet where only BG was available.

when i put in my phone it reduces the roaming+ network i was under the impression that the galaxy s7 edge was able to roam with all the roaming partners bands is there some that it doesn't have??

I'm seeing the same behavior with new Extended LTE coverage in my area.  No matter which current phone I select the new coverage goes away.

  5. Possibly...what device did you pick?

I tried some of the latest. IPhone 6s, GS 7, LG G5.

Any device I choose the new coverage goes away.

I went to the BG site to look at their coverage map and the new Extended LTE coverage matches up with their fixed wireless coverage which is supposed to be B12 I believe.

  6. In relation to the new Bluegrass Cellular Extended LTE coverage showing up on the Sprint coverage map. When I select an actual device to show compatible coverage the new BG coverage disappears, even when I select a known CCA/RRPP device. Is it because its new coverage?

  7. Recently the newer promo plans have been available to switch to, but no waved access charges.

My access fees were waived when I switched from ED to the 40 GB family share.

Every now and then they offer it to existing customers.

I even added an extra line for free to get up to the 4 line limit.

  8. Apparently I waited too long to jump on the offer of $120/month for up to 4 lines and no access fees for as long as on the plan. I called today and they said promo had ended. The second time j called the lady offered me $40/month for 6 months credit. A manager is calling within the next 24-48 hours to see what they can offer.

Whah do you recommend I do?

When calling Sprint choose the options that make your way to the cancellation option. Then ask them about the offer. They always seem to be more competent and willing to work with you.

  9. Don't look for Best Buy to continue the great deals too much longer.  According to this article it may have hurt their holiday sales:

    http://fortune.com/2016/01/14/apple-best-buy-sales/

I expected this to happen.  The general population of customers are not willing to spend, as an example, $400+ for a cellphone when they are used to getting it for $50.

And even though the leases and easy pay programs are good deals, they look bad to the general customer because they increase their ongoing monthly payment.

That effects the ability for retailers to sell phones and thus effects manufacturers need to build more phones, especially high end phones.

If foresee it leveling out like the PC market.  Brand and OS devotion will carry some to high-end phones, but the general public will opt for the cheaper models, like buying a $300 Acer PC from Walmart vs buying a $1200 iMac.

  10. No way JOSÈ!!

The only way I switch is if they took ED plans away from my dead cold hands.

    Unlimited everything FTW!!

Btw everything you just claimed you better get it in writing or you'll get fubar'd. Especially the loyalty Credit because that's specifically for legacy plans and the employer discount goes towards the data/line fee and not the plan itself.

To date I have not seen anything comparable or better to the ED plans.

    ● Be mindful because what sounds too good to be true most probably is. Especially your first billing cycles, guarantee they'll be a lot of questions.

I felt the same way about the ED plan.

I was actually talking to an American rep, whom I trust more than a rep in another country. Plus I always choose the cancel plan phone option so I feel those reps would sure to be more competent.

I also had her to note my account that all the line access fees were to be waived. The loyalty credit is not a deal breaker.

I have noticed lately that each time I've called Sprint about an issue that they seem to bend over backwards to solve the problem when before they seemed to be bothered I called. I have more faith in them than I used too.
