  1. It's not the same because Framly does not have the subsidy.

Sure its the same. It's a fee for service.

But let's take your average for non-ED plans of mid-$60. Say $65 over 24 months thats $1560 for one line and one phone.

For my ED I average $60 a month for 24 months for one line. That's $1440. Plus the $200 I had to pay for the phone up front. That's $1640 for one line and one phone.

Hey wait I'm getting ripped off. I'll be glad when everyone gets off those below average non-contract plans.

  2. If I remember correctly sprint's arpu+installments/lease was in the mid to low 60s. Also, if I remember correctly an ED family plan maxed out carries an arpu of ~45 or so.

Sure the more lines you add the more you save with any plan. I have 3 lines on the ED. I pay $179 before taxes and fees and discounts. 3 @ $60.

I also had to pay a few $100 up front for the 3 phones.

Not far off from your average.

The people really below the average are those that took advantage of the Framily plan and are paying $25 or $30 for service.

  3. That isn't a good analogy. A better one is if you to a gas station and you paid a lower price for gas than everyone else at that station. I am not blaming you I am just saying the fact that what you pay for wireless service with sprint might move up more toward the average of what everyone else pays for the same service isn't something that bothers me.

OK fair enough. What is the average?

  4. Why? Look you guys have been under paying for years if that comes to an end you are just paying what everyone else is. If Can you find a better some where else then good but I am not going to lose sleep over ED plans have to go to installments.

Underpaying? What have we been underpaying for exactly? I guess if gas prices are cheaper in my area than yours then I guess I've been underpaying there as well.

  5. I had this posted in another thread but thought I would just make it its own.

It looks like Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T now have comparable setups of family share plans with different sized buckets and line access fees, etc.

I had some time to blow today and decided to build a comparison spreadsheet to highlight some the different bucket sizes with line fees and costs for 2, 3, 4, and X number of lines:

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1RNAKspxIBAiQotHFJBhmV0TC2xxBO-_00lef6Qb_hLA/htmlview?pli=1

You can edit the green box to include more than 4 lines and the far-right corner should reflect the cost.

This spreadsheet includes AT&T's recently announced rate plans.

This based on non-contract, non-subsidized line fees.

This is my first time using Google Spreadsheets so hopefully I set the protection levels properly.

This also does not include T-Mobile because they do not seem to have a shared data plan offer as of right now.

  7. On the announcement page for the new AT&T share plan, I'm trying to reconcile this statement:

"If a customer purchases a device on our installment payment plan, AT&T Next, or brings their own phone they will continue to receive a $25 per line discount for unlimited calling and texting on 15GB plans or higher. AT&T Next customers on other Mobile Share Value plans receive a $15 discount per month."

So if you sign up 3 lines for the 15GB plan and bring your own phones, would that mean:

    $100 + (3 * $15) - (3 * $25) = $70

Maybe I'm just reading it wrong.

  8. All jokes aside though. Like Anthony stated if apple can get all four or five carriers on board it will be a game changer. Apple will test it more thoroughly than Google did with Project Fi. Apple will push it more and invest more into Apple wireless. With the amount of iphones that apple sells I'm sure a good chunk of those users would consider using the service.

The more i think about it the less I'm convinced all 4 would be necessary. There would be almost too much overlap. They need at least one of the big 2 and then one or both of the small 2.

  9. This could be kind of cool if its similar to Fi, otherwise its just another MVNO.

I agree. It would have to support multiple networks to be a viable option.

  10. No it's a great idea because Apple does a hell of a lot more testing than anybody else. They already own a patent granted earlier this decade. It's not like they just thought about it. Google's MVNo does not include roaming on AT&T or Verizon. If Apple's does not then they will be just as bad as Google's. If they do not offer it on more than one device then the reception will be just as lukewarm. If they do not offer it at a better price or with more data than Google then the reception will be lukewarm.

First off that was a tongue in cheek comment (hence the emoji). Second, yes to entice non-Apple users they would have to price it right. However Apple has far more "fanboys" than Google so some of us...err them might buy in even at the same price as Google Fi.

  11. I think it's a great idea. Between that and WiFi, it will be a great network experience. Knowing Apple they have been testing it for a while already.

Yeah, like Project Fi but better because Apple is doing it. LOL [emoji12]

  12. I think that people that use a certain service tries to hype them up to justify why they are using them. I don't hype up any of the services I use. If I'm not satisfied with any service I receive (not limited to just cell service) I would to go the better competitor that suits my needs.

I like this recent objective review of 3 out of 4 carriers (no Sprint yet):

Edit: I can't seem to add a link all of the sudden.
