  1. So, still haven't gotten a call from the Sprint store about my black 128 gb +. Our account on the Sprint website now shows the installment payment though, and it looks like they're trying to charge us for it. Gotta talk to Sprint and tell them that my Dad isn't paying for a phone we don't have yet. Also pretty upset that it's STILL not here.

I was told by a Sprint rep that the installment payments would not start until the new phones were activated and sure enough right after I activated the phones the installment payments showed up on my account.

  2. When did you guys order your 7 Pluses? We preordered ours in store on the 10th (the day after preorders started) and are still awaiting them to come into the store. I'm very anxious, to say the least, especially since we go out of town Friday and won't be back until Monday, I would hate for them to come in while we're away.  :(

Ordered mine late afternoon on the 9th from Sprint.

The UPS package alert showed up before the order status changed on Sprint's site.

  3. While $400 for a 5/5C/5S and $650 for a 6 or above is a great deal, the devil is still in the details. The credit is applied in monthly installments spread equally over 24 months. If the party decides to upgrade that line during the 24 month window, the monthly credit ends, relinquishing any credits that are still remaining. If they plan to keep the new phone for a minimum of 24 months and don't mind waiting for the credit, it's a great deal, but in reality it's simply a 24 month contract.

If you think 24 months is bad, what do you think about ATT's 30 months of credit small print: https://www.att.com/shop/Upper_Funnel_Promo_Modals/Wireless_Promo_Modals/tradein-offer.html

  4. If you did it via upgrade they will send the return kit with the order. If not you might have to call and request it.

I own my phones and are trading them in for the monthly installment credit. It described the process in the order email. I just didn't scroll down far enough.

  5. Bit late but 2 Black iPhone 7 Plus 128 GB ordered on 24 month installment. Ship by date of 9/30.

However I'm not getting a warm and fuzzy on how the trade in for the credit is going to work and there doesn't seem to be any FAQ related to the process.

I'm assuming I'll need to request a shipping package to mail the current phones to Sprint for the trade in credit but I'd rather take them to a corp store if possible.

  6. Looks like Sprint matched T-Mobile's Promo for a Free iPhone 7 with device trade-in:

Pre-order 9/9: FREE iPhone 7 Get iPhone 7 for FREE when you trade in iPhone 6 or iPhone 6s and choose any Sprint rate plan.

Sprint has become a lot more responsive in doing competitive offers.

Reading the fine print, I'm assuming "phone trade in must be unlocked" blurb is just for those trading in phones from other carriers:

Free iPhone 7: Reqs 24 installment billing on iPhone 7 (32GB). Trade in of eligible device: iPhone 6/6 Plus, iPhone 6s/6s Plus. Phone trade in must be unlocked, deactivated & all personal data deleted before trade-in and in good working order; device powers on and there are no broken, missing or cracked pieces. Device will not be returned. Higher memory configurations and iPhone 7+ will receive the same amount of trade-in credit and will not be free. Current customers most own trade in device.

  7. This whole "consistent" argument is all relative. There are areas where Sprint has coverage and tmobile doesn't and vice versa. It's an argument that neither side is going to win.

Just weighing in with my thoughts.  I believe the consistency issue with Sprint is related to data speeds and not coverage.

Given Sprint's native coverage along with its roaming partners, there are a whole lot more areas Sprint covers where tmobie doesn't than vice versa.

However, even in my area I can go from 100 mbps download speed on one tower and the next tower down the road only get 5 mbps.  Now to the general user, as long as emails/texts/Facebook/Snapchat/etc. load timely they may not notice a difference.

  8. I was just thinking, isn't this the first new iPhone model to come out with the iPhone Forever program being out for a year+ or was that the 6s?

What I'm getting at is this the first model where a majority of the iPhone Forever subscribers will be executing their option to trade up for the first time?

And won't they see an increase in the lease fee given a promotion expiring once they trade their other iPhones in?

    Just curious.

  9. I was in Best Buy looking at cheap phones for my oldest. They have a deal right now where you can get the SE 16 GB for $9.99 for 24 months on Easy Pay after some kind of credit that gets applied by Sprint on your bill each month. Effectively making the phone $240 once paid off. The 64 GB model is $14.17 a month after the discount. Those are not bad deals for an iPhone and you own the phone after 2 years.
